Merchants and, captains and, gods and, nagas and, yakshas and, asuras and, garudas and, kinnaras and, mahoragas revered, respected, made images of, and offered to. The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, endowed with great merit, who were worshiped and known by gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas, had obtained robes, food, bedding, cushions, medicines, and medical supplies. Together with the monastic community of hearers, he was residing in Jeta's Grove, Anathapindika's Garden, in Shravasti. Then, in Shravasti, there was a defiled person who lived by defiling the wives of others. He was seized by the king's men and presented to the king. Then, because he repeatedly committed offenses, the king handed him over to the executioner. Then, those of the king's men, dressed in blue clothes, carrying weapons, and wearing garlands of oleander flowers around their necks, shouted on the main roads, in the alleys, at the crossroads, and at the junctions, and led him to the south gate of the city. At that time, there was nothing that the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, did not know, did not see, did not understand, or did not comprehend. The Buddha, the Bhagavat, was endowed with great compassion, engaged in benefiting the world, possessed of a single protector, singularly brave, incomparable, not speaking in two ways, abiding in tranquility and insight, illuminating the three knowledges, well-trained in the three trainings, skilled in the three bases of discipline, having crossed the four rivers, with the soles of his feet of the four miraculous legs exceedingly firm, having long been familiar with the four objects of gathering, fearless with the four fearlessnesses, proclaiming the great lion's roar of the supreme leader, having completely abandoned the five branches, having completely transcended the five destinies, endowed with six branches, having perfected the six perfections, abiding in the six things to be constantly practiced, rich with the flowers of the seven branches of enlightenment, teaching the eightfold path.

Those who are skilled in the nine successive absorptions, endowed with the power of the ten strengths, whose fame is universally spread in the ten directions, and who are far superior to those who rule over hundreds of thousands, by their very nature, with the Buddha's eye, observe the world three times during the day and three times during the night, thinking: Who is declining? Who is prospering? Who is poor? Who is pitiable? Who is afflicted? Who is poor, pitiable, and afflicted? Who is inclined towards the lower realms? Who is falling into the lower realms? Who has already fallen into the lower realms? Who shall I rescue from the lower realms and place in the heavenly realms, liberation, and fruition? Who is sinking in the mire of desire, whom shall I draw out by the hand? Who lacks the seven noble riches, whom shall I cause to possess the dominion of the seven noble riches? Who has not generated roots of virtue, whom shall I cause to generate them? Who has already generated roots of virtue, whom shall I cause to fully ripen them? Who has already fully ripened them, whom shall I cause to be liberated? Thus, wisdom and vision arise. Here it is said: The ocean is the abode of aquatic creatures, the waves of time may cease, but for the sons to be tamed, the Buddha never misses the opportunity. Then, the Blessed One, in the early morning, having put on his undergarment and Dharma robes, took his bowl and went to Shravasti for alms. Then, that man saw the Buddha, the Blessed One, whose body was well adorned with the thirty-two marks of a great being, beautifully embellished with the eighty minor marks, surrounded by a fathom of light, possessing light surpassing a thousand suns, like a mountain of jewels, all-good. Having seen him, he prostrated at the feet of the Blessed One and said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, I am worthy to be granted liberation, please grant me the gift of sparing my life. Then, the Blessed One said to the venerable Ananda: Ananda, go and say to King Prasenajit: Great King, please give this man to me, and I will ordain him. Then, the venerable Ananda, having heard the words of the Blessed One, went to where King Prasenajit of Kosala was, and having arrived, to Kosala
