Having satisfied them with goodness, they offered various kinds of clothes and also made aspirations for the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. The Blessed One said: Monks, what do you think? The one who at that time and at that moment became a king of the lineage, empowered from the crown of his head, was me. Because of the maturation of the karma of making such offerings to the perfectly enlightened Buddha Brahma, I experienced immense happiness in samsara, and now, when I manifest enlightenment in the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, I also made such offerings. Monks, therefore, you should train in this way: respect the teacher, regard him as a guru, respect him as an image, make offerings to him. Having respected the teacher, regarded him as a guru, respected him as an image, and made offerings, abide in reliance. Monks, you should train in this way. After the Blessed One had spoken thus, the monks rejoiced and praised the words of the Blessed One. , , The Hundred Discourses of Wise and Foolish [Deeds], Volume Four, entitled Bathing, is: The Buddha, the Blessed One, was revered by kings, great ministers, wealthy people, people of the palace retinue, merchants, captains, gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and great belly-crawlers, honored as a guru, respected as an image, and offered to. The Buddha, the Blessed One, who was offered to and known by gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and great belly-crawlers, possessed great merit, and obtained clothes, food, bedding, cushions, medicine, and medical supplies, together with the monastic community of hearers, resided in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove of Prince Jeta, in the Anathapindika's Garden. At that time, in Shravasti, about five hundred merchants entered a solitary path, but they lost their way and went to a sand dune, and they were exhausted by the fatigue of the road and their provisions were depleted.

When scorched by the midday sun's heat, rolling on the ground like dried fish, experiencing intense, unbearable, hot, and unpleasant feelings, they prayed to thousands of deities such as Gu Lang, the water god, Kubera, Indra, etc., but were unable to be saved from it. Among them, there was a layperson who knew the teachings of the Buddha. He said to those merchants: "Take refuge in the Buddha!" Then, everyone unanimously took refuge. At that time, there was nothing that the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, did not know, did not see, did not understand, or did not comprehend. The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, possessed great compassion, engaged in benefiting the world, possessed a single protection, were uniquely brave, incomparable, did not speak in two ways, dwelt in tranquility and insight, manifested the three knowledges, were well-trained in the three trainings, were skilled in the three bases of discipline, had crossed the four rivers, had extremely firm soles of feet from the four miraculous legs, had long been familiar with the four objects of gathering, were fearless with the four fearlessnesses, roared the great roar of the supreme lion, had completely abandoned the five branches, had completely transcended the five realms of existence, possessed six branches, had perfected the six perfections, dwelt in the six things to be constantly abiding, were rich with the flowers of the seven branches of enlightenment, taught the eightfold path, were skilled in the nine successive absorptions, possessed the power of the ten strengths, were universally expanded by fame in the ten directions, and were far more superior than those who controlled ten hundred thousands. By nature, three times during the day and three times during the night, with the Buddha's eye, they looked at the world: who is declining? Who is prospering? Who is impoverished? Who is fearful? Who possesses harm? Who is impoverished, fearful, and possesses harm? Who is inclined towards the lower realms? Who is falling into the lower realms? Who has fallen into the lower realms? Who is it that I will rescue from the lower realms and place in the heavens, liberation, and fruition? Who is sinking from the mire of desire?

From where should one lead? Who, lacking the seven noble riches, should be made to possess the power of the seven noble riches? Who, from not generating roots of virtue, should be made to generate them? Who, from having already generated roots of virtue, should be made to fully mature them? Who, from having already fully matured, should be liberated? Thus, wisdom and insight arise. Here it is said: The ocean is the abode of aquatic creatures, the tide may possibly overflow, but for the sons to be tamed, the Buddha never misses the time. Then, for a while, the Blessed One saw many merchants who were poor and miserable. Then, in the time it takes to look with the eyes, accompanied by a retinue of monks, he disappeared from the grove of Prince Jeta and went in that direction. Those merchants also saw the Blessed One with the community of monks. Having seen him, they raised a loud cry. Then, the Blessed One generated a worldly thought: 'It would be good if the lord of the gods, Indra, would send down a great rain and also send down cool hailstones.' As soon as the Blessed One generated the thought, Indra sent down a great rain and also sent down cool hailstones, so that those merchants were no longer thirsty, and the suffering caused by the heat was also relieved. Then those merchants were delighted, and the Blessed One also showed them the way, so they went to Shravasti. Then, after they had rested, they went to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One taught them such a Dharma that they would realize the Four Noble Truths. Having heard it, some attained the fruit of stream-entry, some attained the fruit of once-returning, some attained the fruit of non-returning, some abandoned all defilements and directly realized Arhatship, some generated the mind of a Hearer's Bodhi, some generated the mind of a Solitary Buddha's Bodhi, and some generated the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete Bodhi. All those retinues were inclined towards the Buddha and inclined towards the Dharma.
