As night fell and darkness descended, he was digging through the wall. Then, the guards captured him alive and presented him to King Ajatashatru, reporting, "This celestial being is a thief, destroying the palace, committing offenses, and digging through the wall in the palace at night." Then the king sentenced him to death for committing the crime. Then, the executioners, dressed in blue clothes, wearing garlands of karavira flowers around their necks, and holding weapons in their hands, led him through the main road, alleys, crossroads, three-way intersections, and places of proclamation, shouting loudly, and then led him out from the south gate of the city to the cemetery in the cold forest. As he was being led there, he said to the executioners, "Alas, the king's command cannot be disobeyed, please execute me quickly." Then, the executioners reported to the king. Then, the king turned back and asked, "Hey, man, why do you want to give up all hope of living?" Then, he reported the matter to the king in detail. Then, King Ajatashatru, his hair standing on end like kadamba flowers, his eyes filled with tears, weeping, said, "Alas, in order to completely eliminate him, he strives to give up hope of living, it seems that his mind has completely matured, he deeply recognizes the faults of samsara, and has well attained perfect faith." He said with joy. Then, the king sighed and said, "Child, I have power over your life, now go and become ordained in the teachings of the Blessed One." The king released him, and he became ordained in the teachings of the Blessed One. Through effort, practice, and diligence, he realized that this wheel of the five-eyed samsara is shaking and unstable, and thoroughly realized that the nature of all conditioned phenomena is destruction, decay, dissolution, and disintegration, thereby abandoning all defilements and directly realizing the state of an Arhat. The Arhat, having become free from the desires of the three realms, treats gold and dung equally, possesses a mind like the sky and the palm of the hand, and is like sandalwood soaked in water.

Having subsided, he destroyed the eggshell with wisdom, obtained wisdom, supernormal powers, and individual self-realization wisdom, not coveting worldly gains, attachments, and reverence, becoming a place of offering, remembrance, and respect by the gods, including those with power and attendants. At that time, the Blessed One said to the monks: Monks, among my Shravaka monks, the best of those who have gone forth with faith is this Ganga, the son of the merchant of Varanasi. Then, the monks became doubtful and asked the Buddha, the Blessed One, who cuts off all doubts: Venerable, what kind of deeds did Ganga do that, due to the ripening of those deeds, fire cannot burn his body, poison, weapons, and water cannot cause him to die, and he has also attained the Arhatship? The Blessed One said: Monks, Ganga himself, in other past lives, accumulated merits and possessed the complete causes and conditions, appearing like breaking through a dam, and performed and accumulated those deeds that would not be devoured by ghosts. Therefore, how could others experience the deeds that Ganga himself has done and accumulated? Monks, the deeds done and accumulated will not ripen in the external earth element, nor will they ripen in the water, fire, and wind elements. The virtuous and non-virtuous deeds done and accumulated will only ripen on the aggregates, realms, and sources that are grasped. The deeds of sentient beings, even for a hundred eons, will not be exhausted. Once assembled and the time has come, it will ripen into a fruit. Monks, in the past, in the city of Varanasi, there lived a low-caste grave robber who sometimes robbed travelers and obtained wealth. Later, chased by wild men, he temporarily fled to a place in the cemetery where a Pratyekabuddha was in meditation. The grave robber left the wealth in front of the Pratyekabuddha and hid himself. Then, those wild men saw the Pratyekabuddha and pelted him with stones, stabbed him with weapons, and with fire.

Even when burned, because he entered into the samadhi that prevents burning, he could not even move a corner of his Dharma robe. Then, when those wild men became tired and returned, that Pratyekabuddha slightly arose from samadhi. Then, that person who stole the belongings from the cemetery of the evil clan offered food to that Pratyekabuddha and made a prayer: 'May I also obtain such qualities as this. Just as this cannot be overcome by others, may I also, wherever I am born, not be overcome by others. May I please the teacher who is even more excellent than this, and may I not displease him.' The Blessed One said: 'Monks, what do you think? The one who stole the belongings from the cemetery of the evil clan at that time was this Gangeya. Moreover, during the time of the Blessed One Kashyapa, he went forth and guarded the conduct of celibacy there, and now he has directly realized the state of an Arhat.' Monks, therefore, those actions that are definitely black will definitely have a black result. Those actions that are definitely white will definitely have a white result. Mixed actions will also have mixed results. Monks, therefore, abandon those actions that are definitely black and mixed, and only commit to those actions that are definitely white. Monks, you should train yourselves in this way.' After the Blessed One spoke these words, the monks were delighted and praised what the Blessed One had said. The story called 'Simharaksha' is as follows: The Buddha, the Blessed One, was honored, respected, revered, and offered to by kings, great ministers, wealthy people, palace attendants, merchants, ship captains, gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas. Gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garu
