If the people of Jambudvipa perform certain actions, they will be born into wealthy families, possess good looks, be pleasing and beautiful, and even upon ordination, they will realize the state of an Arhat. The Blessed One said: Monks, the people of Jambudvipa themselves have accumulated merit and fulfilled the conditions in other past lives, and they arise like a flood. Because they have done and accumulated those actions that will not come in vain, who else will experience those actions done and accumulated by the people of Jambudvipa themselves? Monks, the actions done and accumulated will not ripen in the external realm of earth, nor will they ripen in the realms of water, fire, or wind. The virtuous and non-virtuous actions done and accumulated will only ripen in the aggregates, elements, and sense bases that are grasped. The actions of sentient beings will not be exhausted even in hundreds of kalpas. When the conditions gather and the time arrives, they will ripen into fruit. Monks, in the past, in a bygone era, the king of Body-born, along with the people of his palace retinue, encountered an invasion by enemy forces. Helpless and not knowing what to do, they entered the depths of the forest. There, at noon, they were scorched by the intense rays of the sun, and wandered around with their troops, unable to find a way out. At a time when Buddhas do not appear in the world, solitary Buddhas, who are compassionate towards the poor and destitute, who live in remote dwellings, and who are the sole objects of offering in the world, appear in the world. Once, a solitary Buddha, dwelling on that solitary path, generated compassion and showed the king of Body-born the way, and also showed him the source of water. In this way, he saved the lives of the king and his retinue. Then, the king developed faith and led him to his own city, and for three months he attended to him with all necessities. After the solitary Buddha passed away, the king also built a stupa for his relics and prayed: By this root of virtue, generation of bodhicitta, and the act of completely giving away the Dharma of generosity, may I also obtain such qualities! May it be even more excellent than this.

May the noble teachers be pleased! May they not be displeased. The Blessed One said: Monks, what do you think? The one who was king at that time was this Dhritarashtra (Yul 'khor skyong). Monks, Dhritarashtra also performed and accumulated other deeds. In this very Fortunate Aeon, when the lifespan of beings reaches twenty thousand years, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One, endowed with knowledge and conduct, Well-Gone, Knower of the World, unsurpassed Guide of beings to be tamed, Teacher of gods and humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One, named Krakucchanda (འོད་སྲུང་,梵文:Krakucchanda,梵文罗马转写:Krakucchanda, literal meaning: Light Protector) will appear in the world. He will dwell and reside in the Deer Park where sages speak in the city of Varanasi (བཱ་རཱ་ཎ་སཱི་,Vārāṇasī). At that time, the city of Varanasi will be ruled by King Krīkī (ཀྲཱི་ཀཱི་,Krīkī). During his reign, there will be wealth and prosperity, happiness and well-being, good harvests, a multitude of people, peace from quarrels and conflicts, pacification of disturbances and internal strife, absence of thieves, famine, and diseases, and abundance of rice, sugarcane, cattle, and buffalo. He will be a virtuous king, ruling the kingdom according to dharma. Then, his youngest son went to the place where the sages spoke. He saw the Buddha, the Blessed One, whose body was well adorned with the thirty-two major marks of a great being, beautified with the eighty minor marks, radiant with a fathom of light, possessing light surpassing a thousand suns, and perfect in every way like a moving mountain of jewels. As soon as he saw him, he felt joy in the Blessed One. Having generated joy, he bowed his head at the feet of the Blessed One and sat before the Blessed One in order to listen to the Dharma. Then, the Blessed One Krakucchanda taught him the Dharma. He generated faith, and thus he served and honored the Blessed One Krakucchanda and his retinue, took refuge, and took the precepts. Even after his complete passing into nirvana, he hung small umbrellas on the stupa. Monks, what do you think? The king at that time
