It increased up to a hundred thousand. Then, the guardian of Jetavana thought to himself: 'This householder Anathapindika is not a frivolous person. Since he is a steadfast sentient being, he must have some purpose in this.' Thinking this, he became doubtful and asked the person who liked the Tirthikas: 'For whose sake are you increasing this?' He said: 'I am increasing it for the sake of the Blessed One, the son of the desireless one.' Anathapindika said: 'I am increasing it for the sake of the Blessed One, the Buddha.' The guardian of Jetavana said: 'Who is this called Buddha?' Then Anathapindika explained the qualities of the Buddha in detail to him. Then the guardian of Jetavana said to Anathapindika: 'Householder, I myself will make offerings to that Blessed One.' Then the householder Anathapindika took the guardian of Jetavana and went to where the Blessed One was. The guardian of Jetavana saw the Blessed One's body well adorned with the thirty-two marks of a great being, beautified by the eighty minor marks, adorned with a fathom of light, possessing light surpassing a thousand suns, and beautiful in every way like a mountain of jewels. As soon as he saw him, the guardian of Jetavana threw the lotus at the Blessed One. As soon as it was thrown, the lotus became as large as a chariot wheel and remained above the Blessed One. Then the guardian of Jetavana, seeing that miracle, like a tree cut from its roots, prostrated at the feet of the Blessed One, folded his hands, and with joy in his heart, made the aspiration: 'By this root of virtue, generation of the mind of enlightenment, and the complete giving of the Dharma, may I become a Buddha who leads the blind world without a guide and without a complete guide, liberates sentient beings who have not been liberated, releases those who have not been released, gives breath to those who have not been given breath, and completely releases those who have not completely been released from suffering.' Then the Blessed One observed the cause and effect of the guardian of Jetavana, and the karma.

Knowing that it was transmitted from one to another, he smiled. This is the Dharma nature of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, when they smile. At that time, blue, yellow, red, and white rays of light emanated from his mouth. Some went downwards, and some went upwards. Those that went downwards cooled and descended into all the hot hells of sentient beings, such as the Reviving Hell, the Black Line Hell, the Crushing Hell, the Crying Hell, the Great Crying Hell, the Hot Hell, the Very Hot Hell, the Uninterrupted Hell, the Blistering Hell, the Bursting Blister Hell, the So So Hell, the He He Hell, the A Chu Chu Hell, the Hell where it cracks like an Utpala flower, the Hell where it cracks like a lotus flower, and the Hell where it cracks like a great lotus flower. All the cold hells of sentient beings became warm and descended. Thus, the differences in suffering of those sentient beings were pacified. Then they thought, 'Have we died and transmigrated from here? Or have we been born elsewhere?' Then, in order to generate faith in them, the Bhagavan manifested emanations. Seeing the emanations, they thought, 'We have neither died and transmigrated from here, nor have we been born elsewhere. However, by the power of this unprecedented appearance of sentient beings, the differences in our suffering have been pacified.' Then, they developed great joy in the emanations. Those sentient beings will exhaust the karma that causes them to experience hell, and they will take rebirth among gods and humans, in places where they are fit to be vessels of truth. Those that go upwards reach the retinues of the Four Great Kings, the Thirty-three, the Free from Strife, the Joyful, the Delighting in Emanation, the Controlling Others' Emanations, the Brahma retinue, the Attendants of Brahma, the Great Brahma, the Minor Light, the Immeasurable Light, the Clear Light, the Minor Virtue, the Immeasurable Virtue, the Extensive Virtue, the Cloudless, the Born of Merit, the Great Fruit, and the Non-Great.

Having gone among the human lineages, the glorious beings, the exceedingly visible ones, and the gods of Akanishta, proclaiming the sound of impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and selflessness. Two verses are also spoken: Strive for definite emergence. Apply yourselves to the Buddha's teachings. Like an elephant destroying a reed house, destroy the army of the Lord of Death. Whoever in this Dharma-Vinaya, conducts themselves with mindfulness, having completely abandoned the cycle of birth, will bring suffering to an end. Thus it is spoken. Then, those rays of light circled the three-thousand great-thousand world system, following behind the Blessed One. If the Blessed One wished to prophesy past actions, they would not appear on the Blessed One's back. If he wished to prophesy future actions, they would not appear in front. If he wished to prophesy that beings would be born in hell, they would not appear on the soles of his feet. If he wished to prophesy that they would be born as animals, they would not appear on the heels of his feet. If he wished to prophesy that they would be born as hungry ghosts, they would not appear on his toes. If he wished to prophesy that they would be born as humans, they would not appear on his two knees. If he wished to prophesy that he would become a powerful wheel-turning king, they would not appear on the palm of his left hand. If he wished to prophesy that he would become a wheel-turning king, they would not appear on the palm of his right hand. If he wished to prophesy that he would be born as a god, they would not appear on his navel. If he wished to prophesy the enlightenment of a Hearer, they would not appear in his mouth. If he wished to prophesy the enlightenment of a Solitary Buddha, they would not appear on the hair between his eyebrows. If he wished to prophesy the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, they would not appear on the crown of his head. Then, those rays of light circumambulated the Blessed One three times, and disappeared into the crown of the Blessed One's head. Then, the venerable Ananda, with his palms joined, asked the Blessed One: With a thousand colors
