If there is fear, the white hair between the eyebrows will not appear. If you wish to prophesy the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, then the crown of the head will not appear. Then, those rays of light circumambulated the Blessed One three times, and disappeared into the crown of the Blessed One's head. Then, the venerable Ananda, with his palms joined, asked the Blessed One: "Various colors intermingled with a thousand hues, have emerged from the door of your mouth, illuminating all directions, just like the rising sun." Again, he requested in verse: "The Buddha, free from clamor, not fond of satiety, abandoning negligence, is the sacred source for beings. The victorious conquerors of enemies do not show a smile like the root of a lotus and the color of a conch shell without cause or condition. Since you know the opportune time with your steadfast wisdom, O ascetic king, listeners seeking truth, request that you, the supreme one among the able ones, with your supreme and steadfast words, dispel the doubts that arise in the good ones. The protectors, perfect Buddhas, steadfast like the ocean and the king of mountains, usually do not show a smile. For what reason, O hero, do you show a smile? Most people desire to hear the answer from you." The Blessed One said: "Ananda, it is indeed so. It is indeed so. Ananda, the Tathagatas, Arhats, perfectly enlightened ones, do not show a smile without cause or condition. Ananda, have you seen this eldest son of the merchant showing such respect to me?" "Venerable one, I have seen it." "Ananda, this eldest son of the merchant, with his roots of virtue, aspiration, and complete giving of the Dharma, will perfectly accomplish enlightenment, which is to be accomplished in three countless eons, completely tamed by great compassion, having perfected the six paramitas, endowed with the ten powers, four fearlessnesses, three unmixed mindfulnesses, and great compassion, will become a perfectly enlightened Buddha named Shakyamuni, and will appear in the world."

The Dharma to be given as alms is that which makes my mind exceedingly joyful. After the Blessed One spoke thus, those monks rejoiced and greatly praised what the Blessed One had said. That which is called Padma: The Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, were honored by kings, great ministers, wealthy people, people of the palace retinue, merchants, captains, gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kimnaras, and mahoragas. They were revered, made into images, and offered to. The Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, who were worshiped and known by gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kimnaras, and mahoragas, possessed great merit and obtained robes, food, bedding, seats, medicines for the sick, and medical supplies. Together with the Sangha of Shravakas, they resided in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove of Prince Jeta, in the garden of Anathapindada. When the Blessed One had not yet appeared in the world, King Prasenajit would offer flowers, incense, perfumes, garlands, and unguents to other gods at three times of the day. When the Blessed One appeared in the world, King Prasenajit was subdued by the example of the Sutra of the Youth, and he gained faith in the teachings of the Blessed One. At that time, joy and happiness arose, and he would go to the Blessed One at three times of the day, offering lamps, incense, flowers, perfumes, garlands, and unguents. Then, after some time, a guardian of the Jeta Grove took a newly grown lotus flower and went to King Prasenajit in Shravasti. A heretical layperson saw him and asked, "Hey, man, are you selling that lotus?" The man replied, "Yes, I am selling it." He wanted to buy it, and after a while, Anathapindada went there and bought it from him for twice the price. The two of them…
