It was offered to the abbot Ama-gags-pa (Non-regressing). Abbot Ama-gags-pa also renounced and received the teaching of mindfulness. Through diligence, practice, and effort, he realized that this wheel of the five-eyed cycle of existence was shaking and unstable, and thus thoroughly understood that all conditioned phenomena are of the nature of collapsing, falling, scattering, and disintegrating. He abandoned all defilements and directly realized the state of an Arhat. The Arhat, having become free from desire in the three realms, regarded gold and dung as equal, possessed a mind as undifferentiated as the sky and the palm of his hand, and became as cool as if soaked in sandalwood. He shattered the shell of the egg with wisdom, and attained wisdom, supernormal powers, and individual perfect knowledge. He did not look to worldly gain, attachment, and reverence. He became an object of worship, remembrance, and reverence by the gods with power and attendants. He was one of keen faculties. When he was sewing clothes in the midst of the dustpan, each time he inserted a needle, he would enter and arise from the eight liberations. Then, after some time, the abbot Ama-gags-pa instructed, "Child, go and fetch some water from the Khangden River." Then, the novice Snama took a vase and went to the bank of the Khangden River. After bathing, he filled the vase with water and went into the sky. Sometimes the vase went ahead and the novice Snama came behind. Sometimes the novice Snama went ahead and the vase came behind. At that time, the Blessed One arose from meditative absorption and taught the Dharma to the four assemblies. There, the Blessed One said to the venerable Shariputra, "Shariputra, do you see this novice who is mindful, whose faculties are extremely subdued, and who is coming with a vase filled with water?" Having completely abandoned desire and hatred, Having separated from ignorance, Taking hold of the last body, That is a water pot, extremely beautiful. When the Blessed One praised and extolled the novice Snama in front of the monastic community of monks, the monks became doubtful, and so they asked the Buddha, the Blessed One, who cuts off all doubts, "Venerable Snama..."

If one performs which actions, one will have a good appearance, be beautiful and lovely, and be born with hair like a garland of celestial variegated flowers, have sharp faculties, and directly realize the state of an Arhat? The Blessed One said: Monks, it is because the variegated flower itself has accumulated merits and possessed the necessary conditions in other past lives, that it appears like crossing a difficult ford. Because it has performed and accumulated those actions that will not be devoured by demons, who else but the variegated flower itself will experience the actions it has performed and accumulated? Monks, the actions that have been performed and accumulated will not ripen in the external realm of earth, nor will they ripen in the realm of water, fire, or wind. The virtuous and non-virtuous actions that have been performed and accumulated will only ripen in the aggregates, elements, and sense bases that are grasped. The actions of sentient beings will not be lost even for hundreds of eons. When they are accumulated and the time has come, they will ripen into fruit. Monks, in the past, long ago, ninety-one eons ago, there appeared in the world a Tathagata, an Arhat, a perfectly enlightened Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, a Sugata, a knower of the world, an unsurpassed guide for those who need to be tamed, a teacher of gods and humans, a Buddha, a Blessed One, named Vipashyin. He resided in the palace owned by the relatives of the king. Then, after some time, there was a captain who had the thought of renouncing the world from his youth, but he was unable to renounce. When he became old, he felt regret and thought: I have not renounced the world under the teachings of the Blessed One, I have done something bad! Then, he offered variegated flowers to the stupa of hair and nails. He also offered a meal to the perfectly enlightened Buddha Vipashyin and his assembly of Shravakas, and after prostrating at his feet, he made the aspiration: By this root of virtue, the generation of the mind of enlightenment, and the complete giving of the Dharma, may I be able to please the future Tathagatas, Arhats, perfectly enlightened Buddhas, the Blessed Ones.
