Then, having satisfied all the poor, he informed his parents and went forth into the doctrine of the Blessed One. Through diligence, practice, and effort, he realized that this wheel of the five-eyed cycle of existence is wavering and unstable. He thoroughly understood that all conditioned phenomena are of the nature of decay, decline, dissipation, and destruction. Having abandoned all defilements, he directly realized the state of an Arhat. Having become an Arhat, free from desire for the three realms, possessing a mind that equates gold with rubble, similar to the sky and the palm of the hand, becoming as cool as if soaked in sandalwood, having shattered the shell of ignorance with wisdom, having attained wisdom, supernormal powers, and individual perfect knowledge, not looking to the gains, attachments, and reverence of existence, he became an object of offering, awe, and respectful praise by the gods and their retinues. He uses the robes offered after requesting, and uses little of what is not offered after requesting. He uses the food, bedding, cushions, medicine, and medical supplies offered after requesting, and uses little of what is not offered after requesting. Then, the monks arose with doubts and asked the Buddha, the Blessed One, who cuts off all doubts: "Venerable one, what deeds did the Hearer do that, as soon as he was born, the gods raised banners, and he flourished in the world with fame, and having gone forth, he attained the state of an Arhat?" The Blessed One said: "Monks, this Hearer, in previous lives, accumulated merit and possessed favorable conditions. He did and accumulated those deeds that come like a rushing flood and are not devoured by demons. Who else would experience the deeds done and accumulated by the Hearer himself? Monks, the deeds done and accumulated do not mature in the external earth element, nor do they mature in the water, fire, or wind elements. Virtuous and non-virtuous deeds, done and accumulated, will only mature in the aggregates, elements, and sources that are grasped. The deeds of sentient beings, even after long kalpas,

It will not be in vain either. When the time of gathering arrives, it will naturally ripen into fruit. Monks, in the past, in the bygone era, ninety-one kalpas ago, the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, Sugata, Knower of the World, Guide of beings to be tamed, Unsurpassed, Teacher of gods and humans, Buddha Bhagavan, named Vipashyin, appeared in the world. He resided in the palace of King Kinsman, and for a time, the perfectly enlightened Buddha Vipashyin performed all the deeds of a Buddha, and like a fire that has consumed its fuel, he completely passed into the realm of Nirvana without any remainder of aggregates. Then, King Kinsman made offerings to the relics of that Bhagavan with a stupa made of four precious materials, which was one yojana in circumference and one yojana in height. There, countless hundreds of thousands of beings paid homage and will go to heaven and liberation. Then, after a while, King Kinsman held a festival for that stupa, and at the festival of the stupa, the strongmen raised banners. Then, after a while, one of the king's strongmen overcame another strongman, and after he obtained the banner of the strongman, he took it away, and with a retinue of countless hundreds of thousands of beings, he played various kinds of musical instruments, and went to the stupa of Bhagavan Vipashyin, and after arriving, he remembered the virtues of the Bhagavan, and tied the banner to the life-tree on top of the stupa, and made a prayer: May I also obtain such virtues! May I please such a teacher! May I not displease him! Monks, what do you think? The one who was a strongman at that time was this one with fame, and because he made offerings to the stupa of Bhagavan Vipashyin, he experienced infinite happiness in samsara, and for that very reason, he has now directly realized the state of an Arhat.

So. Monks, thus, those actions that are definitely black will also definitely have a black result. Those actions that are definitely white will also definitely have a white result. Mixed actions will also have a mixed result. Monks, therefore, abandon those actions that are definitely black and mixed actions, and dedicate yourselves solely to those actions that are definitely white. Monks, you should train yourselves in this way. After the Blessed One had spoken thus, those monks rejoiced and praised what the Blessed One had said. From the hundred Jataka tales, including Gambo, this is called "Miscellaneous Jataka Tales," and the seventh chapter of verses is completed. The eighth chapter of verses. Summary: Light Good Mother and Very Ugly Mother, White Moon Lotus, Beautiful Mother and Pearl, Ka Tsang Ga La Blissful Mother, The unpleasant categories have been explained. The one called Light Good Mother: Kings, great ministers, wealthy people, palace attendants, merchants, captains, gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and great reptiles honored the Buddha, the Blessed One, regarded him as their teacher, made images of him, and made offerings to him. The Buddha, the Blessed One, who was honored and known by gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and great reptiles, possessed great merit, and obtained robes, food, bedding, cushions, medicine, and other necessities, together with the monastic community of hearers, was residing in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove, in the Garden of Anathapindika. At that time, in Shravasti, there lived a wealthy merchant, rich in possessions, with great enjoyment, vast and extensive, possessing wealth comparable to that of Vaishravana. He took a wife from the same lineage, and together with her, he played and rejoiced.
