Monks, therefore, you should abandon karma that is definitely black and guiding karma, and you should focus solely on karma that is definitely white. Monks, you should train yourselves in this way. After the Blessed One had spoken thus, the monks rejoiced and greatly praised what the Blessed One had said. The messenger refers to the fact that the Buddha, the Blessed One, is honored, respected, regarded as a teacher, depicted, and offered to by kings, great ministers, wealthy people, palace attendants, merchants, captains, gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas. The Buddha, the Blessed One, who is offered to and known by gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas, possesses great merit and has obtained robes, food, bedding, seats, medicine, and other necessities. Anāthapiṇḍada said: "Lord, I have heard that the Blessed One has promised to spend the rainy season in Rājagṛha." Then King Prasenajit of Kosala, the householder Anāthapiṇḍada, and others, the people of the palace retinue, the people of the country, and the ministers summoned a messenger and said: "Hey, you, come here! Go to where the Blessed One is. When you get there, bow your head at the feet of the Blessed One, and from us, say: 'Blessed One, are you well? Are you free from fear? Is your movement light? Are you living? Are you strong? Are you happy? Do you have no discomfort? Do you abide in comfort?' Please say this. Venerable sir, the people of the palace retinue of King Prasenajit of Kosala and those dwelling in Śrāvastī wish to see the face of the Blessed One, because we have not seen the Blessed One for a long time. We are thirsty to see the Blessed One. If we could see the Blessed One, for the sake of compassion, please ask the Blessed One to go to Śrāvastī." Thus they commanded. Then that person, having heard the command of King Prasenajit of Kosala, the ministers, the people of the palace retinue, and the people of the country, went to Rājagṛha, and gradually went and went until he reached the city of Rājagṛha. Then, having looked at all the places in the city of Rājagṛha, he went to where the Blessed One was, and having arrived, he bowed his head at the feet of the Blessed One, and said this to the Blessed One: "Venerable sir, please listen. King Prasenajit of Kosala and the people of the palace retinue dwelling in Śrāvastī bow their heads at the feet of the Blessed One, and say: 'Blessed One, are you well? Are you free from fear? Is your movement light? Are you living? Are you strong? Are you happy? Do you have no discomfort? Do you abide in comfort?' Thus they say. Thus: 'We have not seen the Blessed One for a long time.'
