If one delights in being born in hell, one will be born many times in the hell of sentient beings. It is said: Whichever sentient being steals the wealth of the Three Jewels, or steals the property of parents, or commits the great offense of taking a human life, will fall into the great hell of extremely burning sentient beings. That person, seized by wind or cold sickness, thinks in his mind of desiring fire. As soon as he thinks of going into the fire, he dies and goes to the hell of extremely burning sentient beings. Furthermore, stealing a lamp or jewel offered to the Buddha, or stealing a lamp or wood belonging to the Sangha, or demolishing a dwelling place of the Sangha, or demolishing a Dharma teaching hall, or robbing others of their clothes in the cold winter, or a powerful person robbing a male or female slave or another person of their clothes in the cold wind and pouring water on them, or stripping and robbing others of their clothes, due to the sin of this offense, one will fall into the hell of blister-like sentient beings. That person, tormented by fever, always thinks of cool and cold places. As soon as he thinks of cold, he dies and is born in that hell of sentient beings. The hells of sentient beings of the blue lotus, lotus, water lily, and white lotus are also the same. When suffering in the cold hell, the flesh of the body is like barley being parched to the extent that it is cracked, and the head and bones are also cracked into hundreds and thousands of pieces. Whichever sentient being is miserly, cuts off the livelihood of others, leaves them to starve, and does not give food in due time, will fall into the realm of pretas. That person is afflicted with a disease that prevents him from digesting food and makes him nauseous. The nurse or relatives prepare various kinds of food and diligently tell him: "This is sweet, this is sour, this is delicious, this is easy to digest." The patient feels nauseous and thinks: "When will I no longer see these foods?" As soon as he thinks this, he dies and falls into the realm of pretas. Whichever sentient being is foolish, ignorant, does not have faith in the Three Jewels, and slanders the noble ones, will be born in the animal realm. Because it is known that he is about to die, the attendant urges him, "Listen to the Dharma! Also, take vows! Also, let him see the Buddha image and the Sangha, and also give alms to them!" If he does not believe, is not happy, and is strongly urged, if he says angrily, "I would rather not hear the names of the Three Jewels (དཀོན་མཆོག་གསུམ་，ratnatraya，拉特那特拉亚，Three Jewels) and virtuous deeds." Then immediately after death, he will be reborn in the animal realm. If someone strives for the virtuous deeds that lead to becoming a god or a human, then he will not be greatly tormented by illness, and when he dies, his mind will not be confused. The attendant and virtuous friend, knowing that he is about to die, ask him, "Do you want to hear the holy Dharma? Do you want to see the Buddha image? Do you want to hear the Sutras or verses from the monks? Do you like to take vows? Do you believe in offering wealth to the Buddha and the Sangha?" If he says, "I believe in all of these." Furthermore, if you offer gifts to the Buddha image, you will become a Buddha. If you offer worship and wealth to the Dharma, then wherever you are reborn, you will have wisdom, and you will be able to understand and realize the characteristics of the Dharma. If you give wealth to the Sangha, then wherever you are reborn, you will have jewels and great wealth as you wish. After speaking to the sick person in this way, the sick person is very happy and prays, "May I meet the Three Jewels (དཀོན་མཆོག་གསུམ་，ratnatraya，拉特那特拉亚，Three Jewels) in all my lives, hear the Dharma, and also understand and realize it after hearing it." Then after he dies, he will be reborn in the human realm. If someone greatly cultivates and increases the virtuous deeds that cause rebirth as a god, such as giving alms, purely keeping vows, liking to hear the Dharma, and practicing the ten virtuous deeds, then when he dies, he will lie down peacefully, see the Buddha image, the heavenly palace, and the heavenly daughters, hear the heavenly music, and be radiant and raise his hands, and after he dies, he will be reborn in the heavenly realm. At the home of a householder, the pig's wife was attached to her own body, and immediately after her death, she was reborn as a snake in that woman's body.
