迎接之后，用愉快的话语说道：您在路上没有疲倦吗？没有烦恼吗？平安到达了吗？然后说：您需要王位吗？珍宝吗？马吗？车乘吗？衣服吗？食物吗？饮料吗？疾病的药材吗？需要什么就说吧，那些我都乐意施舍。婆罗门说道：给予外在的财物不会成为功德的根本，给予内在的布施果报才大。我失去眼睛已经很久了，总是昏眩迷茫，我要拜见国王。这样说完之后，国王非常高兴，宣告说：我会把眼睛施舍给你。婆罗门问道：国王您如果赐予我，什么时候赐予呢？国王宣告说：就在七天之后施舍。然后宣告，传遍了八万四千个小国。国王要施舍眼睛了，就在七天之后把眼睛施舍给婆罗门，想看的人都来吧。那时，阎浮提的人们听到这样的宣告，都迅速地来到了那里。八万四千个小国国王也各自带着大臣前来，到达国王面前，肚子贴在地上，流着眼泪祈求说：我们阎浮提的所有人都依靠国王而活，为何为了一个人而舍弃我们所有人呢？大臣们、妃子们和宫殿的侍从们也头撞地面，脸朝下趴在地上，祈求说：不要为了一个婆罗门而舍弃我们所有人啊，然后哀号哭泣。五百个王子也哭着说：我们没有保护者了，没有救护者了，为了慈悲，请您收回施舍眼睛的决定。王位继承人持律贤善也这样祈求说：国王父亲，请把我的眼睛施舍出去代替您的施舍。我死去还有限度，如果父亲您没有了眼睛，阎浮提的所有人就没有了保护者，会变得没有依靠的，这样祈求之后，国王对小国国王、大臣和妃子

A vehicle? Clothes? Food? Drink? Medicine for illness? Ask for whatever you need, and I will gladly give it to you." The Brahmin said: "Giving external possessions does not become the root of merit, giving internal generosity has great results. I have lost my eyes for a long time, and I am always dizzy and confused. I want to see the king." After saying this, the king was very happy and announced: "I will give you my eyes." The Brahmin asked: "King, if you grant them to me, when will you grant them?" The king announced: "I will give them in seven days." Then he proclaimed it, spreading it to eighty-four thousand small kingdoms. "The king is going to give his eyes, in seven days he will give his eyes to the Brahmin, everyone who wants to see it should come." At that time, the people of Jambudvipa, hearing this proclamation, quickly came there. Eighty-four thousand small kingdom kings also came with their respective ministers, arriving before the king, pressing their stomachs to the ground, shedding tears and pleading: "All of us in Jambudvipa live relying on the king, why abandon all of us for one person?" The ministers, consorts, and palace attendants also beat their heads on the ground, lying face down on the ground, pleading: "Do not abandon all of us for one Brahmin," and then they wailed and cried. The five hundred princes also cried, saying: "We have no protector, we have no refuge. For the sake of compassion, please reverse your decision to give your eyes." The crown prince Tsultrim Zangpo also pleaded: "King, father, please give my eyes in place of your donation. My death is limited, but if you, father, have no eyes, all the people of Jambudvipa will have no protector and will become without support." After this plea, the king spoke to the small kingdom kings, ministers, and consorts.

然后，向王子们这样宣告说：我长久以来以这个身体经历了各种各样的生命，堆积的骨头比须弥山还高，积攒的血比四大海还多，喝的母亲的乳汁也比四大河还多，与所爱分离而哭泣的眼泪也与大海一样多。在众生地狱中，被烧、被煮、被挖眼的次数也极其多。在饿鬼的境界中，经历了各种各样的身体，从身体燃烧到身体和眼睛都被烧毁的次数无数。在畜生的生处出生，互相残杀而死的身体无数次被浪费。在人类中出生，未到寿命而死的次数很多，到达寿命尽头的次数很少，因为贪恋欲望而互相残杀伤害。在那里也浪费了无数的身体和眼睛。如果生到天界，也不能长久，总之，在三界六道中，贪嗔痴的微尘那么多的身体都被浪费了，一次也没有布施过，也没有寻求过佛的菩提。这个极其肮脏恶臭的眼睛，每一瞬间都在腐烂毁灭，现在是应该布施的种族，而不是不布施的种族，应该布施这肉眼，从而获得佛陀的一切智智之眼。当我的这个愿望成就时，也赐予你清净的 正法之眼。你们不要中断我无上的菩提心啊，这样宣告后，所有眷属都默默不语地坐着。然后国王对大臣们说，你们之中有一个人挖出我的眼睛吧，那些大臣们回答说，即使把我们的身体磨成灰尘，也无法拔出国王的一根毫毛，更何况是触碰国王的眼睛呢。国王又命令说：你们去找一个肤色黝黑，从眼下向上看眼睛的人。找到那样的人之后，国王把刀交到那人手中，命令说：挖出我的眼睛吧。那人挖出了国王的眼睛，放在国王的手中。国王把眼睛放在手中，这样发愿

Then, he proclaimed to the princes thus: "I have experienced various lives for a long time with this body. The bones piled up are higher than Mount Sumeru. The accumulated blood is more than the four great oceans. The mother's milk I have drunk is also more than the four great rivers. The tears I have shed from separation from loved ones are also equal to the ocean. In the hells of sentient beings, the number of times I have been burned, boiled, and had my eyes gouged out is extremely numerous. In the realm of the pretas, I have experienced various kinds of bodies. From my body burning to my body and eyes being burned, the number is countless. Having been born in the animal realm, countless bodies have been wasted by killing each other and dying. Having been born among humans, the number of those who died before their lifespan was exhausted is many, and the number of those who reached the end of their lifespan is few. Because of attachment to desire, they kill and harm each other. There, too, countless bodies and eyes have been wasted. Even if one is born in the heavens, it cannot last long. In short, in the six realms of the three realms, so many bodies, as many as the dust motes of desire, anger, and ignorance, have been wasted, and I have never given alms even once, nor have I sought the enlightenment of the Buddha. This extremely filthy and stinking eye is decaying and perishing every moment. Now is the time for the race that should give alms, not the race that does not give alms. I should give this fleshly eye and obtain the all-knowing eye of the Buddha. When this aspiration of mine is fulfilled, I will also give you the pure eye of Dharma. Do not interrupt my unsurpassed mind of enlightenment," he proclaimed. And all the retinue sat in silence. Then the king said to the ministers, "Let one of you gouge out my eye." Those ministers replied, "Even if we were to grind our bodies into dust, we could not pluck out even a single hair of the king, let alone touch the king's eye." The king then commanded, "Find a person with dark skin who looks up at the eyes from under the eyes." Having found such a person, the king gave a knife into that person's hand and commanded, "Gouge out my eye." That person gouged out the king's eye and placed it in the king's hand.
