Then (the king), from the ministers' treasury, I had previously made offerings, may all the sights of poverty disappear, saying this, just pointing in that direction, all the treasuries became completely filled with jewels. Then proclaimed that from now on in seven days, the Good Deeds Prince will rain down the rain of the seven treasures, let everyone gather. Then, the Good Deeds Prince bathed his body with scented water, put on clean new clothes, tied a wish-fulfilling jewel on the top of the banner, held a bowl in his hand, prostrated to the four directions, and said this: If this jewel is truly a wish-fulfilling jewel, then please fulfill all the wishes of everyone as desired. As soon as he finished speaking, clouds rose from all four directions, and the cloud wind swept away all impurities, first a drizzle fell, so that dust did not rise. Then various foods with a hundred flavors fell. Then the clothes fell. Then the seven treasures fell, filling the whole country. At that time, everyone developed a mind like jewels and gold. Then the prince proclaimed this: All your needs have been fulfilled as desired, now you have become free from poverty and fatigue, each of you restrain your body, speech, and mind, and strive to practice the path of the ten virtuous deeds. Everyone, according to the proclamation, diligently practiced the ten virtues, did not commit evil deeds, and after their lives ended, were reborn in the heavens. Ananda, at that time, the King Jewel Armor was now my father, King Suddhodana. That king's queen was now my mother, Heavenly Beauty. The Good Deeds Prince was now me. King Lishi was now Light Protector. The one who became the prince's wife at that time was now the Mother of All Beings. The Evil Deeds Prince was now Devadatta. The people of Jambudvipa who were covered by my grace were the eighty thousand sons of gods who came when I first became enlightened, and my attendants who received predictions. Ananda, at that time, even though he had caused me great harm, I had a heart of compassion for him.

Having arisen, one has now become manifestly enlightened, and the obscurations of afflictions are exhausted. Since great compassion pervades extensively, what need is there to mention love for even the slightest harm done? After the Blessed One spoke thus, many of the retinue attained the stream-entry, some the non-returner, and some attained the Arhatship. Some became solitary Buddhas, and some generated the mind of unsurpassed Bodhi. Having spoken thus, all rejoiced and were exceedingly delighted. The Thirty-third Chapter, The Prince Good Meaning, is complete. Thirty-fourth Chapter: The Householder Reconciliation Chapter. Thus I have heard, at one time, the Blessed One was in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden, together with a great Sangha of one thousand three hundred and fifty monks. At that time, in that country, there were five hundred beggars who always lived by relying on the Buddha and the Sangha. Later, those beggars thought to themselves: Now we should go forth into the Buddha's teachings. Then they arrived where the Buddha was, and said to the Blessed One: We live by the compassion of the Buddha and the Sangha, and we wish to go forth. Then the Blessed One said to them: The Dharma I have taught is pure, without distinction of noble or base, rich or poor. For example, like water, it washes away noble and base, rich and poor, good and bad. There is nothing that is not purified by washing with water. For example, like fire, between mountains and rocks and the sky and the earth, there is nothing, great or small, that does not burn. Furthermore, my Dharma is like the sky, whether male or female, young or old, rich or poor, whoever it may be, none are excluded. You are allowed to practice as you wish. Having heard this, the five hundred beggars were delighted and rejoiced, and especially wanted to go forth to the Buddha. Then they requested: Please allow us to go forth. The Blessed One merely said, "Welcome," and their hair and beards fell out on their own, and they became monks wearing robes, and were fully ordained. The Blessed One taught the Dharma, and their bodies and minds were all

Having been liberated, their defilements were exhausted, and they became Arhats. At that time, the householders and merchants living in that area, those of noble and high birth, having heard that the Tirthikas had been completely expelled by the Buddha, scorned and ridiculed them, saying: If the Blessed One and the noble Sangha are invited and merit is made, how could I seat those expelled, lowly Tirthikas on seats and defile their bowls? At that time, Prince Jeta invited the Buddha and the Sangha for a meal, and said to the Blessed One: Please invite the Buddha and the Sangha, but not the newly joined Tirthikas. The next day, when it was time for the meal, after inviting the Buddha and the Sangha to depart, he commanded the Tirthika monks who had not been invited: You, who have not been invited by the patron, go to the north, to the unpleasant place, and enjoy the rice that grows without being sown or cultivated, and then come to the patron's house to eat. Those monks, as they were commanded, by the miraculous power of Arhats, went to the north, to the unpleasant place, filled their bowls with rice, and with beautiful conduct, like the king of swans in the sky, arrived at the house of Prince Jeta, and sat down in order and ate the rice. At that time, Prince Jeta saw those monks coming from the sky with miraculous power and beautiful conduct, and was overjoyed and amazed, and asked the Blessed One: From which direction do such noble ones, endowed with splendor and qualities, who have arrived with beautiful conduct, come? The Blessed One said to Prince Jeta: If you wish to know these things, listen carefully, and I will tell you. These monks are the monks who were not invited by the prince; because they were not invited by the prince, they each took rice from the unpleasant place in the north and ate it. Then, Prince Jeta, having heard these words, was very ashamed and regretted it, saying: I am obscured by ignorance and do not recognize the noble ones!
