在那里住着。到他们那里去祈求吧，会生儿子的。说完之后，他从睡梦中醒来，去寻找两位仙人住在哪里。与仙人相遇后，（他说：）“我没有能继承王位的王子，请您投生为我的儿子，继承我的王位吧。”仙人也答应说：“就这么办吧。”另一位仙人也说：“我将投生为您的儿子。”国王非常高兴，说：“你也投生为我的儿子吧！”之后，国王返回，过了一段时间，一位金色的仙人去世后，投生为王后的胎儿。聪明的女人们知道王后怀有身孕，并且知道是男孩，（她们）对国王说：“我肯定怀的是男孩。”国王也增加了对王后的照顾。九个月后，王后生下了一个金色的男婴，头发是深蓝色的，具有各种吉相。国王非常高兴，举行了诞生庆典，请相师取名，给孩子取名为“善义”。之后，另一位王后也怀有身孕，另一位仙人去世后，投生为这位王后的胎儿。之后，又举行了诞生庆典，请相师看相，给孩子取名为“恶义”。国王疼爱儿子，为儿子安排了春夏秋冬四季居住的住所。孩子们长大后，精通了十八种学问等所有学问。后来，善义对国王说：“我想去外面游玩观光。”他的父母也允许儿子去游玩，并让人打扫街道，悬挂旗帜和幡幢，用鲜花进行撒布。准备了熏香等各种供品，让善义骑上用七宝装饰的珍贵大象，敲锣打鼓，演奏音乐和钹，在成百上千人的簇拥下，前往城外。所有居民都站在道路两旁的楼房上，目不转睛地观看。

After meeting the hermit, he said, "I have no prince to inherit the throne, please be born as my son and inherit my lineage." The hermit also agreed, saying, "So be it." Another hermit also said, "I will be born as your son." The king was very happy and said, "You too be born as my son!" After that, the king returned, and after some time, a golden hermit passed away and was born in the womb of the queen. The wise women knew that the queen was pregnant and knew it was a boy, (they) said to the king, "I am sure I am pregnant with a boy." The king also increased his care for the queen. After nine months, the queen gave birth to a golden boy with dark blue hair and auspicious signs. The king was very happy and held a birth celebration, and the name-giver gave him the name "Virtuous Meaning." After that, another queen also became pregnant, and the other hermit passed away and was born in the womb of this queen. After that, another birth celebration was held, and the name-giver looked at the signs and gave the child the name "Evil Meaning." The king loved his sons and arranged residences for them to live in during the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter. When the boys grew up, they became proficient in all the arts, including the eighteen sciences. Later, Virtuous Meaning said to the king, "I want to go outside to stroll and sightsee." His parents also allowed their son to go for a walk, and they had people sweep the streets, hang flags and banners, and scatter flowers. They prepared incense and other offerings, and had Virtuous Meaning ride on a precious elephant adorned with seven treasures, beat drums and gongs, play music and cymbals, and go outside the city surrounded by hundreds and thousands of people. All the residents stood on the buildings on both sides of the road, watching intently.

Then, as he went on, he saw a group of hungry people wearing ragged clothes and carrying broken vessels, calling out, 'Please give a little alms.' Gedun heard them and asked, 'Why are you so tormented and miserable?' Some of them said, 'I have no parents, siblings, children, or relatives, so I am suffering.' Some of them said, 'We have been afflicted by illness for a long time and cannot recover, so we are suffering.' Some of them said, 'After we got married, we were robbed by bandits and have nothing, so we are begging.' Gedun heard them say this, shed tears, and left. After walking a short distance, he saw some butchers slaughtering livestock and skinning them, and he saw some people cutting up corpses. Gedun asked, 'Emaho! What are these people doing?' They said, 'Our ancestors have always engaged in this slaughtering business. If we don't do this, we cannot survive.' Gedun felt ashamed and could not bear to watch, so he left. Then, after walking a short distance, he saw some farmers plowing the fields, and many worms were emerging from the soil. Many birds and venomous snakes were fighting to devour these worms. Gedun asked, 'What are these people doing?' They said, 'We plow the fields and sow seeds in the turned soil. Later, many crops grow, and we live on these crops and also pay taxes to the king.' Gedun also felt ashamed of this and walked a short distance. He saw hunters using nets to catch birds and setting traps to catch birds. The animals were caught in the nets and traps, struggling and flapping their bodies, but they could not escape. They cried out pitifully and were very frightened. Gedun asked, 'What are you doing?' They said, 'Our ancestors have always engaged in this killing business, and we live on it.' Gedun heard them say this and felt very depressed. He walked a short distance again and saw fishermen casting nets to catch fish. They caught many fish and piled them up on the shore, and some were still moving. Gedun asked, 'What are these people doing?' They said, 'We have no other ancestral occupation, so we can only catch fish and live like this.' Gedun saw these things
