་ཀུན་དགའ་ར་བ་ན་བཞུགས་སོ། །དེའི་ཚེ་ན་ལྷ་སྦྱིན་རབ་ཏུ་བྱུང་མོད་ཀྱིས་རྙེད་པ་ལ་ཆགས་པས་མཚམས་མེད་པའི་ལས་ཀྱིས་རི་བསྙིལ་ནས་སངས་རྒྱས་མནན་པ་དང་། ཞབས་ལ་ཤིང་གི་ཚལ་བ་འཛུགས་པ་དང་། གླང་པོ་ཆེ་སྨྱོན་པ་བཏང་བ་དང་། འཐུན་པའི་དགེ་འདུན་གྱི་དབྱེན་བྱེད་པ་དང་། ཟག་པ་ཟད་པའི་དགེ་སློང་མ་བསད་པ་དང་། མི་དགེ་བའི་ལས་འདི་དག་བྱས་ནས། སྐྱེ་བ་ཕྱི་མ་ལ་རྣམ་པར་སྨིན་པས་འཇིགས་ཏེ། མུ་སྟེགས་པའི་སྟོན་པ་དྲུག་གི་ཐད་དུ་སོང་ནས་དྲིས་སོ། །སྟོན་པ་དྲུག་གིས་ཀྱང་ངན་པར་ལྟ་བའི་ཆོས་སྡིག་པ་བྱས་ཀྱང་སྡིག་པར་མི་འགྱུར་ལ་དགེ་བ་བྱས་ཀྱང་བསོད་ནམས་སུ་མི་འགྱུར་བའི་ཆོས་བསྟན་ནས། དེ་ལ་ཡིད་ཆེས་ཏེ། དགེ་བའི་རྩ་བ་བཅད་དོ། །དེའི་ཚེ་ན་ཀུན་དགའ་བོས་ཕུ་ནུ་བོ་ལ་སྙིང་བརྩེ་བའི་ཕྱིར་རབ་ཏུ་མི་དགའ་སྟེ། ངུས་ནས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ལ་འདི་སྐད་ཅེས་གསོལ་ཏོ། །ལྷ་སྦྱིན་གཏི་མུག་ཅན་ནི་མི་དགེ་བའི་ལས་ཁ་ན་མ་ཐོ་བ་བགྱིས་ཏེ། དགེ་བའི་རྩ་བ་བཅད་ནས་ཤཱཀྱའི་རིགས་རྣམས་ཀྱང་སུན་འབྱིན་ནོ། །བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་ཀུན་དགའ་བོ་ལ་བཀའ་སྩལ་པ། ལྷ་སྦྱིན་འདི་ནི་ཚེ་འདི་འབའ་ཞིག་ལ་རྙེད་པ་དང་གྲགས་པའི་ཕྱིར་དགེ་བའི་རྩ་བ་བཅད་པར་མ་ཟད་ཀྱི། འདས་པའི་དུས་ན་ཡང་རྙེད་པ་དང་གྲགས་པའི་ཕྱིར་ལུས་དང་སྲོག་ཀྱང་སྟོང་པའི་ལས་བྱས་སོ། །དེ་ལ་དགེ་སློང་དག་ཐེ་ཚོམ་དུ་གྱུར་ནས། ཀུན་དགའ་བོས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ལ་འདི་སྐད་ཅེས་གསོལ་ཏོ། །ལྷ་སྦྱིན་གྱིས་འདས་པའི་དུས་ན་ཡང་རྙེད་པ་དང་གྲགས་པའི་སླད་དུ་ལུས་ དང་སྲོག་སྟོང་པའི་ལས་བགྱིས་པ་ཅི་ལྟ་བུ་ལགས་ཞེས་གསོལ་པ་དང་། བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་ཀུན་དགའ་བོ་ལ་བཀའ་སྩལ་པ། ཀུན་དགའ་བོ་སྔོན་འདས་པའི་དུས་ན། བསྐལ་པ་གྲངས་མེད་དཔག་ཏུ་མེད་བསམ་གྱིས་མི་ཁྱབ་པའི་ཕ་རོལ་ན། འཛམ་བུའི་གླིང་འདིར་ཡུལ་་་ཌ་་ན་བྲམ་ཟེ་ཧ་ཡི་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ཞིག་ཡོད་དེ། དེས་རིགས་མཉམ་པ་ལས་ཆུང་མ་བླངས་ཏེ་རིང་པོར་མ་ལོན་པར་ཆུང་མ་སེམས་ཅན་དང་ལྡན་པར་གྱུར་ཏེ། ཟླ་བ་དགུ་ཚང་བ་ན་བུ་ཁྱེའུ་ཞིག་བཙས་ཏེ། དེ་ནས་བཙས་སྟོན་ཆེན་པོ་བྱས་ནས། བུའི་མིང་ཡང་ལེགས་ཚོལ་ཞེས་བྱ་བར་བཏགས་ཏེ། མ་མ་ལ་གཏད་ནས་གསོས་སོ། །དེ་ནས་ཡང་སེམས་ཅན་དང་ལྡན་པར་གྱུར་ཏེ། སྔོན་མ་དེ་མཉེན་ཞིང་དེས་པ་ལས་སེམས་ཅན་དང་ལྡན་པའི་འོག་ཏུ་གཏུམ་ཞིང་ཁྲོ་བར་གྱུར་ཏོ། ། དེ་ནས་ཟླ་བ་དགུ་ཚང་བ་དང་ཁྱེའུ་ཞིག་བཙས་ཏེ། དེ་ལྟར་མ་ཡང་སྔོན་ལས་གྱུར་པས། བུའི་མིང་ཡང་ཉེས་ཚོལ་

住在园林里。当时，提婆达多虽然出家了，但由于贪恋利养，便以无间业推倒山崖来压佛，又在佛的脚上钉入木刺，还放纵狂象，破坏和合僧团，杀害漏尽的比丘尼，做了这些不善业后，害怕来世成熟，便去六外道师那里请教。六外道师也宣说了恶见之法，说做恶事也不会变成罪恶，行善也不会变成福德。他对此深信不疑，断绝了善根。当时，阿难因为疼爱兄弟的缘故，非常不高兴，哭着对世尊说道：提婆达多愚痴，做了许多不善的错事，断绝了善根，也令释迦族蒙羞。世尊告诉阿难：提婆达多不仅今生为了利养和名声而断绝善根，过去世也曾为了利养和名声而做过舍弃身命的事情。这时，众比丘心生疑惑。阿难便问世尊道：提婆达多过去世为了利养和名声而做过舍弃身命的事情是怎样的呢？世尊告诉阿难：阿难，过去无量无数不可思议劫之前，在此赡部洲，有个地方叫……，那里有个婆罗门名叫哈义。他娶了同种姓的女子为妻，没过多久，妻子便怀了孕。九个月后，生了一个男孩。于是举行了盛大的诞生庆祝会，给孩子取名为“善寻”，交给母亲抚养。后来，她又怀孕了。与之前温顺贤良不同，这次怀孕后变得凶狠暴躁。九个月后，又生了一个男孩。这样，母亲也因为前世的业力而改变了，给孩子取名为“恶寻”。

He was staying in the grove. At that time, Devadatta, although ordained, due to his attachment to gain, committed the deeds of uninterrupted karma by pushing down a mountain cliff to crush the Buddha, planting wooden thorns on his feet, releasing a mad elephant, causing dissension in the harmonious Sangha, and killing a nun who had exhausted her defilements. Having committed these unwholesome deeds, he feared their maturation in future lives and went to the six heretical teachers to inquire. The six teachers also taught the doctrine of evil views, saying that doing evil would not become sin, and doing good would not become merit. He believed in this and severed his roots of virtue. At that time, Ananda, out of love for his brother, was very unhappy and wept, saying to the Blessed One: "Devadatta is foolish and has committed many unwholesome misdeeds, severing his roots of virtue and causing shame to the Shakya clan." The Blessed One told Ananda: "Devadatta has not only severed his roots of virtue in this life for the sake of gain and fame, but in the past he also did deeds of abandoning body and life for the sake of gain and fame." At this, the monks became doubtful. Ananda then asked the Blessed One: "How did Devadatta do deeds of abandoning body and life for the sake of gain and fame in the past?" The Blessed One told Ananda: "Ananda, in the past, countless immeasurable and inconceivable eons ago, in this Jambudvipa, there was a place called... where there was a Brahmin named Haya. He took a wife from the same caste, and not long after, his wife became pregnant. After nine months, she gave birth to a boy. Then they held a grand birth celebration and named the child 'Good Seeker,' entrusting him to his mother to raise. Later, she became pregnant again. Unlike her previous gentleness and virtue, after this pregnancy she became fierce and irritable. After nine months, she gave birth to another boy. Thus, the mother also changed due to her past karma, and the child was named 'Evil Seeker.'
