Then, all the gods of the Realm of Form descended and dwelt in the sky above. The Bodhisattva practiced extremely difficult austerities, making his body completely unusable. Seeing these deeds of disregarding body and life for the sake of the Dharma, tears fell like rain, weeping, and divine flowers fell like rain, making offerings. At that time, Indra transformed into his former body and said these words to the king: "King, what do you seek by performing such difficult austerities? Do you seek the kingship of a Chakravartin? Or Indra? Or the kingship of a Mara? Or the ruler of the three realms? What do you seek?" The Bodhisattva replied: "What I desire is not the great enjoyment of the three realms. Whatever merit I do, I desire the unsurpassed Bodhi." Indra said: "Like this, destroying your body and making it unusable, experiencing suffering down to the bone, do you not regret it?" The king said: "I do not regret it." Indra said: "Although you say you do not regret it, looking at your trembling body, your breath fading, unable even to speak, how can one believe that you do not regret it?" The king said: "From beginning to end, I have not had even a hair's breadth of regret. Whatever I desire will surely be accomplished. If these words I speak are true, then by the truth of my words, may my body be restored as before, without any wounds." As soon as he spoke, the king's body became even more beautiful than before. All the gods and humans in the world rejoiced and were amazed, finding it exceedingly wondrous. At that time, that King Shibi was the present Buddha. The Bhagavan, even in past times, for the sake of many sentient beings, did not spare his own life. Now the Bhagavan's ocean of Dharma is complete, the victory banner of Dharma is raised, the drum of Dharma is beaten, and the lamp of Dharma is brightly lit. The time for benefiting and bringing happiness to sentient beings has arrived. Why not teach the Dharma and abandon all sentient beings?

Contemplate transcending suffering. At that time, the Brahma King folded his palms before the Tathagata. How did the Tathagata seek the Dharma in his previous lives? He even gave up his head for the sake of sentient beings. He praised and extolled him. At that time, the Bhagavan, in accordance with the Brahma King's request, went to the place of giving fearlessness to the deer in the Nara Forest in Varanasi, and turned the wheel of Dharma. Thus, by turning the wheel of Dharma, the Three Jewels also became manifest in the world. At that time, after saying this, all the gods, humans, nagas, yakshas, asuras, and the eight classes rejoiced and followed him. The first chapter, showing various examples. Second, the chapter of the Great Being giving his body to the tigress. Thus I have heard, at one time, the Bhagavan was in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden. At that time, the Bhagavan, when it was time for alms, put on his lower garment and robes, took his bowl, and went to alms with Ananda. At that time, in that city, there was an old woman who had two sons who were always stealing. The owner of the property caught them and brought them before the judge, and they were sentenced to death according to the law. The wicked people were afraid and were taken to the place of execution. The Bhagavan was coming from afar, and the old woman, mother, and three children saw him. They prostrated in the direction the Buddha was coming from. Lord of the gods, please have compassion, my son is about to die, please save them. The Bhagavan heard this, and the Tathagata, with great compassion, had compassion for them. In order to save their lives, the Bhagavan ordered Ananda to go and ask the king. The king also released them according to the Bhagavan's command. They remembered the Bhagavan's kindness and felt great joy. They went to where the Bhagavan was, and after arriving, they bowed their heads to the feet of the Buddha, folded their palms, and addressed the Bhagavan.

Thus they pleaded. "O Blessed One, by your great kindness, we have only a little life left. Lord of the gods, please consider with compassion and grant us ordination." The Blessed One replied, "Welcome." Immediately, their hair and beard fell off, and their clothes turned into monastic robes. With extremely pure and steadfast minds, the Blessed One taught them the Dharma accordingly, and they eradicated defilements and became Arhats. Their old mother also attained the state of once-returner by hearing the Dharma. At that time, Ananda, seeing such wondrous events, praised, "The Tathagata possesses such qualities!" And he thought, "What good deeds did these three, the old woman, mother, and son, perform in the past that they now meet the Blessed One, escape great evils, attain the bliss of Nirvana, and achieve benefit and happiness with one body? It is excellent!" The Blessed One, knowing his thoughts, said to Ananda, "These three, mother and sons, are not only saved by me in this present time, but also in the past they were saved by my kindness." Ananda asked, "Blessed One, how did you save these three, mother and sons, in the past? Please explain, Blessed One." The Blessed One said to Ananda, "In the past, countless eons ago, in this Jambudvipa, there was a king named Great Chariot, who ruled over five thousand small kingdoms. That king had three sons: the eldest was named Great Sound, the middle one was named Great God, and the youngest was named Great Being. The youngest son, from a young age, possessed loving-kindness and compassion, and regarded all beings as his only child. At that time, the king, along with his ministers, queen, and princes, went out for a stroll. While they were resting for a while, the three princes went into a garden and saw a tigress who had given birth to cubs a few days ago, and was threatened by hunger and thirst, about to eat her cubs. The king
