Do they not feel that they are falling into the ocean of sorrow just for the sake of happiness? Be diligent in virtuous Dharma! Now, because of missing you, our flesh is as painful as being cut into pieces. Is it right for you to practice great compassion like this? Then, that deity comforted them with various beautiful words, making them happy, so their parents also became slightly happy, made a box of seven treasures, put the bones in it and buried it, and then built a stupa on it. The deity also returned to his abode. The king and many attendants also returned to the palace. The Blessed One said to Ananda: What do you think in your heart? Who do you think the great chariot king was at that time? He is now my father, King Suddhodana. The queen of the king at that time was now my mother, Queen Maya. The eldest son, Great Sound, at that time was Maitreya. The second son, Great God, was Bhamisutra. The youngest son, Great Mind Being, at that time, do not think of him as someone else, it is me now. The little tigers at that time were these two people. I had previously rescued them from disasters for a long time, saved their lives, and made them happy. Now that I have become a Buddha, I have also freed them from disasters and completely liberated them from the great suffering of samsara. Both of them attained the fruit of enlightenment, bowed their heads at the feet of the Blessed One, and then returned to the heavenly realm. The next morning, Ananda reported to the Blessed One, saying, "Yesterday, there were two deities who came and made offerings to the Blessed One. The light from their bodies illuminated everywhere and made it very beautiful. What kind of good deeds did they do in the past to obtain such a result?" The Blessed One said to Ananda, "In the past, after the Buddha Light-Protecting passed away into Nirvana, when the True Dharma was about to decline, there were two Brahmins who took the eight precepts for one day and one night. One of them made a vow to be born as a god in the future, and the other made a vow to become a king in the future. Then they each went home. When one of them returned home, his wife called him to eat, and he said, 'I have taken the precept of not eating after noon in the Buddhist Dharma, so I don't want to eat.' His wife said, 'You are a wanderer. If you believe in the precepts of our own religion, why do you take the precepts of other teachers? If you don't eat with me, I will treat you like other wanderers, not allow you to gather and talk with us, and drive you away.' When he heard this, he couldn't bear it, and in a panic, he ate with his wife at the wrong time. The two people each died according to the length of their lifespan. The one who vowed to become a king was born into the lineage of a king because he kept the precepts. The one who vowed to be born as a god was born as a dragon because he broke the precepts.
