If there are thirty-six thousand kingdoms with power, will they all submit, or only half? Please advise.” The great king then commanded, “Bring half the kingdoms and the laws.” Then, the king of the Golden Land, with eight thousand kingdoms, came to Jetavana Grove, prostrated before the emanation of the king, and thought, “This great king's appearance is better than mine, but his power is not as great as mine.” The King of Miracles said to the minister Rinpoche, “Give your bow to the king of the Golden Land.” The king took the bow, but could not lift it. Then, the King of Miracles took the bow, drew the bowstring with his little finger, and said to the king of the Golden Land, “Draw this bow.” The king of the Golden Land took the bow, but could not even move the bowstring. Then, the King of Miracles took the bow and drew it. Just by drawing the bowstring, the universe of the great thousand worlds shook and trembled. Then, he took an arrow and shot it. As soon as the arrow was shot, it immediately turned into five arrows. From the tips of these arrows came countless rays of light, each ray as large as a lotus chariot wheel. On each lotus, there was a wheel-turning king with the seven precious possessions. These rays of light illuminated the universe of the three thousand great thousand worlds, and benefited all beings in the five realms of samsara. In the places where the gods lived, they saw the light and heard the sound of the Dharma being taught, and their bodies and minds were completely purified. Some attained the fruits from stream-enterer to arhat. Some generated the mind of unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. Some abided in the irreversible ground. Beings belonging to the human realm, seeing the Buddha's light and hearing the Buddha's teachings, were overjoyed. Some attained the fruits from stream-enterer to once-returner, as well as ordination and the fruit of arhat. Countless beings generated the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment.

Having generated the mind of perfect enlightenment, they remained in the irreversible stage. Those belonging to the realm of pretas (hungry ghosts), touched by the rays of the Buddha and hearing the Dharma, were all filled with food. Without suffering in body and mind, they became satisfied. All beings generated compassionate minds, venerated the Buddha, and were liberated from the preta realm, reborn in the realms of gods and humans. The sentient beings belonging to the animal realm, seeing the Buddha's rays, had all their minds of attachment and hatred pacified. The darkness of ignorance was also awakened. All beings rejoiced and had faith in the Buddha, liberated from the animal realm, and were reborn in the realms of gods and humans. The sentient beings in the hell realms, touched by the Buddha's rays, had their coldness turned to warmth and their heat turned to coolness. The torment of suffering also ceased, and with great joy in body and mind, they had faith in the Buddha, were liberated from the hell realms, and were reborn in the realms of gods and humans. At that time, King Kapina the Great and the minor kings of Golden Land, seeing such miracles, generated immense faith. With faith, they were free from dust and defilement, and pure Dharma eyes arose for the Dharma. The minds of eighty thousand minor kings were satisfied. Immediately, the Buddha withdrew the miracles and again manifested the Buddha's body, surrounded by the Sangha of monks in front and behind, showing them abiding. Then, the king of Golden Land also requested ordination from the Bhagavan (Blessed One), and the Bhagavan said, "Welcome!" As he said this, his hair and beard fell off on their own, and he became a monk wearing saffron robes. By contemplating the Dharma, his defilements were exhausted, and he became an Arhat. Then, Ananda asked the Bhagavan, "What merit did this king of Golden Land perform in the past that he has such a noble and high lineage, such excellent qualities, and upon meeting the Buddha Bhagavan, immediately exhausted his defilements?" The Bhagavan told Ananda, "The fruits of karma ripen according to the actions of these sentient beings. In the past,

At that time, the Buddha Light Protector descended into the world. After that Buddha passed into nirvana, a householder built a stupa, making it a dwelling place for the Sangha, and also provided the four necessities of life. After a long time, that stupa also decayed, and the necessities of life, such as beds, clothes, and food, were cut off. Then, that householder had a son who was a monk, and he preached the Dharma to many people, and again restored the stupa, providing clothes, bedding, food, drink, and beds, and other necessities. He provided the necessities of life in harmony with those people, and made this aspiration: 'May we be strong and wealthy in the future, and long-lived, and may we meet the Buddha who descends into the world, and after hearing the Dharma, may the fruit we obtain not be mediocre.' Ananda, at that time, that householder's son, the monk, was the great King Kapina of the land of Gold. He taught the Dharma, restored the stupa, and provided the necessities of life, which amounted to eighty thousand small kingdoms. The Blessed One spoke thus, and many of the retinue generated irreversible minds, rejoiced, and were exceedingly delighted. The chapter of the Great King Kapina, the twenty-fourth, is complete. Twenty-fifth, the chapter of the Bhikshuni Utpala. Thus I have heard, at one time, the Blessed One was dwelling in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden. King Prasenajit had passed away, and the prince had ascended to the throne. Because the king did not rule according to the Dharma, elephants trampled the people, and countless were killed. At that time, some women of noble birth and virtuous conduct, seeing such a situation, became disgusted with household life, and all went forth and became bhikshunis. Among those who went forth, some were of the Shakya clan, and some were of the royal family. They possessed unparalleled beauty and pleasing appearance, and having abandoned about five hundred prominent families, all the people of the country rejoiced in them and provided them with the necessities of life. Those bhikshunis said to each other like this
