admonition. I am old and tired from all the work. If I have to entrust the family property to you daughters-in-law, who among you can hold the key to the treasury? When asked this, all six elder daughters-in-law said they could not. Then, the youngest daughter-in-law said that she could. After that, the head of the household handed over all the keys to the treasury, and the daughter-in-law accepted and practiced it accordingly. Every morning, she would get up early and sweep the inside and outside of the house clean. After that, she would prepare the food and serve it to the parents-in-law and other elders in order. After that, she would give food to the servants and employees. After assigning work to each person, she would eat her own meal. Because she always did this, the father-in-law also felt that this daughter-in-law of his was different from others and was not an ordinary person. He thought to himself, "Why is this? Why doesn't she do as my daughter's mother taught her?" So he said, "When you left home, your mother always said to wear good clothes, eat delicious food, and look in the mirror often. What do these words mean?" When asked this, the daughter-in-law knelt down on both knees and replied, "My mother taught me to wear good clothes, which means that I should always take care of the clothes I wear on top and not let them become old. When guests or outsiders come, I should not wear bad clothes. Always eat delicious food does not mean to enjoy delicious food, but rather that whoever is hungry will find everything delicious. Always look in the mirror does not mean to look at a stick or an iron mirror, but rather to get up early, sweep the inside and outside clean, sweep the floor, lay out the bedding, and do all these tasks well. This is what my mother taught me." After replying in this way, the father-in-law loved this daughter-in-law even more, and entrusted all the affairs of the household to her, and everyone lived a happy and joyful life. At that time, a bird was eating rice on an island in the sea. It was carrying a spike of rice and flying, and when it flew over the palace, a spike of rice fell down and landed on top of the palace. That spike of rice was

Then he offered it to the king. The king thought, "Such good rice can surely be used as medicine, so let's use it as seeds." So he divided it among all the ministers and ordered them to cultivate it. At that time, that householder also received a small amount, and returning home, he said to his wife, "Cultivate this rice." The wife, according to the instructions, sent other servants and slaves to cultivate the fertile fields. In this way, the rice grew well and yielded a large harvest. The rice cultivated by others did not grow at all because it was not well managed. At that time, the king's consort fell ill, and after the doctor's diagnosis, he said, "This illness can be cured if rice from the ocean island is given." The king remembered that he had once ordered everyone to cultivate rice from the ocean island separately, so he asked, "Has anyone cultivated rice from the ocean island?" Some ministers replied, "The rice was cultivated, but it did not grow." Others replied, "The rice was all eaten by mice, and there is none left." At that time, that householder also returned home and asked his wife, "Did the rice that I asked you to cultivate before grow? The king's consort is ill and needs medicine." The wife replied, "The cultivated rice grew very well. Not only is there enough for one person's medicine, but enough to cure the people of an entire region." The householder took some of the rice and offered it to the king. The king used this rice to treat the consort's illness, and the consort recovered. The king was very happy and gave many rewards. At that time, the king of Śrītiṭi and the king who lived in Śrāvastī (present-day Uttar Pradesh, India) were not on good terms and were constantly fighting. At that time, the king of Śrītiṭi thought, "Does the king of Śrāvastī have intelligent, learned, and wise ministers?" So he sent a messenger to Śrāvastī, giving the messenger a pair of male and female geese that were like mother and son, with the same feather color, indistinguishable. He instructed them to present the pair of geese and have them distinguish which is the mother and which is the son. The king and ministers looked at them, but no one could distinguish them. After that, the householder returned home, and his wife spoke some words.
