Then he gave the order. Together with the Brahmin, the king went to the pleasure garden. Then the Brahmin said to the king: "O King, you are young and your height is equal to that of a giant, so you cannot bear the heat. Even if you regret it later, it may be too late. You should tie the king's head to the tree and then kill him." Then the king leaned his head against a tree with strong branches and lush leaves, knelt on the ground, and said these words to the Brahmin: "Cut off my head and put it back in my hand, and take it from my hand. With the merit of giving you my head, it is not for Mara, nor for Brahma, nor for Indra, nor for a Chakravartin, nor for the sake of enjoying the happiness of the three realms. But for the sake of seeking the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. It is for the sake of saving many beings and placing them in the happiness of liberation from suffering." At that time, the Brahmin raised his sword and was about to strike, but the tree god became very unhappy and thought: "Why do you do the act of killing this person?" Then he slapped the Brahmin's ear with his palm, and the Brahmin lost his footing and fell to the ground. Then the king looked up at the tree god and said: "In the past, I have given nine hundred and ninety-nine heads to this tree. Now, with this head, I have completed a thousand gifts, and I have also perfected the perfection of generosity. Please do not hinder my unsurpassed Bodhicitta." At that time, the tree god heard the words of the king and restored the Brahmin to his original state. The Brahmin stood up, took his sword, and cut off the king's head. The head fell to the ground, and the earth shook in six ways. The heavenly palace also shook and became uneasy, and wonderful and strange sights appeared. Everyone saw that the Bodhisattva had given his head for the sake of all beings, so they all gathered together and were amazed. Shedding tears like rain, they wept and said these words: "King Moonlight has given his head, and he has also perfected the perfection of generosity." This matter spread everywhere, and King Bimasena heard of it.

The earth was displeased and trembled, and (Vimacena) died with a broken heart. At that time, when the Brahmin took the king's head and left, the minor kings, ministers, queens, and princes threw themselves on the ground, wailing and lamenting. Some vomited blood and died. Some fainted, remembering nothing. Some tore out all their hair. Some tore all their clothes. Some scratched their faces with both hands, wailing and falling to the ground. At that time, the Brahmin, finding the king's head ugly and smelly, did not want it and threw it on the ground and left. Some Brahmins scolded him, saying, "You are very cruel. If you didn't need it from the beginning, why did you take it?" As the Brahmin went on his way, everyone he met scolded him. Because they did not give him food, he became very weak. When he heard on the road that Vimacena had also died, his initial hope was shattered. He became despondent with grief, his heart broke into seven pieces, he vomited blood, and died. King Vimacena and the Brahmin both died and were born in the Avici hell. Those who died grieving for King Moonlight were born as gods in the heavens. Ananda, at that time, at that time, King Moonlight was me now. King Vimacena was the evil Mara. The Brahmin at that time was Devadatta now. The tree goddess at that time was the son of Dagala now. The great minister Moon at that time was Sariputra. At that time, they could not bear to see me die, so they died first. Even in this present time, they cannot bear to see me pass into nirvana, so they have passed into nirvana first. The Blessed One spoke thus. The venerable Ananda and the other retinue praised in unison, "The qualities of the Tathagata are truly wonderful and rare!" They diligently practiced meditation, and some attained the fruits of a renunciant. Some attained the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. They rejoiced and were exceedingly glad at what the Blessed One had said. King Moonlight gave his head in charity.

This is the twenty-second chapter. Twenty-third. The chapter of Minister Hunter's Seven Sons. Thus I have heard, at one time, the Blessed One was in Shravasti, in the garden of Prince Jeta, in the grove of Anathapindika. At that time, King Prasenajit had a minister named Hunter. He was very wealthy and enjoyed great prosperity. He had seven sons. Six of the sons had wives, but the youngest son did not have a wife, so the father thought: I am old, I should find a good woman for this son who does not have a wife. At that time, that householder had a Brahmin friend, and he met and talked with the Brahmin. My youngest son still does not have a wife, and I do not know who to ask for her. You go everywhere and see if there is a beautiful and virtuous, intelligent, long-lived and wealthy woman. You should find someone suitable for my son. The Brahmin agreed, saying, "I will." So he wandered around looking. In a place called Shiridita, he saw five hundred girls picking beautiful flowers together, making garlands to offer to the Buddha. The Brahmin followed the girls and saw them crossing a small river. The other girls took off their shoes, but one girl crossed the river without taking off her shoes. Then, they went on and on, crossing a large river. The other girls took off their clothes and entered the water, but only that girl crossed the river without taking off her clothes. After that, they entered a garden, and the other girls climbed the trees and picked flowers, but only that girl picked flowers on the ground, but the others found more. Then, the Brahmin went to the girl and said, "I want to ask you a question, I hope you can answer well." The girl said, "Ask if you have a question." The Brahmin asked, "When you crossed the river, the other girls took off their shoes, but only you crossed the river without taking off your shoes, what were you thinking?" The girl replied, "Your question is not strange."
