The surrounding environment also covered five hundred yojanas. Immediately, the flowers grew as large as chariot wheels, and the fruits became as large as pots that could hold five 'dre' (a unit of volume). The roots, branches, leaves, and so on, all turned into the seven precious substances, emitting various colors of light, even overpowering the light of the sun and moon. Whoever ate that fruit, its taste surpassed even nectar, and the fragrance permeated everywhere, making all who smelled it happy and satisfied. When the fragrant wind touched the branches and leaves, it produced a very pleasing sound of Dharma. All people developed a very strong faith in that tree. Then, the Bhagavan taught the Dharma, which was in accordance with the minds of all, and there were very many who obtained fruits and were reborn as gods. The next day, King Udayana invited the Buddha and made offerings. At that time, the Tathagata emanated two jeweled mountains to the left and right of his body, which were very tall, beautiful, and shone like the colors of various jewels. Various kinds of trees grew on those mountains, flowers and fruits flourished, and very melodious sounds arose. On the summit of one mountain, there were fruits with a hundred flavors, which were very soft and sweet, and many people ate there to their heart's content. On the summit of one mountain, very sweet and soft grass grew, and he emanated the animal realms eating and being satisfied there as they wished. The Bhagavan taught the Dharma to them according to their abilities, liberating their minds and generating the unsurpassed Bodhicitta, and the number of those reborn as high-ranking gods was also very large. The next day, King Shunchida invited the Buddha and made offerings. After the Bhagavan rinsed his mouth, the water from rinsing his mouth, when poured back onto the ground, turned into a jeweled pond, with a circumference of two hundred yojanas, adorned with the seven precious substances, shining with various colors. The water of that pond possessed eight qualities, and the bottom of the pond was also covered with sand of the seven precious substances, filled with various kinds of lotuses as large as chariot wheels.

There were also blue, yellow, white, red, variegated, and butter dregs, etc. The fragrance of that lotus also spread everywhere and was delicious. The lotus shone with light like the sacred color, and that light illuminated the entire heaven and earth. All the numerous retinues gazed at that jewel pond, and joyfully praised it. Then, the Blessed One prepared the implements for the numerous retinues, and taught many kinds of Dharma, enabling them to understand and realize. Some aroused the unsurpassed Bodhicitta. Some attained fruition and were born as gods in the heavens, and also accumulated immeasurable merit. The next day, King Indravarmi prepared the implements for offering and invited the Buddha. On that day, the Blessed One, on the four sides of that jewel pond, had eight times eight, a total of sixty-four great canals, and the water flowed back into the pond. From the sound of the flowing water, the five faculties and five powers, the seven branches of enlightenment, the noble eightfold path, the three doors of liberation, the six superknowledges, the six perfections, great compassion, great love, the four immeasurables, etc., arose. Various sounds of Dharma appeared, and from that sound of Dharma, understanding and realization arose, ultimately attaining the fruit of Buddhahood, being born as gods in the heavens, and accumulating merit was also extremely abundant. The next day, King Brahma-datta invited the Buddha and prepared the implements for offering. On that day, the Blessed One emitted golden-colored rays of light from the gate of his face, illuminating the entire great thousandfold world-system. All sentient beings touched by that light were freed from the three poisons and the five obscurations, and their bodies and minds were extremely blissful, just like monks entering the third dhyana. The numerous retinues were devoted to the qualities of the Buddha, and the Blessed One taught the Dharma, arousing unsurpassed Bodhicitta, being born as gods in the heavens, and accumulating merit was also countless. The next day, the Licchavis invited the Buddha and prepared the implements for offering. On that day
