If the Shramana Dama Mita displays four, we shall display eight. If the Shramana Dama Mita displays eight, we shall display sixteen. If the Shramana Dama Mita displays sixteen, we shall display thirty-two. No matter how many magical displays of the Teacher's Dharma the Shramana Dama Mita displays, we shall display magical displays of the Teacher's Dharma like two or three times that amount. Then, the six teachers, including the Completer, etc., went to where King Image Wise was, and having gone before him, they said to King Image Wise, "Victory and long life to you!" And then they spoke thus: "O god, we possess magical displays and speak of knowledge. The Shramana Dama Mita also claims to possess magical displays and speaks of knowledge. Since he speaks of knowledge, it is fitting that he compete with those who speak of knowledge in magical displays of the Teacher's Dharma. Please let us compete." King Image Wise laughed and said, "You are so foolish! The Buddha is great in qualities, great in miraculous powers, and unimpeded in magical displays. Those like you are like fireflies competing with the sun, or water in a hoofprint comparing to the ocean, or a cowardly fox competing with a lion, or a mouse competing with Mount Meru in height. The difference in size is obvious. To look at it badly, you are extremely foolish!" The six teachers spoke again, "The king has not seen the signs that will appear. If we compete in great magical displays, it will be apparent. After the competition, whoever wins will be apparent." The king said, "If you wish to compete, it depends on seeing the competition. I fear you will be ashamed. If you are going to compete in magical displays, then let everyone see your magical displays." The six teachers said, "Now, in seven days, we shall compete in magical displays. Please prepare the place where we shall compete." Thus spoke the six teachers.

说完之后，返回来，国王具藏前往佛陀所在的地方，到达后，这样禀告道：‘六师说要和世尊比试神通，我即使阻止也无法阻止。请世尊显示神通的力量，从邪见中扭转过来，安置于善法之中。也请让我们看到世尊显示神通。’世尊对国王具藏这样说道：‘我，自在时知者，请你打扫一个宽敞的地方，作为比试的场所。’说完之后，国王具藏命令众多大臣，在一个宽敞舒适的地方打扫干净，布置狮子座，竖立起胜幢和幡旗，装饰得非常美丽。像这样，比试神通的时间，在那一天，一切都能看见。那时，如来与僧众一起从王舍城出发，前往广严城（Vaisali）。在广严城，离车（Licchavi）人和很多人迎接如来。王舍城的人们也早就知道并认识到世尊前往广严城，六师也这样说：‘沙门瞿昙的神通我们无法匹敌，’你们不相信，所以从已经约定的比试时间逃跑了，逃到广严城去了。’这样宣扬着，六师的傲慢更加增长，各自兴高采烈，前往那里。那时，国王具藏也准备了五百辆车乘，国王和大臣等眷属一万四千人，也带着生活的粮食，跟随着世尊前往广严城。六师也到达广严城后，对离车人这样说道：‘如果我们和沙门瞿昙比试神通，那么就在七天后比试神通。’之后，离车人前往世尊所在的地方，这样禀告道：‘非常愚蠢的六师自认为具有功德，说要和如来比试神通，请世尊降伏他们。

Having spoken, King Rupadhatu returned and went to where the Buddha was. Having arrived, he said, 'The six teachers say they will compete with the Blessed One in miracles, but even if I try to stop them, I cannot. Please, Blessed One, show the power of your miracles, turn them away from wrong views, and establish them in virtue. Please also let us see the miracles you perform.' The Blessed One said to King Rupadhatu, 'I, the Knower of Time, ask you to prepare a spacious place for the competition.' Having said this, King Rupadhatu ordered many ministers to clean a spacious and comfortable place, set up lion thrones, erect victory banners and flags, and decorate it beautifully. Thus, the time for the miracle competition was set, and on that day, everything could be seen. At that time, the Tathagata, together with the Sangha, departed from Rajagriha and proceeded to Vaishali. In Vaishali, the Licchavis and many people welcomed the Tathagata. The people of Rajagriha also knew and realized that the Blessed One had gone to Vaishali, and the six teachers said, 'We cannot match the miracles of the Shramana Gautama, and you do not believe it, so he has fled from the agreed time of the competition and fled to Vaishali.' Proclaiming this, the arrogance of the six teachers increased even more, and each of them joyfully went there. At that time, King Rupadhatu also prepared five hundred chariots, and fourteen thousand of the king's and ministers' retinues also took provisions for life and followed the Blessed One to Vaishali. The six teachers also arrived in Vaishali and said to the Licchavis, 'If we compete with the Shramana Gautama in miracles, then we will compete in miracles in seven days.' After that, the Licchavis went to where the Blessed One was and reported, 'The very foolish six teachers think they have merit and say they will compete with the Tathagata in miracles. Please, Blessed One, subdue them.'

祈请。世尊说道：我知晓时机。之后，离（Lī…）等地方的人们，像具器（Gzugs can snying po）国王那样准备好用具。与其明天比试，不如今天世尊与僧众一起前往某地。某地的国王邬陀衍那（Udrāyana）也与大臣们一起，迎接如来。广严城（ཡངས་པ་ཅན་）的人们本打算明天来拜见如来，但听到如来已前往某地。六师外道也听到世尊已离开，比之前更加傲慢，又去往世尊所在之处。当时，离（Lī…）等也准备了五百辆车，带着七万眷属和具器（Gzugs can snying po）的眷属，前往某地观看佛陀和六师外道比试神通。六师外道到达某地后，先对邬陀衍那国王说道：沙门瞿昙（Śramaṇa Gautama）无法在此停留，逃到我们这里来了。请国王给我们机会与我们比试神通。邬陀衍那对佛陀说道：六师外道说要与世尊比试神通，您知道吗？世尊说道：我知晓时机。之后，邬陀衍那像具器（Gzugs can snying po）国王那样准备好用具。世尊与比丘僧团一起，前往瓦尔吉（Varjī）。瓦尔吉（Varjī）的国王舜质达（Śun-cida）也与很多人一起迎接如来。某地的人们也才听说如来已前往瓦尔吉（Varjī），六师外道也随后前往。当时，邬陀衍那国王与八万眷属以及具器（Gzugs can snying po）国王等所有人一起前往瓦尔吉（Varjī）。之后，六师外道对舜质达国王说道：请让我们与沙门瞿昙（Śramaṇa Gautama）比试神通。国王也同样祈请后，世尊说道：我知晓时机。国王也准备好用具后，世尊与比丘僧团一起，前往底吉扎西日（Tīkīcaśiri）

The people of Vaiśālī intended to come to pay homage to the Tathagata tomorrow, but when they heard that the Tathagata had gone to a certain place. The six heretical teachers also heard that the Blessed One had left, and became more arrogant than before, and went to where the Blessed One was. At that time, the Lī… also prepared five hundred vehicles, with seventy thousand retinues and the retinues of Gzugs can snying po, went to a certain place to watch the Buddha and the six heretical teachers compete in supernatural powers. After the six heretical teachers arrived at a certain place, they first said to King Udrāyana: The Śramaṇa Gautama cannot stay here and has fled to us. Please give the king a chance to compete with us in supernatural powers. Udrāyana said to the Buddha: The six heretical teachers say they want to compete with the Blessed One in supernatural powers, do you know? The Blessed One said: I know the time. Then, Udrāyana prepared the utensils like King Gzugs can snying po. The Blessed One and the Sangha of monks went to Varjī. King Śun-cida of Varjī also welcomed the Tathagata with many people. The people of a certain place also heard that the Tathagata had gone to Varjī, and the six heretical teachers followed. At that time, King Udrāyana went to Varjī with eighty thousand retinues and all the kings such as King Gzugs can snying po. Then, the six heretical teachers said to King Śun-cida: Please let us compete with the Śramaṇa Gautama in supernatural powers. After the king also prayed in the same way, the Blessed One said: I know the time. After the king also prepared the utensils, the Blessed One and the Sangha of monks went to Tīkīcaśiri.
