Within, he possessed three kinds of wisdom, being skilled in the faculties of sentient beings. Observing those two boys, he felt they did not seem to have the fortune to renounce, so he left them without urging. Later, that household had another son, with a handsome and pleasing appearance. Again, he went to that household and requested the child, saying, "The child is still young and cannot work, and I am also poor and cannot support him. Wait a while, and when he grows up, I will give him to you." Later, the child grew up and became intelligent. The father entrusted him with wealth and goods and allowed him to do business. At another time, Yasas himself went to him, taught him the Dharma, and had him focus his mind single-pointedly. He instructed him, "If a virtuous thought arises, place a white pebble. If a non-virtuous thought arises, place a black pebble, and from time to time, count which is more." Upagupta also followed the instructions, placing pebbles according to the virtuous and non-virtuous thoughts that arose. Initially, the black pebbles were very numerous, and the white pebbles were very few. Then, gradually, the black and white became equal. Later, because he did not abandon his mental effort, there were no black pebbles, only white pebbles remained. He accomplished virtuous thoughts and attained the first fruit. At that time, a prostitute from that city sent a maid to Upagupta to buy flowers. Upagupta, being naturally upright, gave the maid many flowers, leaving her without dissatisfaction. The maid took the flowers and presented them to her mistress, who was very surprised and said to the maid, "The price of flowers bought before is the same as the price of flowers bought today, so why were there few before and many now? Did you deceive me before?" The maid said, "Today's flower seller is wonderfully upright, and because he is without deceit, I bought many." That man is handsome and beautiful, and if the mistress sees him, she will be pleased. Having said this, the prostitute sent for him. 因为贪恋珍贵的衣服而秘密地，杀死了王子并埋葬了尸体。之后国王寻找住所，从妓女的住所找到了王子的尸体，于是把那个妓女的脚和手都砍断了。耳朵和鼻子也割掉，绑在木头上，竖立在坟墓里。即使这样做了，仍然没有断气，就去邬波鞠多那里，妓女这样说道：以前我可怜的时候不让来，现在变得不好了，要去哪里呢？邬波鞠多说道：我来这里不是为了贪图你的财富，而是因为怜悯你才来的。说完，就开示了这四种无常的法。这个身体是不净的，痛苦的，空性的，无我的。一一观察，是不能信任的。愚蠢无知的人才会贪恋它。妓女听了这些法，对法生起了清净的法眼。邬波鞠多获得了不退转的果位。之后，耶奢迦从那个施主那里要来了年轻人，说要让他出家。施主也同样献出了年轻人，带到寺庙，授予了十条戒律。之后，到了二十岁，就受了比丘戒。受比丘戒的时候，通过祈请和四种羯磨受了比丘戒，成为了阿罗汉。具有三种明和六种神通，成为了言说和无畏都无穷无尽的人。聚集了很多人，开始说法。那时，恶魔波旬在众多眷属中像下雨一样降下金币，所有人都贪恋金币，不听法了。第二天，聚集了众多眷属说法的时候，恶魔波旬降下了花环雨，扰乱了所有人的心。第三天，聚集了众多眷属说法的时候，魔王变出了一头青蓝色的大象，从口中生出六根象牙，每根象牙上都有一个水池，每个水池里都有七朵花，每朵花里都有七个水晶女孩，那些女孩们各自演奏着乐器。

Because of greed for precious clothes, they secretly killed the prince and buried the body. Then the king searched for the residence and found the prince's body in the prostitute's residence. So, they cut off the prostitute's feet and hands. They also cut off her ears and nose, tied her to a tree, and erected it in the cemetery. Even after doing this, she still didn't die, so she went to Upagupta. The prostitute said, "You wouldn't let me come when I was pitiful before, but now that I've become bad, where can I go?" Upagupta said, "I didn't come here because I coveted your wealth, but because I pity you." Then he taught these four kinds of impermanent dharmas. This body is impure, suffering, empty, and without self. Examining each one, it cannot be trusted. Only foolish and ignorant people are attached to it. The prostitute heard these dharmas and developed a pure Dharma eye for the Dharma. Upagupta attained the fruit of non-retrogression. Then, Yashas asked the householder for the young man, saying that he would ordain him. The householder also offered the young man in the same way, took him to the monastery, and gave him the ten precepts. Then, when he reached the age of twenty, he received the Bhikshu vows. When he received the Bhikshu vows, he received the Bhikshu vows through supplication and the four karmas, and became an Arhat. He possessed the three kinds of knowledge and the six kinds of supernormal powers, and became someone whose speech and fearlessness were inexhaustible. He gathered many people and began to teach the Dharma. At that time, the evil Mara Papiyas rained down gold coins like rain among many attendants, and everyone was greedy for the gold coins and did not listen to the Dharma. The next day, when he gathered many attendants to teach the Dharma, the evil Mara Papiyas rained down garlands of flowers, disturbing everyone's minds. On the third day, when he gathered many attendants to teach the Dharma, the king of demons transformed into a huge blue elephant, with six tusks emerging from its mouth, each tusk having a pond, each pond having seven flowers, and each flower having seven crystal girls, and those girls were playing musical instruments separately.
