Then the ministers reported: Now we have caught the evildoer, and if the crime is exposed, he should be sentenced, but the king remains silent. What is the reason for this? The king said: This is what I ordered. After that, the ministers were unhappy and left with resentment. After going outside, they said to each other: The king is the enemy who has eaten all of our children. We cannot rule the country together with a cannibal king. Such an enemy who causes harm should be eliminated. After everyone agreed, they decided to kill the king. Outside that city, there was a garden with a pond where the king went to bathe every day. The ministers hid the army in the garden. When the king was bathing in the pond, the army surrounded and captured him, preparing to kill him. The king was frightened and said to the army: Why have you surrounded and captured me? The ministers said to the king: The duty of a king is to nurture many people, but the king has eaten the children of the people, causing all the people to become homeless and suffer unbearably, so now we will kill you. The king said: I am indeed guilty of doing this, but I will not do it like this from now on. Can you let me go this time? The ministers said to him: Unless black snow falls from the sky, or a black snake appears on your head.

After that, the ministers waited a little while, allowing him to calm down, and the king made this vow in his heart: "By the power of all the good deeds I have done in the past, and by governing righteously as a king, and by all the merit of offering to hermits, may I be transformed into a Rakshasa who can fly in the sky." After making this aspiration, he spoke these words. As soon as he made the aspiration, he transformed into a Rakshasa, flew into the sky above, and said these words to the ministers: "Although you conspired to kill me, my merit has allowed me to survive. From now on, you must endure! I will devour all your wives and poor, destitute children." Having said this, he flew to the mountain and never ate human flesh again. Many people were also frightened and always fled and hid. After that, the Rakshasa began to eat people, and many Rakshasas gathered together, and his retinue and servants also increased. The Rakshasa's retinue pleaded with the Rakshasa Barefoot, saying: "Now that we have become your retinue and servants, please grant us a grand feast." The Rakshasa Barefoot also agreed, and they discussed killing five hundred kings to hold a feast. So they went and captured kings and imprisoned them in a cave. They found four hundred and ninety-nine, but were one king short. Those kings in the cave said to each other: "We are pitiful now, and there is no one to be our savior. If the powerful Sutasoma comes here, we might be saved. Let's plead with the Rakshasa to bring Sutasoma here." So they pleaded with the Rakshasa king, saying: "King, if you are going to hold a feast, merely killing human kings to hold a feast will not make the feast good. Instead, bring the one named Sutasoma."

How could I meet a begging Brahmin on the way to bathe, and I said that I would come back and give alms after bathing, and then go to bathe, but you, the king, brought me here. I am unhappy because I thought I had lied. It is not that I am attached to my body and life, but because you, the king, have compassion for me, please grant me seven days, and after I give alms to that Brahmin, I will come back to die," she prayed.
