Where is there anything permanent? Birth, old age, sickness, and death, the limits of samsara cannot be exhausted. If desires are not fulfilled for a time, one will be harmed by sorrow. The faults of desire are very great, and the faults do not come from elsewhere. In the three realms filled with suffering, what land or power is worthy of trust? What exists is originally non-existent, arising from causes and conditions. If there is prosperity, there is decline. Truth will surely turn into falsehood. Individual beings will eventually perish, and all exist in illusion. Just as the three realms are empty, so too is the realm of the country. Consciousness is formless, dwelling among the four venomous snakes, clinging to what arises from ignorance as a place of happiness. There is no permanent self in form, and there is no permanent home in the mind. When body and mind are separated, what land or power is worth longing for? At that time, having heard Sutasoma speak these verses, he was delighted as he had thought in his mind. After installing the regent as king, he bid farewell to the ministers and departed as if embracing them. The ministers then said, 'O King, do not fear the Rakshasa. We think that to protect the king, if the king resides in a house made of iron, the Rakshasa, no matter how brave, will be helpless.' The king admonished the ministers and many people, 'All people must have a sense of shame in not lying. If one lies, even living is not pleasant. It is better to die as in the first embrace than to live by lying.' The king spoke of the various benefits of not lying and the many faults of lying. The ministers were also overwhelmed with sorrow and became speechless. Everyone saw the king off, and everyone wept and fainted. As Sutasoma set out on the road, the Rakshasa also thought, 'Sutasoma should be coming here at this time.' So he went to the top of the mountain to look, and he saw Sutasoma coming from afar to give up his life. Then, coming closer, he saw that (the king) was even more radiant than before, and the Rakshasa (thought) the king
