I am happy, it was you who first urged me to go to the Blessed One. Son Five Crests, after we go from here to the heaven of the Thirty-Three, the daughter of the Gandharva King Dumburu, named Excellent Light, whom you have long desired and wished for, I will give her to you as your wife. You, the lord of the Gandharvas, will also return to your father's throne. Then, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, said to the gods of the Thirty-Three: Friends, whatever worship I used to offer to Brahma, the lord of the world, at the three times, I will henceforth worship this Blessed One with the worship befitting Brahma. Why is that? Because this Blessed One is Brahma. He has become Brahma. He is peaceful. He has become peaceful. Then, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, and the other gods bowed their heads at the feet of the Blessed One, circumambulated the Blessed One three times, faced forward and retreated backward, and while paying homage to the Blessed One, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, from a place beyond sight, draped his upper garment over one shoulder, and with his palms joined together towards where the Blessed One was, and with his right knee on the ground. Blessed One, Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One, I prostrate to you! I prostrate to you! Having said this, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, disappeared there. Then, the monks asked the Buddha, the Blessed One: Blessed One, what deeds did the Lord of the Gods, Indra, do, that by the maturation of that deed, he became great in magical power and great in strength? And he pleased the Blessed One, and did not displease the Blessed One! Blessed One, what deeds did these eighty thousand gods do, that by the maturation of that deed, relying only on this Indra, they pleased the Blessed One, and did not displease the Blessed One! The Blessed One said: It is due to the power of aspiration. Where did these petitioners make their aspirations? He said: Monks, in the past...

In the past, in this very fortunate eon, when the life expectancy of beings was forty thousand years, the perfectly complete Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, the Sugata, Knower of the World, Tamer of Beings, the Unsurpassed, Teacher of Gods and Humans, the Buddha Bhagavan named "Khorwa Jik" (འཁོར་བ་འཇིག་, Destroyer of Samsara) appeared in the world. When he attained unsurpassed wisdom and went to the beautiful king's palace, for the sake of the perfectly complete Buddha Khorwa Jik, the beautiful king built five hundred temples and six thousand residences, and offered them to the perfectly complete Buddha Khorwa Jik and his Shravaka Sangha. In those temples, all necessities were provided, and with eighty thousand attendants, they diligently made offerings to the perfectly complete Buddha Khorwa Jik and his Shravaka Sangha. Then, when the perfectly complete Buddha Khorwa Jik had completed all the deeds of a Buddha and passed into the realm of Nirvana without remainder, the beautiful king made offerings to his relics, built a stupa for the relics, made it completely perfect in every way, and made great offerings to the stupa, and made the aspiration: 'Alas! By this root of virtue, wherever I may be born, if I am born as a god, may I become the famous great god, the lord of all the gods. If I am born as a human, may I become the famous great man, the ruler of the kingdom among men.' Then, when the king made the aspiration, the long-serving attendants saw it and asked, 'What aspiration did the god make?' Then he explained it to them in detail. As soon as they heard it, they also paid homage to the stupa and made the aspiration: 'Alas! By this root of virtue, may we be born in a wealthy, rich, and prosperous family wherever we may be born. Relying solely on this king, may we please such a teacher, and may we not displease him.'

Thus it was said. Monks, what do you think? That handsome king at that time was none other than this Indra, lord of the gods. He had made offerings to the fully enlightened Buddha Vipashyin and the monastic community of shravakas, and made aspirations. As a result of the maturation of that karma, sometimes he was born as a god, becoming a famous deity, becoming the ruler of the gods. Sometimes he was born as a human, becoming a famous person, becoming the master of the kingdom of men. Monks, I am very similar to the fully enlightened Buddha Vipashyin, with the same power, the same deeds, and the same methods, so he pleased me and did not displease me. The eighty thousand attendants at that time were none other than these eighty thousand gods. They had made offerings to the fully enlightened Buddha Vipashyin and the monastic community of shravakas, and made aspirations. As a result of the maturation of that karma, wherever they were born, they were born into wealthy, rich, and prosperous families. Relying on this Indra, they pleased me and did not displease me. The story of the king is as follows: The Buddha was residing in Jeta's Grove in Shravasti. At that time, in Shravasti, there was a Brahmin who, due to circumstances, took a wife and played and rejoiced with her, being very happy. Later, his wife became pregnant, and after nine or ten months, she gave birth to a son. When this child grew up, he learned letters, the conduct of Brahmins, manners, and Om (藏文:ཨོཾ།,梵文天城体:ओम्,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:唵), Bho (藏文:བྷོ།,梵文天城体:भो,梵文罗马拟音:bho,汉语字面意思:勃), and so on. He learned cleanliness, rituals, taking ashes, holding pills, the explanation of the Vedas, the Vedas of sacrifice, the Vedas of poetry, the Vedas of politics, as well as the methods of performing sacrifices, having others perform sacrifices, giving, receiving, reciting, and teaching others to recite. He became a Brahmin skilled in six kinds of activities, and eventually became proficient in eighteen branches of knowledge. Then one day,
