It was endowed with wealth, prosperity, happiness, and good harvests, and many people lived there as if there were no taxes. Therefore, many people went there and settled down. After hearing this, the king under the sun became angry and mobilized the four divisions of his army to wage war against King Great Power. There lived one named Nada. It was heard that the king was the embodiment of loving-kindness, possessed compassion, was loving towards beings, delighted in giving, and gave away everything. Thinking, 'I should go to him. If I go to him, I will obtain wealth from him,' he went to Varanasi. Having gone there, he heard that the great and powerful king was dwelling in the forest. As soon as he heard that, the Brahmin became very distressed and thought, 'If I go to the place where he is in the hermitage, even though he is there, he might still give me wealth.' Thinking thus, he went to the place where the Bodhisattva was staying. Having gone there, the Bodhisattva pleased him with gentle words, gave him roots and fruits, and asked, 'Why have you come here?' The Brahmin said, 'Now there is a famine, and I have become poor and afflicted, and I have many to support, but I am unable to support them. I heard that the great and powerful king gives away everything, and I thought he would become a source of wealth for me, so I have come to you.' The Bodhisattva said, 'Didn't you hear that he is dwelling in the forest? Where does he have wealth now?' Having heard that, the Brahmin, being completely despondent, fainted and fell to the ground. Then, the Bodhisattva sprinkled water on his face and revived him. Then, he thought, 'Why do I need such a life? I should go and enter the dense forest and die.'
