Having conduct, having good conduct with speech, having good conduct with mind, not slandering the noble ones, having right view, having right action, because of correctly accepting the Dharma, with that cause and that condition, having separated from the body, after death, one will be born into the happy realm, among the gods of the heavenly world. Monks, since I know and see in this way, I do not say, 'I am that self,' or 'I am a sentient being,' or 'life,' or 'birth,' or 'nourishment,' or 'person,' or 'strength,' or 'one with strength,' or 'doer,' or 'agent,' or 'speaker,' or 'feeler,' or 'producer,' or 'universal producer.' Even if it is not born and has not arisen, and will not arise, one does not think that these aggregates will be abandoned and other aggregates will be taken. Except for the mere designation of Dharma. In that case, the designation of Dharma is as follows: When this exists, this arises; when this is born, this will be born. For example, due to ignorance as a condition, actions arise; due to actions as a condition, consciousness arises; due to consciousness as a condition, name and form arise; due to name and form as a condition, the six sense sources arise; due to the six sense sources as a condition, contact arises; due to contact as a condition, feeling arises; due to feeling as a condition, craving arises; due to craving as a condition, grasping arises; due to grasping as a condition, becoming arises; due to becoming as a condition, birth arises; due to birth as a condition, aging and death, sorrow, lamentation, suffering, displeasure, and confusion will arise. In that way, this great mass of suffering will arise. For example, when this does not exist, this does not arise; when this ceases, this ceases. For example, when ignorance ceases, actions cease; when actions cease, consciousness ceases; when consciousness ceases, name and form cease; when name and form cease, the six sense sources cease; when the six sense sources cease, contact ceases; when contact ceases, feeling ceases; when feeling ceases, craving ceases; when craving ceases, grasping ceases.

When grasping ceases, existence ceases. When existence ceases, birth ceases. When birth ceases, aging and death, sorrow, lamentation, suffering, discomfort, and turmoil cease. Thus, this great mass of suffering alone will cease. Monks, thus, when the cause arises, suffering will arise, and when the cause ceases, suffering will cease. Because the path is cut off, it will not be entered, and because the connection is broken, it will cease. The end of suffering is just that. Then, the Blessed One twice addressed King Bimbisara of Magadha, who was skilled in crafts and had a virtuous form: Great King, what do you think? Is form permanent or impermanent? He replied: Venerable one, it is impermanent. The Blessed One said: Whatever is impermanent, is it suffering or not suffering? He replied: Venerable one, it is suffering. The Blessed One said: Whatever is impermanent and suffering, and is subject to change, would a noble disciple who has heard much regard that as self, thinking, 'This is mine, this is me, this is my self'? He replied: Venerable one, no. The Blessed One said: Great King, what do you think? Are feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness permanent or impermanent?

One should observe with correct wisdom, just as it is, in accordance with reality. Great King, what do you think? Any feeling, perception, formation, or any kind of consciousness, whether past, future, or presently arising, internal or external, coarse or subtle, inferior or excellent, near or far, all of these are not mine, this is not me, this is not my self. One should observe with correct wisdom, just as it is, in accordance with reality. Having seen thus, the noble disciple who possesses learning becomes weary of form. He becomes weary of feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness. Being weary, he becomes unattached. Being unattached, he becomes liberated. Being liberated, the wisdom vision arises in him: 'I am liberated. My birth is exhausted, the ব্রহ্মচर्या (brahmacarya,梵文天城體,brahmacarya,净行) has been lived, what had to be done has been done, there is no other existence beyond this.' Such wisdom vision arises. When this discourse on the Dharma was being expounded, eighty thousand gods, including King Bimbisara of Magadha, and many thousands of Brahmins and householders of Magadha, gave rise to the stainless, immaculate eye of the Dharma regarding these teachings. Then, King Bimbisara of Magadha saw the Dharma, found the Dharma, understood the Dharma, reached the depths of the Dharma, transcended doubt, transcended uncertainty, not relying on others, not mixing with others, having attained fearlessness in the teachings of the Teacher, he rose from his seat, arranged his upper robe over one shoulder, and, with his palms joined together, bowed down towards where the Blessed One was, and said this to the Blessed One: 'Venerable sir, I am a noble one. I am a noble one. Venerable sir, I take refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha of monks. Please, Blessed One, regard me from this day forth, for as long as I live, as a lay follower who has faith from the depths of my heart.' Blessed One, please go to Rajagriha. I will provide offerings to the Blessed One and the Sangha of monks. For as long as I live, Blessed One, you
