ད་པ་བསྒྲུབས་ཏེ། ཕྱིར་འཛམ་བུའི་གླིང་ལོགས་སུ་ཆས་པ་ལས། དེ་དག་རླུང་མི་བཟོད་པ་བྱུང་ནས། དེས་གྲུ་བོ་ཆེ་དེ་རིའི་གཅོང་རོང་ཞིག་ཏུ་བཙངས་སོ། །དེ་ནས་རྒྱ་མཚོའི་དུས་རླབས་ཕྱིར་ལོག་པ་དང་། ཚོང་པ་དེ་དག་འཇིགས་ཤིང་སྐྲག་སྟེ། བདག་ཅག་ནི་ཤི་ཟིན་ནོ། །བདག་ཅག་གི་སྲོག་ནི་མེད་ཟིན་ནོ། །ད་བདག་ཅག་ལ་དགའ་བ་བྱེད་པ་དང་། སྲོག་ཕངས་པ་སྦྱིན་པ་སུ་ཡོད་ཅེས་འཛེར་ཏོ། །དེ་ནས་དེད་དཔོན་གྱིས་སྨྲས་པ། མ་འཇིགས་ཤིག་མ་འཇིགས་ཤིག །སངས་རྒྱས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ལ་སྐྱབས་སུ་དེང་ཤིག་དང་། དེས་བདག་ཅག་ཕོངས་པ་དང་། དཀོས་ཐག་པ་དང་གནོད་པ་དང་ཕྲད་པ་ལས་སྐྱབས་མཛད་པར་འགྱུར་རོ་ཞེས་བྱས་སོ། །དེ་ནས་དེ་ཐོས་མ་ཐག་ཏུ་ཚོང་པ་དེ་རྣམས་སངས་རྒྱས་ལ་སྐྱབས་སུ་སོང་སྟེ། བཙུན་པ་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་ནི་འདི་ལྟ་སྟེ། འདས་པ་དང་། མ་འོངས་པ་དང་ད་ལྟར་བྱུང་བ་ཅི་ཡང་མི་གཟིགས་པ་དང་། མི་མཁྱེན་པ་དང་། ཐུགས་སུ་མ་ཆུད་པ་མ་མཆིས་ན། ཀྱེ་མ་བཙུན་པ་བདག་ཅག་ཕོངས་ཤིང་དཀོས་ཐག་ལ་གནོད་པ་དང་ཕྲད་པ་རྣམས་ལ་སྐྱབས་མཛད་དུ་གསོལ། སྲོག་ཕངས་པ་སྩལ་དུ་གསོལ་ཞེས་བྱས་སོ། །དེ་ནས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་ཅི་ནས་ གྲུ་དེ་རང་ཉིད་རིའི་གཅོང་རོང་དེ་ནས་ཕྱིར་ལོག་སྟེ། རྒྱ་མཚོའི་འགྲམ་དུ་འབྱུང་བར་འགྱུར་བ་དེ་ལྟ་བུར་བྱིན་གྱིས་བརླབས་སོ། །དེ་ནས་དེ་དག་རྒྱ་མཚོ་ཆེན་པོའི་འགྲམ་དུ་བྱུང་ནས། མཐར་གྱིས་མཉན་དུ་ཡོད་པར་སོང་སྟེ། མཉན་དུ་ཡོད་པར་རྫས་རྣམས་བཞག་ནས། བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ག་ལ་བ་དེར་སོང་སྟེ་ཕྱིན་ནས། བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱི་ཞབས་ལ་མགོ་བོས་ཕྱག་འཚལ་ཏེ། བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱི་ཞབས་ལ་འོ་བྱས་ནས། འདི་སྐད་ཅེས་གསོལ་ཏོ། །བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ནི་བདག་ཅག་ལ་དཀའ་བ་མཛད་མཛད་པ་ལགས། སྲོག་ཕངས་པ་སྩོལ་བ་ལགས་སོ་ཞེས་གསོལ་ནས། ཆོས་མཉན་པའི་ཕྱིར་སྤྱན་སྔར་འཁོད་དོ། །དེ་ནས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་དེ་རྣམས་ཀྱི་བསམ་པ་དང་། བག་ལ་ཉལ་དང་། ཁམས་དང་། ཤེས་པ་དང་། རང་བཞིན་ཐུགས་སུ་ཆུད་ནས། དེ་དང་འཐུན་པའི་ཆོས་བསྟན་ཏེ། དེ་ནས་དེད་དཔོན་ལ་སོགས་པ་ཚོང་པ་ལྔ་བརྒྱ་པོ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་སྟན་དེ་ཉིད་ལ་འཁོད་བཞིན་དུ། འཇིག་ཚོགས་ལ་ལྟ་བའི་རིའི་རྩེ་མོ་མཐོན་པོ་ཉི་ཤུ་ཡེ་ཤེས་རྡོ་རྗེས་བཅོམ་ནས། རྒྱུན་དུ་ཞུགས་པའི་འབྲས་བུ་མངོན་སུམ་དུ་བྱས་ཏེ། དེ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་བདེན་པ་མཐོང་ནས། གསོལ་པ། བཙུན་པ་བདག་ཅག་ལེགས་པར་གསུངས་པའི་ཆོས་འདུལ་བ་ལ་རབ་ཏུ་འབྱུང་བ་དང་། བསྙེན་པར་རྫོགས་ཤིང་དགེ་སློང་གི་དངོས་པོ་འཐོབ་ཏུ་རུང་ན། བདག་ཅག་ཀྱང་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱི་ཐད་དུ་ཚངས་པར་སྤྱོད་པ་སྤྱད་པར་འཚལ་ལོ། །དེ་ནས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་དེ་དག་ལ་དགེ་སློང་ཚུར་ཤོག་ཅེས་བྱ་བའི་ཚིག་གིས་རབ་ཏུ་ཕྱུང་སྟེ། བསྙེན་པར་རྫོགས་པར་མཛད་ནས། དེ་དག་ལ་ལུང་ཡང་ཕོག་ནས། དེ་དག་གིས་ཀྱང་བརྩོན་པ་དང་། བསྒྲུབ་པ་དང་། འབད་པས་ཉོན་མོངས་པ་ཐམས་ཅད་སྤངས་ནས། དགྲ་བཅོམ་པ་ཉིད་མངོན་སུམ་དུ་བྱས་ཏེ། དེ་དག་དགྲ་བཅོམ་པ་ཁམས་གསུམ་པའི་འདོད་ཆགས་དང་བྲལ་བར་གྱུར་ནས། གསེར་དང་བོང་བར་མཉམ་པ། ནམ་མཁའ་དང་ལག་མཐིལ་དུ་འདྲ་བའི་སེམས་དང་ལྡན་པ། ཙན་དན་སྤངས་པ་ལྟ་བུར་བསིལ་བར་གྱུར་པ། རིག་པས་སྒོ་ངའི་སྦུབས་བཅོམ་པ། རིག་པ་དང་ མངོན་པར་ཤེས་པ་དང་། སོ་སོ་ཡང་དག་པར་རིག་པ་ཐོབ་པ། སྲིད་པའི་རྙེད་པ་དང་། ཆགས་པ་དང་། བཀུར་སྟི་ལ་མི་ལྟ་བ་དབང་པོ་དང་ཉེ་དབང་དང་བཅས་པའི་ལྷ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་མཆོད་ཅིང་རྗེད་པ་དང་། གུས་པར་སྨྲ་བའི་གནས་སུ་གྱུར་ཏོ། །དེ་ནས་དགེ་སློང་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་སངས་རྒྱས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ལ་གསོལ་པ། བཙུན་པ་ཚོང་པ་ལྔ་བརྒྱ་པོ་འདི་རྣམས་དེད་དཔོན་འདི་ལ་བརྟེན་ཏེ། བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་འཇིགས་པ་ཆེན་པོ་ལས་བསྐྱབས་ནས། གཡུང་དྲུང་གི་མཐར་ཐུག་པ་གྲུབ་པ་དང་། བདེ་བའི་མྱ་ངན་ལས་འདས་པ་ལ་བཀོད་པ་ལ་གཟིགས། བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་བཀའ་སྩལ་པ། ད་ལྟར་འབའ་ཞིག་མ་ཡིན་ཏེ། འདས་པའི་དུས་ན་ཡང་ཚོང་པ་ལྔ་བརྒྱ་པོ་འདི་རྣམས་ཀྱིས། དེད་དཔོན་འདི་ལ་བརྟེན་ཏེ། ངས་འཇིགས་པ་ཆེན་པོ་ལས་བསྐྱབས་ནས། བསམ་གཏན་བཞི་དང་། མངོན་པར་ཤེས་པ་ལྔ་ལ་ཅི་ལྟར་བཀོད་པ་དེ་ཉོན་ཅིག །དགེ་སློང་དག་སྔོན་བྱུང་བ་འདས་པའི་དུས་ན། གྲོང་ཁྱེར་བཱ་ར་ཎ་སཱི་ན་དཀའ་ཐུབ་ཀྱི་གནས་ཞིག་ན། དྲང་སྲོང་མངོན་པར་ཤེས་པ་ལྔ་དང་ལྡན་པ། རྫུ་འཕྲུལ་ཆེ་ཞིང་མཐུ་ཆེ་བ་ཞིག་གནས་ཏེ། དེ་ཡང་བཱ་ར་ཎ་སཱི་ན་གནས་པའི་སྐྱེ་བོ་མང་པོས་བཀུར་སྟིར་བྱ་བ་དང་། བླ་མར་བྱ་བ་དང་། རི་མོར་བྱ་བ་དང་། མཆོད་པར་བྱ་བ་ཞིག་གོ །དེ་ནས་ཕྱི་ཞིག་ན་བཱ་ར་ཎ་སཱི་ན་ཚོང་པ་ལྔ་བརྒྱ་ཙམ་གྱིས། དྲང་སྲོང་དེ་ལ་བསྙེན་བཀུར་བྱས་ནས། རྒྱ་མཚོ་ཆེན་པོའི་ནང་དུ་སོང་སྟེ། དེ་དག་གི་རིན་པོ་ཆེའི་གླིང་བགྲོད་པ་བསྒྲུབས་ནས། ཕྱིར་འཛམ་བུའི་གླིང་ལོགས་སུ་ཆས་པ་ལས། དེ་དག་གི་གྲུ་བོ་ཆེ་རྒྱ་མཚོའི་དུས་རླབས་ཀྱིས་ཐང་ལ་འཕངས་ནས། དེ་དག་དེར་འཇིགས་ཤིང་སྐྲག་པར་གྱུར་ཏེ། བདག་ཅག་འཚོ་བའི་དུས་སྐབས་མེད་དོ་སྙམ་ནས། དེ་དག

Having done that, they set out to return to Jambudvipa, but they encountered an unbearable storm, which drove the great ship into a mountain ravine. Then, as the sea tide receded, the merchants were terrified and cried out: We are dead! Our lives are over! Now who will bring us joy and give us life? Then the captain said: Do not be afraid, do not be afraid! Take refuge in the Buddha Bhagavan, and he will save us from poverty, distress, disaster, and encounters. Having heard this, the merchants immediately took refuge in the Buddha, saying: Venerable Bhagavan, you see all, whether past, future, or present, you know all, you understand all. O Venerable One, please save us who are impoverished, distressed, and encountering disaster, please grant us life! Then, the Bhagavan blessed the ship so that it would return from the mountain ravine and appear on the seashore. After that, they came to the great sea shore, and eventually went to Shravasti. Having unloaded the goods in Shravasti, they went to where the Bhagavan was, prostrated with their heads at the feet of the Bhagavan, kissed the feet of the Bhagavan, and said: Bhagavan, you have done us great kindness, you have granted us life! Having said this, they sat before the Buddha in order to hear the Dharma. Then, the Bhagavan understood their thoughts, habits, faculties, knowledge, and nature, and taught them the Dharma accordingly. After that, the captain and the five hundred merchants, while sitting on their seats, destroyed the twenty high peaks of the mountain of the view of the aggregates with the vajra of wisdom, and realized the fruit of stream-entry. They saw the truth and requested: Venerable One, we wish to go forth and be fully ordained in the Dharma and Vinaya well-spoken by you, and become monks.

If we can obtain the actual lotus root, we too shall practice celibacy in the presence of the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One ordained them with the words, "Come, monks," and bestowed upon them the full ordination. He also gave them predictions. They too, through diligence, practice, and effort, abandoned all defilements and directly realized the state of Arhatship. These Arhats, having become free from the desires of the three realms, regarding gold and rubble as equal, possessing a mind as undifferentiated as the sky and the palm of the hand, having become cool like abandoning sandalwood, having shattered the eggshell with wisdom, having attained wisdom and supernormal powers, and individual perfect knowledge, not craving worldly gain, attachment, and respect, became a place where even the gods with power and attendants worshiped, remembered, and praised with reverence. Then, the monks requested the Buddha, the Blessed One: Venerable One, behold how these five hundred merchants, relying on this leader, have been rescued by the Blessed One from great fear and placed in ultimate auspiciousness and the bliss of Nirvana. The Blessed One declared: Not only now, but also in the past, these five hundred merchants relied on this leader, and I rescued them from great fear. Listen to how I placed them in the four dhyanas and five supernormal powers. Monks, in the past, in a hermitage in the city of Varanasi, there lived a hermit endowed with five supernormal powers, possessing great magical power and great strength. He was also revered, regarded as a guru, depicted in paintings, and offered to by many people living in Varanasi. Later, one day, about five hundred merchants from Varanasi, after making offerings to that hermit, went into the great ocean.
