gave it to him. He took him to his own house and whipped him severely. He scattered poisonous powder into the whip wounds, and his body became like a black piece of meat. His brothers redeemed him with a lot of wealth, and his body was healed by the doctor's treatment. Then one day, he felt weary and thought, "Is it enough for me to stay at home? I will go to the forest of asceticism." So, he made offerings to the benefactor, the field of offerings, and merit, and then settled in the forest of asceticism. He went there and, without a teacher or instructions, remembered the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment and directly realized the enlightenment of a Pratyekabuddha. Then he thought, "That householder has created great non-merit from my being, I will go and benefit that householder." So, he rose from that place in the sky and went to where that householder was, and displayed the miracles of burning, shining, raining, and lightning. Ordinary people are easily convinced by miracles, and he prostrated at his feet as if a tree had been cut down by a saw, saying, "Greatly fortunate one, please descend. I am drowning in the swamp of misdeeds, please extend your hand and save me." Then, because he had only compassion for him, he descended to the ground, and he prostrated at his feet, asked for forgiveness, and said, "Noble one, you also want alms, and I also want to accumulate merit, please stay in my garden, and I will serve you with all necessities." Then, the Pratyekabuddha did not say anything to the householder, indicating his permission. After that, the householder built a hut of branches and leaves for the Pratyekabuddha and began to serve him with all necessities. Then one day, the Pratyekabuddha thought, "Whatever I had to do with this festering body, I have already done, now I will enter the realm of peace." So, he displayed the miracles of burning, shining, raining, and lightning, and entered the realm of nirvana without residue, completely passing into nirvana. After that, the householder

Therefore, he made offerings to his remains, built a stupa for the remains, showed great respect to that stupa, and made a vow, saying: Alas! With this root of virtue, wherever I may be reborn, may I be reborn in a lineage that is wealthy, rich, and enjoys great abundance. May I please a teacher who is even more excellent than this, and may I not displease him. May I obtain such qualities as these. May the karma of harming this (relic) not come upon me. If the ripening of this karma inevitably comes upon me, then at the moment I renounce and generate the mind of enlightenment, may my inauspiciousness disappear and may auspiciousness arise. Monks, what do you think? The householder at that time was this very foolish one. Because he whipped the body of that householder with a whip and scattered poison powder on him, due to the ripening of that karma, wherever he was born, he became such a body. Therefore, he again showed respect to that Pratyekabuddha, and due to the ripening of the karma of making vows, wherever he was born, he was born into a lineage that was wealthy, rich, and enjoyed great abundance. Monks, I pleased such a person as I, who am more excellent than hundreds of thousands of millions of Pratyekabuddhas, and did not displease me, and at the moment I renounced and generated the mind of enlightenment, his inauspiciousness disappeared and auspiciousness arose, and having renounced in my own doctrine, he abandoned all defilements and directly realized the state of an Arhat. Furthermore, in the doctrine of the perfectly complete Buddha of Light, this person renounced, and there he practiced pure conduct for one lifetime, and having fully matured the faculties, he is now liberated. In the story called "Three Brahmins," the first Brahmin is: The story takes place when the Blessed One was residing in Shravasti. At that time, a Brahmin in Shravasti began to perform a sacrifice. When he was performing the sacrifice, Brahmins from different countries gathered together, and they thought, the sacrifice

I thought that any sacrifice in which there is fighting, fault-finding, contention, and arguing would not be successful. Then, at a sacrifice later, the Brahmins living in the border area and the Brahmins living in the central area gathered for offerings, and a fight broke out. The Brahmins living in the central area said, "You seek a living by farming, so these offerings are not suitable for you. We are the place of offerings, so these offerings are suitable for us." Those living in the border area said, "You also rely on the king's warriors, so you are not the place of offerings, but we are the place of offerings, so we are entitled to the offerings." They were there fighting, finding fault, contending, and arguing, making a great commotion. At that time, another Brahmin took a lot of gold, silver, food, and clothing from the place of sacrifice and ran away. Those Brahmins caught him, beat him severely with fists and feet, and threw him away. Then, fearing and terrified of dying from the beating, he entered the grove of Prince Jetasena. There he saw the Sangha of monks, including the Buddha, behaving properly, keeping silent, and sitting without making noise. As soon as he saw them, he became delighted with the Blessed One's teachings. Being delighted, he thought, "It is enough for me to be a Brahmin, I should go forth into the Blessed One's teachings." Then he went to where the Blessed One was, and when he arrived, he bowed his head at the Blessed One's feet, draped his upper robe over one shoulder, and, facing the Blessed One, folded his palms together and said to the Blessed One, "Venerable One, if I may go forth in the well-spoken Dharma and Discipline, receive ordination, and obtain the status of a monk, I would also like to practice the holy life in the presence of the Blessed One." Then the Blessed One ordained him with the words, "Come, monk," and gave him full ordination, and also prophesied for him. He also persevered, practiced, and strived.
