La, after that, I thought I should prepare other food and drinks for my friends. Then, he invited the perfectly complete Buddha Kashyapa Buddha and his retinue to that very garden, satisfied them with many clean and good foods and drinks, offered them as they wished, and sat before them to listen to the Dharma. Then, the perfectly complete Buddha Kashyapa Buddha taught him the Dharma, made him understand it correctly, made him praise it, made him rejoice, and then rose from his seat and departed. Then, that boy began to prepare other food and drinks for his friends. Then, those friends arrived at that garden and heard, "All the food and drinks we prepared have been offered to the perfectly complete Buddha Kashyapa Buddha and his retinue." As soon as they heard this, most of them became very angry, and in their anger, they killed the boy. Then, the boy became frightened and scared, and went to speak to a hermit. He summoned his parents from there, and his parents began to try to calm the dispute, but they could not calm it. The boy pleaded with his parents and went forth into the teachings of the perfectly complete Buddha Kashyapa Buddha. After he went forth, he became proficient in the three pitakas and became a Dharma speaker with the confidence of liberation. He guided his parents to take refuge and established them in the precepts, and he made them give alms and distribute alms. Then, when those friends saw that he had gone forth, they felt regret and thought, "We have done something wrong." Then, they prostrated at his feet and asked for forgiveness. And from him, they also took refuge and the precepts. Then, one day, that monk became ill, and although he was cared for with medicines from roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits, he could not be healed. At the time of his death, he made the aspiration, "Alas, in this way, I have practiced celibacy for one lifetime in the teachings of the perfectly complete Buddha Kashyapa Buddha, but I have not

If I still haven't attained it, may I, through this root of virtue, be born wherever I am born, into a lineage that is rich, with much wealth, and great enjoyment. May I please the perfectly complete Buddha Kashyapa, the Buddha Kashyapa who prophesied to the Brahmin boy. May I not displease him. May I renounce in that very Buddha's teaching, abandon all defilements, and realize the state of Arhat. Having said this, his parents and friends also came before him, and having heard these words, they also made the aspiration: We also rely on you, may we also please the Buddha Kashyapa, may we not displease him. Bhikshus, what do you think? The third treasury at that time was this householder's son. The parents at that time are these two parents now. The friends at that time are these five hundred Niyutalas now. He practiced celibacy there for one lifetime, and at the time of death, due to the maturation of the karma of making aspirations, wherever he was born, he was born into a lineage that was rich, with much wealth, and great enjoyment. Bhikshus, I have attained the perfectly complete Buddha Kashyapa, completely equal to him, equal in power, equal in deeds, and equal in means. This person has pleased me, has not displeased me, and has renounced in my own teaching, abandoned all defilements, and realized the state of Arhat. At that time, his parents and friends also made aspirations, therefore, now also relying on this person, these people have pleased me, and have not displeased me. The Hundred Deeds, the thirty-second chapter, The Quarrel, the story takes place while residing in Shravasti. At that time, between the country of Kosala and the country of Magadha, there were two lions with great power and strength, and because those two were there, they were frightening many people.

It was destroyed. Because those two (lions) blocked the road, no one could pass that road. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, is the guide of the one and only path, mastering the two kinds of knowledge and wisdom, mastering the three unmixed close placements of mindfulness, fearless with the four fearlessnesses, liberated from the five realms of existence, mastering the six sense bases, with the seven branches of enlightenment as the sphere of activity, a meditator of the eight liberations, entering into the samadhi of the nine successive abidings, possessing the ten powers, roaring the great roar of the true lion. According to the Dharma, (the Buddha) observes the world with the Buddha's eye in three periods of the day and three periods of the night, that is, six times day and night: Who is declining? Who is prospering? Who is poor? Who is miserable? Who is encountering harm? Who is poor, miserable, and encountering harm? Who is inclined towards the lower realms? Who is falling into the lower realms? Who has already fallen into the lower realms? Who will I rescue from the lower realms and place in the heavenly realms, liberation, and fruition? Who will I pull up from the mire of sinking into evil deeds? Who will I make the master of the seven noble riches from not possessing the seven noble riches? Who will I cause to generate from not having generated roots of virtue? Who will I cause to fully mature from having already generated roots of virtue? Who will I pierce with the sword of wisdom from having matured roots of virtue? Who will have the fruit of the world adorned by the appearance of the Buddha? Thus, he acts by observing with wisdom. The ocean is the abode of aquatic creatures, and the waves of the seasons may cease, but for the beings to be tamed, the Buddha will not miss the opportunity. Then, the Bhagavan thought that the time had come to tame those two lions, and said to the Venerable Ananda: Ananda, go and tell the monks that the Bhagavan will travel to the country of Magadha, and whoever wants to travel with the Bhagavan should prepare their Dharma robes. After saying this, the Bhagavan stayed in the summer retreat, and after staying, many monks followed him.
