从男孩的岛屿一侧出发，他们遭遇了无法忍受的狂风，将那艘大船撞进了一处山谷的深处。之后，当海潮退去时，那些商人们惊恐万分，哀嚎道：我们死定了！我们的生命已经结束了！现在谁会给我们带来快乐，施舍救命之恩呢？这时，船长说道：不要害怕，不要害怕！现在就皈依佛陀薄伽梵吧，他会救我们脱离贫困、困境、灾难和遭遇的。听到这话，商人们立刻皈依了佛陀，说道：尊者薄伽梵，您无所不见过去、未来和现在发生的一切，无所不知，无所不晓。尊者啊，请救救我们这些贫困、困境和遭遇灾难的人吧！请赐予我们救命之恩吧！之后，薄伽梵加持道： 那艘船将会自己从山谷深处返回，出现在海边。之后，他们出现在大海边，最终到达舍卫城，在舍卫城卸下货物后，他们前往薄伽梵所在之处，到达后，他们用头顶礼薄伽梵的双足，亲吻薄伽梵的双足，并说道：薄伽梵您对我们恩重如山，赐予了我们救命之恩。说完，他们为了听法而坐在佛陀面前。之后，薄伽梵了解了他们的想法、习气、根性和智慧，并为他们宣说了相应的佛法。之后，包括船长在内的五百名商人，在坐在座位上的同时，用智慧金刚摧毁了二十座高耸的萨迦耶见山峰，亲证了入流果。他们见到了真谛，并祈求道：尊者，我们希望在您善说的法和律中出家，受具足戒，获得比丘的身份。

Having set out from the side of the boy's island, they encountered unbearable winds, which drove the great ship into the depths of a mountain valley. Then, as the sea tide receded, those merchants were terrified and cried out: We are dead! Our lives are over! Now who will bring us joy and bestow the gift of life? Then the captain said: Do not be afraid, do not be afraid! Take refuge in the Buddha Bhagavan now, and he will save us from poverty, distress, disaster, and encounters. Having heard this, the merchants immediately took refuge in the Buddha, saying: Venerable Bhagavan, you see everything that has happened in the past, future, and present, you know everything, and there is nothing you do not understand. Alas, Venerable One, please save us who are impoverished, in distress, and encountering disasters! Please grant us the gift of life! Then the Bhagavan blessed them, saying: That ship will return by itself from the depths of the mountain valley and appear on the seashore. Then, they appeared on the shore of the great ocean and eventually went to Shravasti. Having unloaded the goods in Shravasti, they went to where the Bhagavan was. Having arrived, they bowed their heads at the feet of the Bhagavan, kissed the feet of the Bhagavan, and said: Bhagavan, you have been very kind to us and have bestowed upon us the gift of life. Having said this, they sat before the Buddha to listen to the Dharma. Then, the Bhagavan understood their thoughts, habits, dispositions, and wisdom, and taught them the Dharma accordingly. Then, the five hundred merchants, including the captain, while sitting on the same seat, destroyed the twenty high peaks of the mountain of the view of the aggregates with the vajra of wisdom, and directly realized the fruit of stream-entry. They saw the truth and requested: Venerable One, we wish to go forth in the Dharma and Vinaya well-spoken by you, to receive full ordination, and to obtain the status of a Bhikshu.

我等亦于世尊处修梵行。尔时，世尊以“比丘来”之语令彼等出家，并令彼等受具足戒。又为彼等授记。彼等亦以精进、修持、努力，断除一切烦恼，现证阿罗汉果。彼等阿罗汉已离三界贪欲，视金与瓦砾平等，具虚空与手掌般之心，如舍弃旃檀般清凉，以智慧摧毁卵壳，获得智慧与 神通与各别正知，不顾有之利养、贪著、恭敬，为具权势与近侍之诸天所供养、忆念，成为恭敬赞叹之处。尔后，诸比丘祈请佛世尊：尊者，请观此等五百商人依仗此商主，世尊您从大怖畏中救护，安置于究竟寂静与安乐涅槃。世尊告曰：不仅现在如此，过去世亦是此等五百商人，依仗此商主，我从大怖畏中救护，如何安置于四禅与五神通，谛听。诸比丘，往昔过去之时，于波罗奈斯城有一苦行处，有一仙人具五神通，具大神通与威力，彼亦为住于波罗奈斯之众多人所恭敬、尊为上师、绘画、供养。其后某日，波罗奈斯之约五百商人，于彼仙人处承事供养后，入于大海之中，彼等成就取宝洲之行，复从赡部洲返回，彼等之巨船为海潮所推至岸上，彼等于彼处恐惧惊慌，心想我等已无生路，彼等向诸天祈祷。

I also wish to practice celibacy in the presence of the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One ordained them with the words "Come, monks," and conferred full ordination upon them. He also prophesied for them. They also, through diligence, practice, and effort, abandoned all defilements and directly realized the state of Arhat. Those Arhats, having become free from the desires of the three realms, regarded gold and rubble as equal, possessed a mind like the sky and the palm of the hand, became cool like abandoning sandalwood, shattered the eggshell with wisdom, attained wisdom and supernatural powers and individual perfect knowledge, disregarded the gains, attachments, and honors of existence, and were worshiped and remembered by the gods with power and attendants, becoming a place of reverence and praise. Then, the monks requested the Buddha, the Blessed One: Venerable One, please observe that these five hundred merchants, relying on this merchant leader, have been saved by the Blessed One from great fear and placed in ultimate peace and blissful Nirvana. The Blessed One said: Not only now, but also in the past, these five hundred merchants, relying on this merchant leader, were saved by me from great fear, and listen to how I placed them in the four meditations and five supernatural powers. Monks, in the past, in the city of Varanasi, there was a place of asceticism, where a hermit with five supernatural powers, great supernatural power and power, resided. He was also revered, respected as a teacher, painted, and worshiped by many people living in Varanasi. Then, one day, about five hundred merchants from Varanasi, after serving and making offerings to that hermit, went into the great ocean, accomplished the journey to the treasure island, and returned from Jambudvipa. Their large ship was pushed ashore by the ocean tide, and they were terrified and frightened there, thinking that they had no way to survive, and they prayed to the gods.

However, he will save us from poverty and scarcity, and from encountering harm, and will bestow the precious gift of life. Then, as soon as they heard these words, those five hundred merchants immediately took refuge in that very sage. Then, a deity who loved that sage summoned that sage, and that sage, through his miraculous powers, rescued those five hundred merchants from the great ocean and placed them in his own hermitage. Then, the merchants thought: That we are able to live, in any case, all of this is due to the power of this sage. So, they gave alms and accumulated merit, and all of them renounced and went forth to that sage. After they renounced there, they developed the four dhyanas and the five superknowledges. Monks, what do you think? At that time, the one who was the sage, abiding in the conduct of a bodhisattva, was myself. At that time, the one who was the captain, and those who were the merchants, were these very merchants. At that time, also, these people relied on this very captain, and I saved them from great terror and placed them in the four dhyanas and the five superknowledges. Now also, these people rely on this captain, and I have saved them from great terror and placed them in the ultimate accomplishment of eternity and the blissful nirvana. Furthermore, in the scriptures of the perfectly enlightened Buddha Light-Protecting, all these people renounced and went forth, and there, these people practiced celibacy for one lifetime, perfected their faculties, and therefore, now they have become completely liberated. The story called "Redemption" is as follows: The story takes place while residing in Shravasti. At that time, in Shravasti, there lived a householder who was rich and had much wealth, possessed great riches, was vast and extensive, equal to the wealth of Vaishravana (Tibetan: rNam thos kyi bu, Sanskrit: Vaiśravaṇa, Romanized Sanskrit: Vaiśravaṇa, Literal meaning: Son of All-Hearing), comparable to the wealth of Vaishravana, and he took a wife because the time was right, and together with her, he played and rejoiced, enjoying happiness.
