Thinking, "Does he have some kind of mental anguish?" But because of laziness, he couldn't say anything. The parents then took him to a doctor. The doctor said, "He has neither physical illness nor mental anguish. It's just that he can't get out of bed because of laziness." After that, the parents repeatedly advised him, saying, "Child, don't do this! You won't be able to find happiness by staying like this. People are able to make a living because they have the ability to work hard." Although they repeatedly advised him, they still couldn't get him to get up. Then one day, the parents thought, "If we invite meritorious people to offer alms, he might get up when he sees them." So, they invited six teachers and offered them food, but the child didn't get up even when he saw them. After that, the householder thought, "The Śramaṇa Gautama is known to be a very fortunate person, and his words are very powerful. If this child sees him, he might get up." So, The next day, they invited the Buddha and the monastic community of monks to their home. That night, they prepared many clean and delicious foods, and the next morning they got up early, set up the seats, and filled them with clean water. Then, they sent someone to urge the Blessed One to take the meal. The monk reported, "It's time for the meal, please take the meal!" The Blessed One knew that the time had come, and said, "Go!" After that, the Blessed One, in the morning, put on his robes and skirt, took his bowl, many monks followed behind him, the monastic community of monks cleared the way in front, and they went to the place where the householder lived, and sat down on the seats prepared for the monastic community of monks. After that, the child saw from afar that the Buddha, the Blessed One, was both beautiful and pleasing, his senses were peaceful, his mind was extremely subdued, he possessed complete peace, and he shone like a golden pillar. After seeing this, he stood up with effort out of respect, went to the place where the Blessed One was, bowed his head at the feet of the Blessed One, and together with his parents

Having learned that the Sangha of monks, including Shakya, were living in peace, he satisfied them with many clean and excellent foods and drinks from his own hands, and gave them whatever they desired. Then, after the Blessed One had finished his meal, and knowing that the bowl had been washed and the hands had been wiped, he took the lowest seat and sat before the Blessed One to listen to the Dharma. Then, the Blessed One praised the boy's diligence, saying, 'Child, through diligence, you will attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment.' Then, the boy thought, 'What the Blessed One said is good, but because I lack diligence, I cannot attain the excellence of the teacher. I should strive to go to sea for my mother, and I should honor the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha.' So, taking goods for going to sea, he entered the great ocean and strived to go to the island of jewels. When he had completed the task of sailing the great ocean, he came to Shravasti. He invited the Sangha of monks, including Shakya, for three months and provided all their needs. He served the Sangha of monks, including Shakya, with all their needs for three months. On the final day, he offered food with a hundred flavors to the Sangha of monks, including Shakya, and offered a robe worth a million to the Blessed One. He also offered each of the other monks a pair of cloths and made aspirations to attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. By this root of virtue, may I, in a blind world without a guide or teacher, become the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One, endowed with knowledge and conduct, the Gone to Bliss, Knower of the World, Tamer of Beings, Unsurpassed, Teacher of Gods and Humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One.' Then, the Blessed One said to the boy, 'Child, well done, well done! Child, in the future, in a blind world without a guide or teacher, you will become the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One, endowed with knowledge'

Endowed with virtues and feet, the Sugata, Knower of the World, Tamer of Beings, Charioteer, Supreme, Teacher of Gods and Humans, the Buddha, the Bhagavan, endowed with the power and effort of diligence, thus it is said. The story of Anathapindika is as follows: He was residing in Shravasti. At that time, in Shravasti, there lived a poor Brahmin who was impoverished in his livelihood. He had many to support and many servants. He thought, "Which wealthy person should I rely on to seek a livelihood?" Then he thought, "The householder Anathapindika is compassionate and generous. He will be able to provide for all my needs." Then, like a shadow, he followed him closely. Then, the householder Anathapindika saw him and asked, "Brahmin, what do you need from me?" The Brahmin said, "Householder, I need everything. I want to rely on you to seek a livelihood." As soon as he heard this, the householder Anathapindika immediately began to prepare all his necessities. Later, one day, he went with the householder Anathapindika to Prince Jeta's Grove. According to the custom of the householder Anathapindika, he would go to Prince Jeta's Grove every day with five hundred servants to clean. Later, one day, he had something to do, so he sent the Brahmin, saying, "Today, you go to Prince Jeta's Grove to clean." The householder left. The Brahmin also began to clean Prince Jeta's Grove. Then, the Bhagavan thought, "This Brahmin will generate a mind that will not regress from the Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment." The Bhagavan thought, "No matter how much he cleans, I will bless it so that the traces of what he has cleaned will not be visible." He was distracted by this, and the sun had already set. Then he thought, "Now I cannot go back to Shravasti." So he made his bed in Prince Jeta's Grove itself.
