The Bhagavan replied: Monks, in the past, in a bygone era, in this very fortunate aeon, when the life expectancy of beings was forty thousand years, there appeared in the world a Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, complete in knowledge and conduct, Sugata, knower of the world, unsurpassed charioteer who tames beings, teacher of gods and humans, a Buddha Bhagavan named 'Korwa Jik (འཁོར་བ་འཇིག་)'. When he had completed all the deeds of a Buddha and had completely passed into the realm of Nirvana without remainder, King Meden made offerings to his relics, built a stupa for the relics, made great offerings to that stupa, and established the custom of the stupa festival. Then, after some time, his parents both died, and King Embodied Heart appointed him as the elephant officer, giving him the same job as his father. Then, he took a wife through suitable means, and he played and rejoiced and lived happily with her. Then, after some time, he gained faith in the teachings of the Blessed One, and took refuge and took the precepts, and he gave alms and made merit, and he became ordained in the teachings of the Blessed One. After he was ordained, he studied the three pitakas, and became a Dharma speaker with wisdom and the fearlessness of liberation. Then, after some time, he thought, "Whatever I have done through hearing is finished, now I should strive for mindfulness," and after thinking this, he took up mindfulness, and practiced without sleeping day and night, and developed meditation up to the realm of neither perception nor non-perception, and he gathered five hundred disciples, and became endowed with a retinue. Then, after some time, he and his retinue traveled around, and he gradually returned from the place of travel, and the ministers reported to King Embodied Heart, saying, "He has become ordained, the black elephant officer has become ordained, and he has no son, and because he has no son, all his possessions belong to the deity."
