Then, the monks requested the Buddha Bhagavan, saying: "Venerable One, behold, the Brahmin Body Excellent and the Brahmin Youth Superior, who were killed by those Brahmins, and because of that, they became disgusted, renounced, abandoned all defilements, and manifestly attained the state of Arhat." The Bhagavan said: "Not only now, but also in the past, these two were killed by these Brahmins, and because of that, they became disgusted, renounced, and practiced pure conduct for one lifetime. Listen to that. Monks, in the past, in this very auspicious kalpa, when the lifespan of beings was twenty thousand years, the perfectly complete Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, the Sugata, the Knower of the World, the Guide of beings to be tamed, the unsurpassed, the teacher of gods and humans, the Buddha Bhagavan named Light Protector appeared in the world. At that time, a Brahmin began to perform a sacrifice. While performing the sacrifice, another Brahmin argued with him, and that person became angry and struck the Brahmin with a weapon, and that Brahmin was also struck by the weapon and died. Because of that, all the Brahmins became angry and said: 'From now on, we will not let you enjoy offerings.' And considering him a non-Brahmin, they began to curse and kill him. Then, those two Brahmin brothers, frightened by those Brahmins, fled. The two of them went to the place where sages speak, and renounced in the presence of the perfectly complete Buddha Light Protector. Then, the two of them practiced pure conduct there for one lifetime, but did not attain any accumulation of merit, so the two of them made a prayer at the time of death: 'Like this, we two renounced in the presence of the perfectly complete Buddha Light Protector, and practiced pure conduct for one lifetime, but did not attain any accumulation of merit, may we please the Brahmin youth (referring to Shakyamuni Buddha) who was prophesied by the perfectly complete Buddha Light Protector, and may we not displease him. May we renounce only in that Buddha's teachings, abandon all defilements, and become Arhats.'

Thus it was done. Monks, what do you think? The two Brahmins who went forth at the time of the Fully Awakened Buddha Kashyapa, these two brothers, Brahmin Luspak and Lhakpak, are these two brothers alone. At that time, these two were killed by the Brahmins, and fearing death, they were frightened and went forth. They practiced celibacy for one lifetime. Now, these two are also killed by the Brahmins, and fearing death, they are frightened. Having gone forth, they have abandoned all defilements and realized the state of Arhat. These two went forth there, and after practicing celibacy for one lifetime, they made a prayer at the time of death, saying: 'May the Buddha, the Bhagavan, who is the Brahmin boy prophesied by the Fully Awakened Buddha Kashyapa, please us, and may he not displease us. May we go forth only in his teachings, abandon all defilements, and realize the state of Arhat.' Therefore, monks, I am the Fully Awakened Buddha Kashyapa, and I am very similar, have the same power, the same deeds, and the same methods. Having attained this, these two have pleased me and have not displeased me, and having gone forth only in my own teachings, they have abandoned all defilements and realized the state of Arhat. The Hundred Deeds. Volume Twenty-Two. The chapter called "Teacher": The basis of the story is that he was staying in Shravasti. At that time, a householder lived in Shravasti. He took a wife because of circumstances, and he played and rejoiced with her, enjoying happiness. Later, his wife became pregnant, and after nine or ten months, she gave birth to a boy who was handsome, beautiful, and pleasing to look at. Later, this householder had two, three, and then seven sons one after another, and he held grand birth celebrations for them. He gave them names according to their lineage, and raised them with milk, yogurt, butter, ghee, and the essence of butter. When they grew up, they learned letters, arithmetic, and storytelling.
