The sixth verse of the summary. The sixth verse of the summary. The summary is: Two birds and the body of the eminent one, the teacher Light Protector and the Joyful One, the holding child and the most virtuous one, the order of offerings and the two elders. Regarding the two birds, the first bird is: The story begins when he was residing in Rajagriha. At that time, the Blessed One was residing in Rajagriha, on Vulture Peak Mountain. There, the Blessed One was residing with hundreds of thousands of attendants, and while teaching the Dharma, the fragrance of sandalwood arose. A peacock named 'Beautiful to Behold' came and hovered in the sky above the grove of Prince Jeta. That bird heard the Blessed One residing with hundreds of thousands of attendants and teaching the Dharma. Having heard this, it landed on the ground and sat at the feet of the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One taught it three verses of Dharma: All conditioned things are impermanent. All dharmas are without self. Nirvana is peace. Make your mind happy towards me, and it is possible that you may be separated from the animal realm. Having spoken thus, that bird became happy and gazed at the face of the Blessed One for a long time before leaving. Afterwards, while it was going in the sky above, it was killed by a hawk. It died with a happy mind towards the Blessed One, and having passed away, it was reborn, having transcended time, in the same city of Rajagriha, in the house of a merchant. After nine or ten months, a son was born, and a boy was born. They held a grand birth celebration. They gave him a name according to his lineage. They raised and nurtured him with milk, yogurt, butter, ghee, and the essence of ghee. When he grew up, he was taught writing, arithmetic, storytelling, manual calculation, subtraction, hiding, scattering, examining clothes, examining jewels, examining precious stones, examining incense, examining medicine, examining elephants, examining horses, and examining weapons. He became skilled in writing, skilled in reading, intelligent, clear in his actions, broad-minded, and proficient in the eight kinds of examination. Then, one day, he became fond of the Buddha, fond of the Dharma, and fond of the Sangha, and he asked his parents,

He went forth into the doctrine of the Bhagavan. Having gone forth, when he was only seven years old in age, he abandoned all defilements. Having directly realized the state of an Arhat, he became great in magical power and great in strength. Then, he went by means of magical power, going to various places, and having put flowers and fruits inside leaves, he would bring them and offer them to the Sangha. Then, the monks, having seen that, were amazed. Those ones requested the Bhagavan, saying: Venerable one, look at this novice who has gone forth from the age of seven. Having abandoned all defilements, he has directly realized the state of an Arhat. Then, the Bhagavan, in order to cause those ones to feel weary, spoke, saying: At such and such a time, did you see a bird descend from the sky and sit in front of me? They replied, saying: Venerable Bhagavan, we saw it. He spoke, saying: Monks, that bird, having become happy in mind towards me, went away and was killed by a hawk. Having died and transmigrated with a happy mind towards me, it was born in this very Rajagriha, into the lineage of a merchant. Having grown up, he went forth into my doctrine. Having gone forth, when he was only seven years old in age, he abandoned all defilements and directly realized the state of an Arhat. Then, the monks asked the Buddha Bhagavan: Venerable one, what actions did this novice do, that by the ripening of that action, he was born as a bird? What actions did he do that, having died from that, he was born as a human? And also, he pleased the Bhagavan and did not displease him. Having gone forth into the doctrine of the Bhagavan, he abandoned all defilements and directly realized the state of an Arhat. The Bhagavan spoke, saying: Monks, in the past, in a bygone time, in the city of Varanasi in the land of Kashi, King Brahma-datta ruled the kingdom. In the land of Videha, King Videha ruled the kingdom. Those two were not in harmony with each other, causing many ordinary people to be disturbed. Then, later, the king of Videha, having equipped the fourfold army, advanced towards the territory of King Brahma-datta in order to wage war.
