He was taken to the monastery. After taking him there, he was ordained and given the full ordination of a monk, and he was also given instructions. He also abandoned all defilements through diligence, practice, and effort, and directly realized the state of an Arhat. That Arhat, having become free from desire for the three realms, treating gold and dung equally, possessing a mind like the sky and the palm of the hand, having become cool like sandalwood soaked in water, having shattered the shell of the egg with wisdom, having attained wisdom, supernormal powers, and individual perfect knowledge, not looking at the gains, attachments, and honors of existence, became an object of worship, reverence, and respectful praise by the gods, including the powerful and attendant gods. He relied on solitary places, forests, and remote dwellings, thinking, 'I do not want to meet anyone.' The monks asked the Buddha Bhagavan, 'Venerable one, what deed did this monk do that, through the maturation of that deed, he was born into a wealthy, rich, and prosperous family, and he also pleased the Bhagavan, did not displease the Bhagavan, and having renounced in the Bhagavan's teachings, abandoned all defilements, and directly realized the state of an Arhat? Seeing what fault has he abandoned bustle since childhood and become fond of being alone?' The Bhagavan said, 'Monks, this one naturally remembers past lives, and while wandering in samsara, he also experienced great suffering due to the fault of bustle. Because he remembers that suffering, he is fond of dwelling alone.' 'Venerable one, where did he create the fault of bustle?' The Bhagavan said, 'Monks, in the past, in a bygone era, in this very fortunate eon, when the lifespan of beings was twenty thousand years, a fully enlightened Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, Sugata, Knower of the World, Tamer of Beings, Supreme, Teacher of Gods and Humans, Buddha Bhagavan, named Kashyapa, appeared in the world. Having renounced in his teachings, he became a talkative monk, becoming very bustling. Because of the fault of bustle,'

Morality Having become immoral. Being immoral, therefore, the property of the Sangha and the property of the stupas, as well as the long-term living expenses and the property of the Sangha of the four directions, could not be conserved, and were used as desired, and also given to others. Monks, what do you think? Who was the one who made offerings at that time? It was this monk alone. After he became a monk there, the property of the Sangha and the property of the stupas, as well as the long-term living expenses and the property of the Sangha of the four directions, could not be conserved, and were used as desired, and also given to others. Because he did unrighteous deeds to those virtuous ones, the ripening of that karma caused him to be born as a preta for five hundred lifetimes, experiencing great suffering. Because he remembered that suffering, he was happy to live alone. He guarded celibacy there for the duration of one lifetime, and because he brought his faculties to full maturity, now this one has pleased me and has not displeased me, and having become a monk in my own teaching, having abandoned all defilements, he has directly realized the state of an Arhat. Because he made offerings slightly according to the Dharma, the ripening of that karma caused him to be born into a wealthy, rich, and prosperous family. The Hundred Karmas. Volume Sixteen. The story called "Elephant": The basis of the story is that he was residing in Shravasti. Then, the Blessed One spent the summer retreat in Shravasti. After three months of summer, he made robes. After the robes were finished, he put on the robes, took his bowl, and set out from Shravasti to Rajagriha. Gradually, he arrived at a valley at the foot of a mountain. At that time, an elephant of a monastery was frightened by a lion and drove its herd. It climbed that mountain and protected its herd. The leader of the elephants who went to the mountain saw the Blessed One coming from afar. As soon as the Blessed One was seen, the elephant leader developed great joy towards the Blessed One. It came down from that mountain, took branches of the Nyagrodha tree, went to where the Blessed One was, prostrated to the Blessed One and circumambulated him, because the Blessed One's body was suffering from the sun's rays.
