The Blessed One said: The hungry ghost nun named Delightful is one who commits sinful deeds, and she has committed many sinful deeds. Delightful, in the distant past, in this very fortunate eon, when the life span of beings was twenty thousand years, the perfectly complete Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, the Gone to Bliss, Knower of the World, Guide of Beings to be Tamed, the Unsurpassed, Teacher of Gods and Humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One, named Light Protector, appeared in the world. At that time, in Varanasi, there lived a wealthy householder, rich in possessions and enjoying great prosperity, fully possessing vast and extensive wealth, possessing the wealth of Vaishravana, rivaling the wealth of Vaishravana. He took a wife through opportune circumstances, and together with her, he played, rejoiced, and lived happily. Later, his wife became pregnant, and after nine or ten months, she gave birth to a daughter who was beautiful in appearance, pleasing to behold, and lovely. Being controlled by anger, she abused many learning and non-learning nuns with harsh and rude words. She also went from house to house saying that they were immoral and sinful, speaking ill of them, obstructing their gains and respect, and looking at them with hatred. Joyful one, what do you think? That nun at that time is now this hungry ghost woman. She was born as a hungry ghost due to the maturation of the karma of obstructing the gains and respect of the learning and non-learning nuns there. Due to the maturation of the karma of abusing those nuns with harsh and rude words, many worms emerged from her mouth and nose. Due to the maturation of the karma of speaking ill of them in every house, many yojanas were filled with stench. Due to the maturation of the karma of looking at the nuns with hatred, she became blind. Due to the maturation of the karma of freely using the property of the Sangha, the property of stupas, the permanent offerings, and the property of the Sangha from the four directions, she was eaten by blue dogs. The Blessed One, knowing that they had developed revulsion in their minds, taught the Dharma accordingly. Therefore, some there generated warmth. Some generated the peak and endurance in accordance with the truth, as well as the supreme mundane dharma and the samadhi of seeing. Some realized the fruit of stream-entry. Some realized the fruit of once-returning. Some realized
