Having renounced all defilements after becoming ordained in your teachings, he directly realized the state of an Arhat. The following is the story of giving away a bride: The speaker was residing in Kauśāmbī. At that time, there were two chief ministers of King Prabhāvatī, one named Mṛgadatta and the other named Dattā. These two were friendly, intimate, and devoted to each other. Through their combined efforts, they each took a wife, and they played and rejoiced with their wives, enjoying happiness. Then one day, the two of them gathered together and said: "Friend, we must ensure that this friendship does not diminish even slightly until the end of our lives." Then, Mṛgadatta said: "So what should we do?" Dattā said: "Let's become relatives through marriage." Mṛgadatta said: "Do you have a son or a daughter?" Dattā said: "No." Mṛgadatta said: "Well, I don't have a son or a daughter either, and you don't have a son or a daughter either, so how can we become relatives through marriage?" Dattā said: "There are two ways to become relatives: relatives who are already born and relatives who are not yet born. Although we two don't have a son or a daughter, we can become relatives through marriage in the future. If I have a son and you have a daughter, then give your daughter to my son. If your son is born and my daughter is born, then I will give my daughter to your son." That's what they decided. Then they said, "Let's do it that way," and then they left. Then one day, Mṛgadatta's wife became pregnant, and after nine or ten months, she gave birth to a son, and they named him Sāgara. Desires are like salt water, the more you indulge in them, the more they increase and grow. Later, he had seven sons in succession, and they held grand birth celebrations for them, naming them according to family tradition and raising them. Then one day, Dattā's wife also became pregnant, and after nine or ten months, she gave birth to a daughter who was beautiful, pleasing to look at, and lovely. That daughter was naturally

After that, the two parents were unable to prevent her by any means. Then one day, the great Prajapati Gautami went to that house and taught the Dharma to the householder, and that daughter also listened to the Dharma and sat silently. Then, when the great Prajapati Gautami taught the Dharma to that householder and went back, that daughter again entered into silence. The householder pondered, "This daughter must want to listen to the Dharma." Then they held a birth celebration for her and named this daughter, because this daughter was born desiring the Dharma, so they named this daughter Dharma-given. After that, the daughter Dharma-given was raised and nurtured with milk, yogurt, butter, ghee, and the essence of butter. When she grew up, she gained faith in the teachings of the Bhagavan, and she requested her two parents, offering food to the monks and nuns from time to time, and sitting in front of them to listen to the Dharma. Then, after hearing the Dharma, she took refuge and took the precepts. While living at home, she realized the fruit of non-returning and also accomplished miracles. After seeing the truth, she said to her two parents: "Father and mother, please allow me to go forth into the teachings of the Bhagavan." The two parents said: "Daughter, before you were born, we two had already given you to a family, so we two cannot allow you to go forth." The daughter said: "I am not seeking desires, what do I need a family for?" The two parents said: "We two cannot allow you to go forth, but relying on you, we two can invite the Sangha of monks, including the Buddha. You can also invite the people of Deer Park, and you yourself bid farewell to the family and go forth." After that, the householder invited the Sangha of monks, including the Buddha, and that night prepared many clean and beautiful foods, and the next morning got up early to prepare the seats and prepare water.

After placing (the offerings), (the messenger) went to the Blessed One to urge the meal time. The monk reported, "Blessed One, the meal time has arrived, please have your meal." The Blessed One thought that the time had come, and agreed to go. Then, the Blessed One put on his skirt and Dharma robes in the morning, carried his bowl, and was escorted by a gathering of monks, with the monastic community of monks clearing the way in front, and went to the Kadrava place of the householder Given. Having arrived, he sat on the prepared seat. Then, the householder Given, seeing that the Buddha and the monastic community of monks were seated comfortably, personally satisfied them with many clean and delicious foods, and offered them according to their needs. Then, the Blessed One finished his meal, and knowing that (they) had washed their hands, sat before the Buddha to listen to the Dharma. Then, unable to prevent his daughter Dharma Given from becoming a renunciate, he sent a message to the householder Hunter, saying, "Come here yourself and stop her." Then, as soon as Hunter heard the news, he immediately came with his servants and lingered outside the house of the householder Given. Then, the Blessed One taught, instructed, encouraged, and delighted the householder Given and his servants with the Dharma, and then rose from his seat and left. After the Buddha and the monastic community of monks left, the monastic community of nuns also followed. The daughter Dharma Given also went with them. The boy Saga and the Hunter, along with his servants, also saw the daughter Dharma Given coming out of that house. Seeing this, the boy Saga said he would seize the daughter Dharma Given, (Dharma Given) rose into the sky and displayed miracles such as burning, shining, raining, and lightning. Seeing these, the boy Saga thought, "She has attained such Dharma, how could she still enjoy desires with me?" Ordinary people are easily subdued by miracles, and seeing these, he immediately prostrated at her feet and said, "Great fortunate one, please come down, please come down. We are sinking in the mire of sinful deeds."
