At that time, the hermit said to that person, "Hey, you wasted the water, and doing such a thing to such a sentient being is not good." After saying that, the hermit said a verse to that person: Whether sitting or lying down, whether standing or walking, no matter what state you are in, you will not find comfort when bitten by mosquitoes. He was falling into a cliff, yet he spoke words of compassion. Therefore, may you, the evil one, be burned, burning like the grove of Khandava. Experiencing the suffering of non-pleasure, because you have done an extremely terrifying deed. Therefore, in the next world, you will experience illness. You will cry out in great fear, uttering laments and wails. At that time, you will experience all great suffering. What good has the sinful deed you have done done for you? Even sinful people with pure hearts sometimes harm mosquitoes. Your mind dwells in terrible sins that do not accord with the Dharma. What sins have you committed? Remember the bear and the lion. You evil one, you do not know how to treat mosquitoes. Killing will meet with killing, and hatred will meet with hatred. When encountering a great lion, you served it for a long time. You saved me from falling off a cliff, but you did not protect me. The Dharma speakers say that harming mosquitoes is the ultimate bondage. You rotten one, after death you will be reborn in the hells. The summary of these verses is: ཀྱི་(Ki,seed syllable, no meaning), འདུག་('dug, sitting), དེ་(de,that), བདེ་(bde, happiness), ཁྱོད་(khyod, you), སྡིག་(sdig, sin), ཆོས་(chos, dharma), བློ་(blo, mind), འཇིགས་('jigs, fear), བསེན་(bsen, mosquito). Then, that person heard the hermit's verse and felt remorse, and he became a renunciate in front of that very hermit. Monks, what do you think? The one who became a bear at that time, abiding in the conduct of a Bodhisattva, was myself. The one who became a man at that time was Devadatta. At that time, he still did not understand what he had done, was not grateful for what he had done, and what he had done would be in vain. The story of Little Hunchback is as follows: When the Buddha was staying in Shravasti, at that time there lived in Shravasti a poor Brahmin, whose life was impoverished and who lived by begging.

Once, his wife became pregnant. Ever since she entered the mother's womb, it became even more difficult for the Brahmin to beg for food. Then, when she was nine or ten months pregnant, she gave birth to a boy who was ugly, with a bad appearance, thin, hunched over, and crooked. They held a birth celebration to the best of their ability. When they were about to name the boy, they said, "This boy is small and hunched over, therefore, his name will be called 'Little Hunchback'." After that, they raised him with milk, yogurt, butter, ghee, and the essence of ghee. Later, due to the ripening of the previous karma of that being, the mother's breast milk dried up. After that, his mother nourished him with cow and buffalo milk, but that didn't work out well either. For a being in the last existence, dying in the intermediate state is without a fixed place or opportunity. Because sometimes they could get cow and buffalo milk, and sometimes they couldn't, he was barely sustained. When he grew up, his father said to him: "Son, we can only survive by begging. We have no fields to cultivate, nor any business to do, so go begging and live on the food you beg for." After that, he replied, "As you wish." Then the boy went out to beg. He wandered for a long time, but could only find a little bit of sustenance. Later, the boy developed faith in the teachings of the Blessed One, so he went to a monk and said, "Venerable one, if I am able to be ordained and take full ordination in the teachings of the Blessed One, and obtain the status of a monk, then I would also like to practice celibacy in the presence of the Blessed One." The monk asked, "Are your parents still alive?" He replied, "They are alive." The monk asked, "Have you asked your parents for permission?" He said, "I have not asked." The monk said, "Son, the Buddhas and the Shravakas of the Buddhas do not ordain anyone without the permission of their parents. Go and ask your parents for permission, and then come back, and then it will be easier for you." After that, the boy Little Hunchback, having heard the words of that monk, went to his parents and said, "Father and Mother, please allow me to be ordained in the teachings of the Blessed One." After that

The parents thought: "Now this child is also suffering extremely, and we two are also suffering. If only this much could become peaceful, then it would be good to renounce. However, will we also attain happiness in this life and the next?" Thinking this, they said: "Child, promise us that if you attain some special accomplishment, please also tell us." Then, (the child) replied, "As you command." The little hunchback, having been permitted by his parents, Prince Shengjun went to the garden and approached that monk, saying: "Venerable one, I have informed my parents, and my parents have also permitted me. Venerable one, if I can be well ordained and receive full ordination in the Dharma and Vinaya that you speak of, and attain the status of a monk, I also wish to practice brahmacharya in the presence of the Bhagavan." Those great beings are engaged in benefiting others, and that monk ordained him and gave him full ordination. Then, he fasted him with food for two or three days, saying: "Child, Ridaga (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning), Ridaga Miso (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning), go to alms round in the realm designated by your father, your own sphere of activity." Then, he listened to the abbot's words and sometimes went for alms, and sometimes ate food in the Sangha. If he ate food in the Sangha, when food was being distributed, due to the ripening of his previous karma, whatever food was distributed, as soon as the food reached him, the food and drink would be exhausted, or those people would encounter sudden calamities. Then, when those people came back, they would also pass him over and distribute food to the people below, so even though he was sitting there, some would get it and some would not. Then, the monks noticed and reported it to the Bhagavan. The Bhagavan said: "Monks, a rule should be established regarding the diligence that a monk sitting below should observe, that is, the monk sitting below should not take food and supplies until the monk sitting above has taken them. Or, if he has taken them by some means of transgression, he should not give up the effort until he gets it. If he cannot give alms, then from my food...
