As soon as they heard this, five hundred merchants gathered, and they loaded goods onto cows, bulls, and donkeys, and traveled through villages, towns, cities, villages in the forests, and prosperous regions, and arrived at the shore of the great ocean. They hired a boat for five hundred karshapanas, and also brought five kinds of livelihood providers: a food preparer, a mediator, a treasurer, a cleaner, and a stargazer. What is a food preparer? It is the one who prepares food and drink on board. What is a mediator? It is the one who pacifies all disputes that arise on board. What is a treasurer? It is the one who manages the wealth and goods. What is a cleaner? It is the one who cleans the water on board. What is a stargazer? It is the one who observes the stars. Then, those merchants saw the great ocean and became frightened, and did not want to enter the boat. Then, the captain said to the stargazer: 'Hey, man, proclaim the praises of the great ocean as they are!' Then, the stargazer proclaimed: 'Hey, merchants of Jambudvipa, listen! In this great ocean, there are such valuable jewels, such as: jewels, pearls, vaidurya, conch shells, precious stones, coral, silver, gold, the essence of stones, agate, padmaraga, right-spiraling conch shells, and so on.'

You should carefully examine and carefully select them! Don't regret it after you reach Jambudvipa! In this Treasure Island, there also live ogresses called Crane Chick Maidens. They will use various methods to seduce men, making them degenerate and suffer here. In this Treasure Island, there are also intoxicating fruits. Whoever eats those fruits will be in a coma for seven days. Don't eat those fruits! In this Treasure Island, there also live non-humans. They can tolerate others staying for seven days, but if it exceeds seven days, they will release winds that can blow away ships, preventing people from accomplishing anything.” After giving this warning, the merchants listened and cautiously remained vigilant. They carefully examined the treasures and filled the ship, just like filling it with sesame seeds, rice, Badara fruits, and Chinese beans. Then, they returned to Jambudvipa on a favorable wind. He completed six sea voyages in this way, arrived in Varanasi, and began to engage in giving and doing good deeds. At that time, five captains lived in five other cities. They went and returned, but their ships became inauspicious. They thought: “Through the power of one being known for great merit, many beings can attain happiness. And the great captain Wealth Joy is known for great merit. He has completed six sea voyages. If we can make him happy, we can gain wealth through his power.” Thinking this, they gathered together, went to Varanasi, and came before Captain Wealth Joy, saying, “Captain, we went and returned, but our treasure ships have become inauspicious.”
