May I have a beautiful form, be pleasing to look at, and also become beautiful! May I please that perfectly complete Buddha Kashyapa, that Buddha, the Blessed One, who was prophesied by the Brahmin boy! May I not displease him! May I be ordained in that very teaching, abandon all defilements, and realize the state of an Arhat! After saying this, the two nuns saw him and asked, 'Venerable one, what kind of aspiration did you make?' He also explained it to them in detail. After hearing that, the two of them also made an aspiration, 'May we two also, relying on you, venerable one, please that Buddha, the Blessed One! May we not displease him! May we be ordained in that very teaching, abandon all defilements, and realize the state of an Arhat! May we two not become recipients of the ripening result of the karma of speaking harsh words to many nuns!' Monks, what do you think? The one who became a monk at that time was this Lotus Color. The two who became nuns at that time were these two nuns themselves. That monk offered a meal to the Buddha and the seven virtuous monks there, and after honoring the stupas of hair and nails, by the ripening of the karma of making aspirations, he was born into a wealthy family with much wealth and great enjoyment. Monks, I have attained the same perfect and complete enlightenment as the Buddha Kashyapa, the same power, the same deeds, and the same methods. He pleased me and did not displease me, and having been ordained in my own teaching, he abandoned all defilements and realized the state of an Arhat. The two nuns made an aspiration there, 'May we two, relying on this one, please that Buddha, the Blessed One! May we not displease him! May we be ordained in that very teaching, abandon all defilements, and realize the state of an Arhat!'

Having done this, these two, relying on this, now make me happy and do not make me unhappy, and having renounced in my own teachings, having abandoned all defilements, they have realized the Arhatship. Those two, there, to many nuns, one said the word "lowborn", and one said the word "prostitute", the maturation of that karma is: one was born as a lowborn, and one became a prostitute. Venerable Lotus Color, what karma did he do, that the maturation of that karma caused him to be born into a wealthy, rich, and prosperous family, and to be of good appearance, pleasing, beautiful, and to become like the heart of a lotus? The Blessed One said: It is due to the power of aspiration. Where did the Venerable make the aspiration? Monks, in the past, in a solitary place, there was a guardian of a garden dwelling, that garden was abundant with flowers, abundant with fruits, abundant with cool shade, and abundant with ponds, and those ponds were also filled with Utpala flowers, lotuses, Kumuda flowers, and white lotuses, and there were swans, geese, and ruddy shelducks making sounds. When the Buddha Blessed One was not dwelling in the world, compassion for the poor and destitute, living in remote dwellings, like a rhinoceros horn, the sole object of offerings in the world would appear in the world, a solitary Buddha dwelt in that garden. Then, the guardian of the garden got up early the next morning and went to that garden, the guardian of the garden saw that solitary Buddha, like the Dragon King coiling his body, sitting in the lotus position as if he were asleep. Having seen him, he felt great joy. Having felt joy, he offered food to that solitary Buddha in that garden, and also offered clothes, and scattered Utpala flowers, lotuses, Kumuda flowers, and white lotuses, and made the aspiration: Alas, by this root of virtue, wherever I am born, may I be wealthy, rich, and enjoy

May I be born into a prosperous family! May I be of good form, pleasing to behold, and beautiful! May the color of my body be like the heart of a lotus! May I please the teacher who is superior to this! May I not displease him! May I also obtain such a collection of qualities! So it was done. Monks, what do you think? The guardian of the garden at that time was this Lotus Color. Because of the ripening of the karma of honoring and making offerings to that solitary Buddha and making aspirations, he was born into a wealthy, rich, and prosperous family, and became of good form, pleasing to behold, and beautiful, and the color of his body became like the heart of a lotus. Monks, I, such a teacher who is far superior to hundreds of millions of solitary Buddhas, pleased him and did not displease him. He went forth in my teaching, abandoned all defilements, and realized the state of an Arhat. The story of the butcher: The story takes place while residing in Shravasti. At that time, there lived a butcher in Shravasti who took a wife who came by chance. Later, his wife became pregnant, and after nine or ten months, she gave birth to a son. The boy was of good form, pleasing to behold, and beautiful, and his parents loved him dearly, cherishing and adoring him. Then, they held a grand celebration for his birth and gave him a name that suited the family. They raised him with milk, yogurt, butter, ghee, and the essence of ghee. When he grew up, his parents gave him good food and drink and did not let him do any work. Later, his father made him do his own work, and he said, "Father, I can take up the knife to kill myself, but I cannot take up the knife to kill living beings." The butcher's wife said, "Husband, please do not harm this child. Let us pay someone to do this work." Upon hearing these words, the butcher temporarily spared the child. Later, the boy gained faith in the teachings of the Blessed One, and at that time, the prince
