Thinking that they would unite and seize the throne to become king, he sent a message to Grags 'dzin ma (Famous Holder). Grags 'dzin ma (Famous Holder), look at what that one who now delights in sin has done. He has taken sixty thousand women as wives and made them suffer. If he doesn't want to fully enjoy desires, then what need is there to take and keep consorts? Now, if you are happy, we too will be able to obtain the kingship, and you too will be glorious and fortunate as before, so he sent the message. Then, as soon as she heard that, Grags 'dzin ma (Famous Holder) told Sa 'tsho ma (Earth Living Mother), Sa 'tsho ma (Earth Living Mother), Lha sbyin (God Given) sent me this message. Then Sa 'tsho ma (Earth Living Mother) said, 'Let's lure him in with a trick, humiliate him, and then send him away, and he will become ordinary.' Then they sent a message to Lha sbyin (God Given), 'Lha sbyin (God Given), please come to the king's palace, come here, and let's discuss what method we can use to enthrone you.' Then, as soon as Lha sbyin (God Given) heard that, he was overjoyed and thought, 'Now that they are happy, the kingship is as easy to get as my beer dregs.' Then he went to the king's palace and prepared to sit on the Bodhisattva's seat, but the gods made the seat invisible. Then Sa 'tsho ma (Earth Living Mother) sat at the top of the stairs by the door of the harem and said, 'Lha sbyin (God Given), you don't need to sit on the seat for a while. Please come into the harem and let's discuss it.' Then Lha sbyin (God Given) also listened to Sa 'tsho ma's (Earth Living Mother) words, joined his ten fingers in supplication, and stood before her. Then Sa 'tsho ma (Earth Living Mother) grabbed his joined hands and squeezed them tightly, drawing blood from all his fingers, and Lha sbyin (God Given) fainted from the pain. Then Sa 'tsho ma (Earth Living Mother) turned him head down on the stairs, kicked his head, and threw him off the stairs. The other women, some smashed his body with cow dung, and some splattered him with hot oil. Then, his body battered and wounded, he came out of there and left, and he became a Koka lika (Cuckoo) and a Khan da drab bya (Oriole) and a Kata mora kati shya (a kind of bird) and

Then, those gods went to where Devadatta was. Having seen him, they spoke thus: "Devadatta, what is this? You, with the great retinue of consorts, are well enjoying the pleasures of the consorts' retinue?" Then, the monks, having heard this, reported to the Blessed One. The monks reported to the Buddha, the Blessed One, saying: "Venerable One, please observe how the Earth Mother is degrading Devadatta in front of the crowd." The Blessed One said: "Not only now, but also in the past, the Earth Mother degraded Devadatta. Listen to it. Monks, in the past, in the city of Varanasi, there was a king named Brahma-datta. In the country of Videha, there was a king named Maha-bala-datta. The two of them did not get along with each other, so they often caused many people to lose their lives. Later, King Brahma-datta of Kashi, in the midst of a gathering of ministers attending him, initiated a conversation about women, asking: 'Among you, who has seen a woman with a beautiful appearance, pleasing and lovely?' There, whoever had seen such a woman, he reported to the king as it was. There, one person spoke thus: 'Let alone all the gods, the consort of the King of Videha, there is no woman whose appearance can be compared to hers.' Having heard these words, the king was struck by the arrow of desire, and he thought: 'Since I do not get along with King Maha-bala-datta, I cannot meet with her. I will first reconcile with him, and then it will be easy.' Having thought thus, King Brahma-datta, after reconciling with the King of Videha, sent a woman as a messenger to the consort of King Maha-bala-datta, saying: 'All the things that I have not reconciled with King Maha-bala-datta are for your sake. Know this, and be sure to make me meet with you.' Then, the consort of King Maha-bala-datta deceived the king, saying: 'Great King, King Brahma-datta is seeking me, so he is striving for me.'"

If needed, I should subdue him. Then he said: Do as you please, but make sure he falls into my hands. He said: I should do as the gods please, please do not be discouraged. Having said that, he sent a messenger's reply to the other party, saying: While the king is still alive, I have no chance to meet you, kill him, and then I will meet you. Then, Brahma-given thought, before making the thoughts inconsistent, I cannot kill him, so I think I should oppose him. So, King Brahma-given again opposed King Great Power, rectified the four armies, went to the country of Pideha, and surrounded the city with the four armies. He lived there, making many people afraid. Then, the concubine of the Great Power sent a letter saying: All that you have come here for is for me, why kill so many people? Now, please disguise yourself as an ordinary person, enter the city, and meet me. Upon hearing these words, King Brahma-given of Kashi entered the palace as instructed. As soon as he arrived, he was seized by the concubine of the Great Power and presented to the king, saying: The god Brahma-given has done as the gods please. Then, King Great Power summoned the prince, ministers, merchants, rich men, and captains, and kicked the head of King Brahma-given of Kashi, saying: In order to prevent him from defiling other people's wives in the future, kill him. Then, the concubine said to King Great Power: My lord, is it not more effective to humiliate him than to kill him? Why kill him now? Let him go. Having said that, he let him live. Monks, what do you think, at that time
