Then, Gapa (གས་པ་) offered the Sangha all necessities for three months. On the final day, he offered the Blessed One a robe worth a hundred million. He also offered each of the other monks a pair of cloths and then departed. They also went to the Blessed One from time to time to listen to the Dharma. After listening to the Dharma from the Blessed One, they went especially to pay homage to the venerable Piṇḍola-bhāradvāja. Then, the monks saw this and became doubtful, thinking: Why does this king especially respect the venerable Piṇḍola-bhāradvāja? They heard about this extensively. After hearing this, they reported to the Blessed One, saying: Venerable, King Charka (འཆར་ཀ) of Badsas (བད་ས་), with a mind full of extreme hatred, went to the venerable Piṇḍola-bhāradvāja. Because of that, the light of that place disappeared, and the water in the pond also dried up. When he generated a joyful mind again, that light reappeared, and the dried-up pond was restored. The Blessed One said: Monks, this is not only happening now. In the past, in a city called Rice Growth (འབྲས་འཕེལ་), there was a king named Mount Sumeru (ལྷུན་པོ་) who ruled there. During his reign, the country was rich, prosperous, peaceful, and had good harvests, filled with people and many inhabitants, disputes and fights were pacified, there were no conflicts, internal strife, thieves, famine, and diseases, and it was abundant with rice, sugarcane, cattle, and buffalo. He ruled the country according to the Dharma, as if treating an only son. Then, the jester of that king, by chance, took a wife and played and rejoiced with her, enjoying happiness. Later, his wife became pregnant, and after nine or ten months, she gave birth to a handsome, pleasing, and beautiful boy. He held a grand birth celebration for the child and named him according to family tradition. He raised him with milk, yogurt, butter, ghee, and the essence of ghee. When he grew up, he learned letters, the conduct of Brahmins, and…

Yoga practice, and the word Om (Tibetan: ༀ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om), and the word Bho (Tibetan: བྷོ, Sanskrit Devanagari: भो, Sanskrit Romanization: bho, Literal Chinese meaning: Bho), and cleanliness and rituals, and taking ashes, and holding pills, and the science of definitive expression, and the science of sacrifice, and the science of poetry, and the science of political protection, and the act of sacrifice, and causing sacrifice to be performed, and giving, and receiving, and the act of recitation, and after being taught the method of teaching recitation, he became a Brahmin skilled in six kinds of activities. Gradually, he became proficient in the eighteen fields of knowledge. Later, he saw my father ruling the kingdom in a way that was not in accordance with the Dharma. After seeing this, he thought: After my father dies, I will become the king without a crown. Therefore, I should abandon living at home and settle in the forest. Thinking this, he told his parents, and then settled in the forest. He went there and cultivated the four dhyanas and five supernormal powers. After that, one day, he went to the king's palace, Abundance Palace. His father, for the sake of his son, had a hut of branches and leaves built in my garden, and served him with all kinds of things. People often came here to listen to the Dharma. After that, one day, King Lhunpo, wearing an army composed of four parts, went to chase after fleeing beasts. The king saw many people going to the priest's garden. After seeing this, he asked: Where are these people going? The ministers replied: O God, the priest's son has become a renunciate, and he has become very powerful and mighty, and these people are going to see him. Then the king thought: He is the most beloved and pleasant person in my heart, my teacher and someone to be remembered, I should also go and see him. The king went to the place where the hermit was, and the hermit saw him, but neither greeted him nor stood up. Immediately after seeing him, the king was overwhelmed with great anger, thinking: This person is the son of the priest in my country, and when I came, he neither greeted me nor stood up, I will cut off his head and throw it away.
