Then, those who saw the truth went to the venerable Piṇḍola Bharadvāja from time to time to listen to the Dharma. Then, one day, the assembly of people living in Kauśāmbī, from assembly to assembly and from gathering to gathering, gathered and assembled and went. King Udayana of Vatsa also fully armed himself with a fourfold army to go hunting. King Udayana of Vatsa saw the assembly of people living in Kauśāmbī going to the monastery of Gṛhapati Ghoṣila. Having seen this, he asked the ministers: Where are these people going? The ministers replied: O God, there is a priest's son named Piṇḍola Bharadvāja who has renounced his family and the uncrowned kingdom and has gone forth. He is traveling around and has come to Kauśāmbī, and is living in the monastery of Gṛhapati Ghoṣila in Kauśāmbī. These people are here to see him. Having heard this, the king immediately said: He is someone who has long been dear to my heart, pleasing, respected, and remembered. I will also go to see and serve him. Having said this, he went to the monastery of Gṛhapati Ghoṣila. However, the elder neither welcomed the king nor stood up. Having seen this, the king was immediately overwhelmed by great anger, and after angrily serving the elder, he left. Then, he said to the ministers: Look at this renunciant Piṇḍola Bharadvāja, the priest's son living in my country. When he saw me, he neither welcomed me nor stood up.

After saying this, they further displeased the king. Therefore, the king became even more unhappy. He angrily returned with the army and the game, and came near the temple, thinking, 'I will go and see that monk again, and if he sees me and neither welcomes nor stands up, I will cut off his head and throw it away.' Thinking this, he went to the monastery of Gadhgalarig. Then, the Venerable Pindola Bharadvaja heard that King Udayana of Bhadraka was coming to see him. Upon hearing this, the king thought, 'Why is he coming to see me?' He thought, 'If this monk neither welcomes me nor stands up, I will cut off his head and throw it on the ground.' He came with a hateful mind, and the Venerable saw him. The Venerable, knowing the king's thoughts with his mind, arose from his samadhi and walked six steps to greet him. In the moment of greeting, the light emanating from the king's body disappeared, and the earth cracked open. Seeing this, the king was immediately frightened and thought, 'This monk is greatly miraculous and powerful; because I came with a hateful mind, his power has caused my light to disappear and the earth to crack open.' Realizing this, he went to the Venerable Pindola Bharadvaja, prostrated at his feet, and said, 'Holy one, please forgive my childish, ignorant, unclear, and unwise faults.' The Venerable said, 'Great King, I forgive you, but please forgive your own mind.' The king said, 'Venerable, will I not lose my kingdom or face a danger to my life?' The Venerable said, 'Great King, do not be afraid, do not be afraid! You will neither lose your kingdom nor face a danger to your life.' Great King, although this is so, because I welcomed you with six steps, therefore you for six months...

Then, his son, ministers, and attendants searched for him, but could not find him, so they returned to the palace. What should we do if we can't find him? Where did he go? They sat in silence. After six months, the king was seen and recognized by others, who asked: God, where did you come from? The king was also upset and told the cowherd everything that had happened. The cowherd said: God, please rest assured and generate great joy, and I will send you back to the palace. Then, the cowherd took the king and set off for Kausambi. The minister, the son of Rigpe Muntzin, also remembered after six months where the king had gone, and we must search for him. If we can find him alive, then he will be the king. If not, if something goes wrong, then let the prince take control of the throne. Thinking like this, he led the four-limbed army.
