And after making aspirations to attain complete and perfect enlightenment, he took a sharp weapon and cut his own throat. The great ocean cannot coexist with a dead body, there is no opportunity, because this is not the place. Therefore, those dragons who love cleanliness pushed the body to the shore and threw it on the ground. Then, they removed those jewels from the corpse and distributed them, worshiped his bones and buried them. Monks, what do you think? At that time, the merchant named Yigga (དབྱིག་དགའ་), who abided in the conduct of a Bodhisattva, that was me. Those five who became the five merchants at that time, were these five monks. At that time, I also risked my own life to save them from the ocean, gave them shares of precious jewels, and placed them in a place of ease and happiness. Now, I also save them from the ocean of samsara, give them shares of precious jewels such as roots, powers, and branches of enlightenment, and place them in the ultimate attainment of eternity and the bliss of nirvana. The Hundred Deeds, Volume Nine, called "Two Bears," the first bear story is: When the Blessed One was residing in Rajagriha (རྒྱལ་པོའི་ཁབ་), he went to the place of Gaya (ག་ཡཱ), and caught a cold. The king of physicians, Jivaka (འཚོ་བྱེད་), advised that taking medicinal ghee called "Iron Arrow" would be beneficial. He personally cooked the medicinal ghee and offered it to the Blessed One to take. Afterwards, the illness became even more severe, and Jivaka asked: Venerable, to whom should I offer the remaining ghee? At that time, the Blessed One said to Jivaka: Jivaka, distribute it to the Sangha, give it to whoever wants it. Then, Jivaka replied: I will do as the Blessed One has said. Jivaka distributed the remaining ghee to the Sangha, but not a single monk accepted it. Devadatta (ལྷས་བྱིན་) saw this and said: Jivaka, what is that? Jivaka said: This is the remainder of the medicinal ghee called "Iron Arrow" that the Blessed One took. I distributed it to the monks, but no one accepted it. Devadatta said: I will take it, give me as much as the ascetic Gautama (གཽ་ཏ་མ) drank. Jivaka

Someone said: Devadatta, the Blessed One, is large in body and great in strength. You cannot consume as much as he does. He said: If the Shramana Gautama eats, why can't I eat? Devadatta did not listen to the doctor's advice, and he ate as much as the Blessed One ate. Then, the Blessed One there performed the ritual of thin rice porridge that day, and then ate. After that, Devadatta heard that the ritual of thin rice porridge was performed, and then ate, and said to the doctor: Doctor, I will also perform the ritual of thin rice porridge. After that, the doctor looked at his face and said: Devadatta, you cannot even digest butter, how can you perform the ritual of thin rice porridge? He said: If the Shramana Gautama eats, why can't I eat? After saying these words, he also performed the ritual of thin rice porridge. As soon as he drank it, he was struck by stomach disease, and he could not bear the pain and rolled on the ground. In the world, there are friends, enemies, and neutral people. Some people from the well told the Venerable Ananda: Venerable Ananda, Devadatta has stomach disease and is about to die. After that, the Venerable Ananda, hearing this, became unhappy because of his sorrow for his brother, and went to the Blessed One and reported: Venerable Devadatta has stomach disease and is about to die, please, Blessed One, save him. After that, as soon as the Blessed One heard these words, he was immediately moved by great compassion, and went to the place where Devadatta was. After going there, he placed his hand on Devadatta's head and said: Devadatta, by the truth and the words of truth, if my mind is equal towards you, the one who takes life, and Rahula grasping the palms of his hands, then by the truth and the words of truth, may you be without illness. After that, as soon as he said these words, Devadatta was healed. After that, the monks said to him: Devadatta, the Blessed One has made efforts for you and has given the gift of a precious life. He said: What is so strange about that? If he had not studied medicine, how could he heal so many people? He said these words.
