Being exceedingly delighted with the Sangha, he thought: 'I have fully enjoyed the pleasures of gods and humans. Now I should renounce in the Dharma and Vinaya well-spoken by the Blessed One, and for the sake of completely crossing over the rivers and completely escaping the bonds, I must strive, persevere, and be diligent.' Thinking thus, he gave alms and accumulated merit. After making many poor people rich, he renounced in the Blessed One's teachings. After he renounced, a divine bed would appear in whatever direction he vowed to dwell. Wherever he went, non-humans would spread unused, long, fine cotton cloths on the ground. They would also scatter various flowers on the ground. He became ashamed because of this. The Blessed One said: 'Generate a mind of not looking at them from the depths of your heart, and everything will disappear.' Then, as soon as he heard this, he immediately generated a mind of not looking at everything, and everything disappeared. After that, through effort, perseverance, and diligence, he abandoned all defilements and directly realized the state of an Arhat. That Arhat, having become free from desire for the three realms, possessed a mind that equated gold and dung, possessed a mind that saw the sky and the palm of his hand as the same, became cool like sandalwood soaked in water, shattered the eggshell with wisdom, obtained wisdom, supernormal powers, and discriminating awareness, turned his back on worldly gain, attachment, and honor, and became an object of offering, remembrance, and reverence by the gods, including their retinues. Then, the monks asked the Blessed Buddha: 'What deeds did the venerable Yig Tsho (དབྱིག་མཚོས།) do, that the ripening of those deeds caused him to be born into a wealthy, rich, and affluent family, to have a good appearance, to be pleasing to the eye, beautiful, adorned with all kinds of ornaments, to be born without being stained by the impurities of the womb, flesh, and blood, and that as soon as he was born, divine mansions, divine beds, and divine offering trees appeared? Wherever he went, non-humans would spread unused fine cotton cloths for him.'

He spread out long mats, and scattered various flowers on the ground. When he grew up, he obtained the glory of gods and humans. He pleased the Blessed One, and did not displease him. He renounced the world in the Blessed One's teachings, abandoned all defilements, and directly realized the state of an Arhat. The Blessed One said: This is the result of a vow. Where did this monk make his vow? Monks, in the past, in this very fortunate eon, when the lifespan of beings was twenty thousand years, there appeared a fully enlightened Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, a Sugata, a knower of the world, a guide for those who need to be tamed, unsurpassed, a teacher of gods and humans, a Buddha, a Blessed One, named Light Treasury. At that time, in Varanasi, there lived a wealthy householder, rich in possessions, enjoying great abundance, possessing vast and extensive holdings, endowed with the wealth of Vaishravana, and comparable to the wealth of Vaishravana. Later, he developed great joy in the Buddha, great joy in the Dharma, and great joy in the Sangha. Then, he built a monastery that was perfect in every way. In that monastery, he invited the Blessed One Light Treasury and the Sangha of monks for ritual bathing and offerings. That night, he prepared ritual bathing and a hundred flavors of food, and offered them to the Blessed One Light Treasury and the Sangha of monks, and ritually bathed them. The Blessed One Light Treasury and the Sangha of monks were satisfied with the hundred flavors of food. He himself took the hair and nails of the Blessed One and built a stupa for the hair and nails of the fully enlightened Buddha Light Treasury in that monastery. He gathered workers, and before long, he completed the stupa in every way. Then, he saw that the stupa had been defiled by birds, so he built a strong, clean room with railings to cover the stupa.
