Arrived at the royal palace called Marmeyden. At that time, in the royal palace of Marmeyden, there was a king named Marmey ruling. During his reign, the country was rich, prosperous, peaceful, and had a good harvest. The people were numerous and full of vitality. Disputes and battles were calmed, and there were no conflicts, civil wars, thieves, diseases, or famines. Rice, sugar cane, cattle, and buffaloes were abundant. He governed the country harmlessly and carefully, as if treating an only son. After that, King Marmey, in order to have the Tathagata Marmeydze's feet touch the earth of the city, invited him. Beside King Marmey, there was a prince named Norjen Zhibu. The king sent a messenger to him, saying, "I have invited the Tathagata Marmeydze to touch the earth of the city with his feet, and you need to come and make offerings." At that time, King Norjen Zhibu had also been making offerings for twelve years. At the end of the offerings, he prepared five grand donations: a golden staff, a golden ball, a golden plate, a bed adorned with four kinds of jewels, five hundred karapanas, and a maiden adorned with all ornaments. At that time, in another place, there lived two Brahmin boys who were learning the Vedas from a Khenpo. They realized that they needed to offer the Khenpo's fee to the Dharma master and the teacher's fee to the teacher, so they pondered this in their hearts. After that, they heard that King Norjen Zhibu had prepared five grand donations at the end of the offerings, and proclaimed, "Whoever can completely recite the Brahmin scriptures will receive these." So they thought, "We should go there to receive these, but we must first determine which of us is more learned and whose recitation is more complete." So they set off for the great city of King Norjen Zhibu. The king was also informed by the gods, "Two clever Brahmin boys, one named Lojesangpo and one named Loje, are coming here.

Within, offer these great gifts to the one called Wise and Good. The merit of the offerings made by you, the great king, for twelve years is not as great as the merit of giving great gifts to the Brahmin boy Wise and Good. Then the king thought, 'Since the gods have urged me on behalf of those two, those two must surely be great.' Then the king saw from afar two Brahmin boys, handsome and beautiful, coming. They also came to the place of offering and sat on seats in the open space among the Brahmins. Then the son of King Wealthy, seeing those two, thought, 'The one called Wise and Good, whom the gods have urged me to give to, must surely be this one.' Then the king went before the master of the ranks and asked the Brahmin boy Wise and Good, 'Are you Wise and Good?' He said, 'I am.' Then the son of King Wealthy placed the Brahmin boy Wise and Good as the master of the ranks and gave him food, and gave those five kinds of great gifts. The Brahmin boy Wise and Good accepted the four great gifts of the golden staff and balls, but he did not accept the daughter from among the gifts, saying, 'I am a celibate.' Then that girl saw the Brahmin boy Wise and Good, handsome and beautiful, and became enamored and fond of him, and said to the boy Wise and Good, 'Brahmin boy, please take me.' He said, 'I cannot take you.' Then that girl was also released by the king with the intention of great generosity, and she was not taken back, nor was she taken by the Brahmin boy Wise and Good, and he went to the city of King Lamp, the place full of lamps. Having gone there, he took off all his ornaments from his body and gave them to the garland maker, saying, 'These ornaments are precious, please give me blue lotuses every day for the worship of the gods.' Then he gave the golden ornaments according to his word for the service of the gods.
