Having practiced celibacy once, he made a vow: "Thus, in the teachings of the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha Light Protector, although I have practiced celibacy for one lifetime, I have not attained any accumulation of merit. May I please the Buddha Bhagavan who is the Brahmin boy prophesied by the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha Light Protector, and may I not displease him. May I renounce in his teachings, abandon all defilements, and realize the state of an Arhat. May the fruit of the sinful deeds of harsh words I have spoken to those who practice celibacy not ripen upon me." Monks, what do you think? The Bhikkhuni who renounced in the teachings of the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha Light Protector at that time is this very ugly one. Because of her pride in her appearance, youth, power, and lineage, she despised many Bhikkhunis with an ugly demeanor, and with the ripening of the deeds of speaking words of low birth, wherever she was born, she was born into a family of low birth, and she was endowed with eighteen kinds of ugliness. Then, after practicing celibacy for one lifetime, at the time of death, she made a vow: "May I please the Buddha Bhagavan who is the Brahmin boy prophesied by the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha Light Protector, and may I not displease him. May I renounce in his teachings, abandon all defilements, and realize the state of an Arhat." Therefore, monks, I have attained the same fruit as the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha Light Protector, the same power, the same deeds, and the same means. This one has pleased me and has not displeased me, and having renounced in my teachings, she has abandoned all defilements and realized the state of an Arhat. The one called the Cowherd was residing in Vaishali. At that time, King Bright offered to the Buddha and other Bhikkhus.

Having invited the Sangha for three months, he prepared all the necessities in the grove of Prince Jeta, including the cattle and buffalo pens near the grove of Prince Jeta. He allowed the monks to enjoy milk and buffalo milk. For three months, he served the Buddha and the Sangha of monks with all necessities. Finally, he offered food with a hundred flavors to the Buddha and the Sangha of monks, and offered a garment worth a hundred thousand to the Bhagavan. He also offered all necessities to each of the other monks. Dismissing all the cowherds and buffalo herders to their respective homes, the king departed. Then, the cowherds thought: "This king, although the ultimate in power as the ruler of the land, still gives alms and makes merit. But we are servants of others, looking to the faces of others, eating from the gardens of others and living. Whatever good fortune he has obtained, all of that is the result of the three actions of giving, taming, and truly observing discipline. We too should take up and abide by some virtuous Dharma." Thinking thus, five hundred cowherds invited the Buddha and the Sangha of monks, prepared many clean and excellent foods and drinks, and the next morning, rising early and filling water, they sent a message to the Bhagavan urging, "Venerable ones, it is time for the meal, please dine." The Bhagavan, thinking that the time had come, requested permission to depart. Then, the Bhagavan, in the morning, put on his lower garment and Dharma robes, took his bowl, and accompanied by the assembly of monks, with the Sangha of monks leading the way, went to the vicinity of the cowherds' cattle pens and milking place, and sat on the prepared seat. Then, those cowherds, knowing that the Buddha and the Sangha of monks were seated comfortably, offered many clean and excellent foods and drinks from their own hands, and satisfied them with milk and buffalo milk, offering them whatever they desired. After the meal was finished, secretly...

Knowing that they were ready, they took very low cushions and sat before the Blessed One in order to listen to the Dharma. Then, the Blessed One understood the thoughts, habits, faculties, nature, and knowledge of those five hundred cowherds, and taught them the Dharma that suited them. Through this, those five hundred cowherds and their retinues, while sitting on that very cushion, destroyed the twenty towering peaks of the mountain of the view of the aggregates with the vajra of wisdom, and realized the fruit of stream-entry. They also saw the truth and requested: "Blessed One, we wish to go forth into the teachings of the Blessed One, rather than remain in our homes, and we will strive, practice, and exert ourselves in order to cross the rivers and to completely transcend the bonds." Then, they informed King Clear and entrusted the herds of cattle to other cowherds, dismissed their families, and came before the Blessed One, bowed their heads at the feet of the Blessed One, and said to the Blessed One: "Venerable One, if it is permissible for us to go forth, receive full ordination, and obtain the status of a monk in the well-spoken Dharma and discipline, we also wish to practice the pure conduct before the Blessed One." Then, the Blessed One said to them, "Come, monks," and the Blessed One said, "Monks, come, practice the pure conduct." As soon as they heard this, their hair immediately fell out, and they were wearing monastic robes. Their hair and beards were shaved, and they looked as if they had been ordained for a hundred years, as if only seven days had passed. They were holding begging bowls and water pots in their hands. Here it is said: The Thus-Gone One gave the teaching with "Come," they shaved their heads and wore monastic robes. The Buddha distributed the robes with his mind, and they immediately became gentle and their senses were pacified. Then, the Blessed One prophesied them. They also abandoned all defilements through effort, practice, and diligence, and realized the state of Arhat. Those Arhats, free from desire in the three realms, and gold and
