One should practice brahmacharya in the presence of (the Buddha). Then, the Blessed One said to those wild men, "Bhikkhus, come here, practice brahmacharya!" As soon as he spoke, their hair and beards were shaved off, and they became as if seven days had passed, and their conduct was as if they had taken the full ordination for a hundred years, and they held begging bowls and water pots in their hands. Here it is said: The Thus-gone One taught with the words "Come here," they shaved their heads and wore robes on their bodies. After the clothes were bestowed by the Buddha's intention, immediately the senses were calmed. Then, the Blessed One prophesied to them. They also abandoned all defilements through diligence, practice, and effort, and directly realized the state of Arhat. These Arhats, having become free from the desire of the three realms, possessed equanimity, with gold and rubble being equal, and the sky and the palm of the hand being indistinguishable. They became as cool as if soaked in sandalwood, destroyed the shell of the egg with wisdom, obtained wisdom, supernormal powers, and individual perfect knowledge, and turned their backs on worldly gain, attachment, and reverence. They became objects of offering, remembrance, and reverence by the gods, including the gods and attendants. Then, the fly thought: If I had not become such a body, I would also go forth in the Blessed One's teachings, and strive, practice, and exert myself to cross the rivers and escape the bonds. As soon as he said this, his body became completely perfect and satisfactory in every way, and he became even more delighted with the Blessed One. Having become delighted, he rose from his seat, draped his upper garment over one shoulder, and said to the Blessed One: If it is possible to go forth, take full ordination, and obtain the status of a bhikkhu in the well-spoken Dharma-Vinaya of the Blessed One, I should also practice brahmacharya in the presence of the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One ordained him and gave him full ordination with the words "Bhikkhu, come here," and also gave him a prophecy. He also abandoned all defilements through diligence, practice, and effort.

Thus, he realized the state of an Arhat. Then, the monks asked the Blessed One: "Venerable One, what kind of actions did the lazy one commit that resulted in him becoming lazy due to the ripening of those actions? What kind of actions did he commit that pleased the Blessed One and did not displease the Blessed One? Having renounced the world in the Blessed One's teachings, he abandoned all defilements and realized the state of an Arhat?" The Blessed One replied: "Monks, this person performed and accumulated such actions. Monks, in the past, in this very fortunate eon, when the lifespan of beings was twenty thousand years, a fully enlightened Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, a Sugata, a knower of the world, a tamer of beings, an unsurpassed guide, a teacher of gods and humans, a Buddha, a Blessed One named Light Protector appeared in the world. At that time, in this Varanasi, there lived two householder brothers. One of them heard the Dharma from the fully enlightened Buddha Light Protector and realized the fruit of non-return. He abandoned actions with faults and steadfastly remained in actions that were certainly without fault. The other younger brother was a farmer. He thought, 'I am afflicted by cold when it is cold, and afflicted by heat when it is hot, while this one stays at home and enjoys comfort.' So he angrily spoke harsh words to the non-returner: 'I am afflicted by cold when it is cold, and afflicted by heat when it is hot, doing all the work, while you, like a lazy person, stay at home and don't want to do anything?' Then, the non-returner thought, 'This younger brother has spoken harsh words to me. In order to prevent him from falling into ruin forever, I must restrain him.' So he displayed miracles in front of him and said, 'You have spoken harsh words to me, confess your wrongdoing! Otherwise, you will wander in samsara and experience great suffering.' Then, as soon as he heard these words, the younger brother immediately felt great remorse. He prostrated at his feet, asked for forgiveness, and said, 'I give up staying at home, I will go.'
