Having done so, he dwells in completeness. Likewise, the second direction, likewise the third, likewise the fourth, above, below, directly, in all ways, all these worlds with a mind imbued with loving-kindness, without animosity, without hostility, without harm, vast, having become great, without duality, immeasurable, having been thoroughly cultivated, believing and pervading, having done so, he dwells in completeness. Likewise, compassion, joy, and having extensively spoken up to equanimity having become great. 'Holder's son, this is the path, this is the way, a son of good family or a daughter of good family, endowed with faith, if they cultivate it, abandoning the desire for desire, dwelling mostly in it, they will be born equally in the world of Brahma,' he said. Thus, the venerable Śāriputra, having established the Brahmin Holder's son in the four immeasurables, departed. Then, not long after the venerable Śāriputra had left, the Blessed One thought, 'The monk Śāriputra did not explain the truths above that to the Brahmin Holder's son, it is not finished.' Thinking thus, he vanished from the grove of light and dwelt in the house of the Brahmin Holder. Then the Brahmin Holder's son saw the Blessed One seated on a seat. Having seen him, he was greatly delighted with the Blessed One. Having been delighted, he rose from his seat and sat down. Then the Blessed One taught him the Dharma that was in accordance with him, and then the Brahmin Holder's son, sitting on that very seat, realized the fruit of non-returning. Thus, the Blessed One, having established the Brahmin Holder's son in the fruit of non-returning, vanished from the house of the Holder's son, and before the venerable Śāriputra had gone to the grove of light, the Blessed One had gone to the grove of light first and sat on his own seat. Then, not long after the Blessed One had departed, the Brahmin Holder's son died, and having passed away, was born in the world of Brahma. Then the venerable Śāriputra went to where the Blessed One was, and having gone, to the Blessed One

Having bowed to his feet with his head, he sat down on one side. Then, the Blessed One said to the Venerable Shariputra: Shariputra, from where have you come now? Shariputra replied: Venerable, I have caused the son of the Brahmin holder to abide in the four abodes of Brahma, and now I have come from there. He said: Shariputra, why did you not show the truths on top of that to the son of the Brahmin holder? If it had been shown, this Dharma-Vinaya would have been realized. Shariputra, although it is so, after you left, I disappeared from this garden of light, and sitting in the house of the son of the Brahmin holder, I showed him the truths on top of that. He manifested the fruit of non-return, and he died, passed away, and was born in the world of Brahma. Thus, I caused the son of the holder to abide in the truths, and I went first before you went to the garden of light. Then, the Venerable Shariputra said this to the Blessed One: Venerable, the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, are so wonderful and possess such wonderful qualities. Then, the monks asked the Buddha, the Blessed One: Venerable, what kind of karma did the son of the Brahmin holder do that, as a result of that karma, he was born into a wealthy, rich, and prosperous family? And the Blessed One was pleased with him and did not displease him. The Blessed One said: It was due to the power of aspiration. Venerable, where did he make the aspiration? He said: Monks, in the past, in a past time, in a city called Non-Contention, there was a king called Naga-deva who ruled as king. During his reign, there was wealth, prosperity, happiness, good harvests, and it was filled with people and many people. Strife and fighting were pacified, disturbances and internal strife were calmed, and there were no thieves, diseases, or famines. It was full of rice, sugarcane, cattle, and buffaloes. There was no harm, and like a thorn hedge, like cherishing a beloved only child, he ruled the kingdom according to the Dharma. At that time, in the city of Non-Contention, in front of King Naga-deva, there was a wealthy and rich minister.

He was wealthy and enjoyed great prosperity, possessing countless riches and gold. His possessions were vast and extensive, comparable to the wealth of the son of Vaishravana (Namtösé, རྣམ་ཐོས་ཀྱི་བུ།). He relied on the king, taking wealth from Brahmins and householders; and he relied on Brahmins and householders, taking wealth from the king. Then, at that time, another poor Brahmin was standing not far from that leading Brahmin. He saw that the leading Brahmin relied on the king, taking wealth from Brahmins and householders; and he relied on Brahmins and householders, taking wealth from the king. Therefore, he lived on top of a mansion, without men, only with women and musical instruments, enjoying himself with joy and delight. Then, the poor Brahmin thought: 'Experiencing such splendor, all of these are the results of the three actions of generosity, discipline, and perfect restraint. Therefore, I too should properly take and abide in even a small amount of the root of virtue.' 'However, will that put an end to poverty?' Such a thought arose in him. When the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, do not appear in the world, the Pratyekabuddhas appear in the world. A Pratyekabuddha came to his doorstep. Then, the poor Brahmin saw that Pratyekabuddha from afar. Having seen him, he felt great joy. Having felt joy, the Brahmin offered alms to that Pratyekabuddha. Those great beings teach the Dharma with their bodies, not with their speech. He took the alms and from there went into the sky. Then, the Brahmin felt even greater joy, and focusing on his feet, he prostrated and made a prayer: 'Alas! By this root of virtue, may I, wherever I am born, be born into a wealthy family, rich in wealth and with great prosperity. May I also rely on the king, taking wealth from Brahmins and householders; rely on Brahmins and householders, taking wealth from the king, and be even more excellent than this.'
